Reality TV Magazine’s Top Ten Best Reality TV Shows of 2004

January 03, 2005 12:07 AM by Joe Blackmon

Toptenrealitytvshows_1 Reality TV started off with a bang in 2004.  The Apprentice 1 and Survivor:  All-Stars were easily the best two reality TV shows of the year.  The Apprentice 2 and Survivor:  Vanuatu also stood out above the pack.  American Idol 3 provided another strong season, but it didn’t quite live up to the Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard battle from season 2.

1. The Apprentice (1 & 2)
2. Survivor (All-Stars & Vanuatu)
3. American Idol 3
4. The Amazing Race (5 & 6)
5. The Simple Life 2
6. Big Brother 5
7. My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance
8. Extreme Makeover:  Home Edition
9. Film Fakers
10. The Real Gilligan’s Island

The Amazing Race continued to be quality reality TV viewing.  Paris and Nicole were back with The Simple Life 2, the funniest reality TV show, but newcomer My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance did provide them some competition for that title.  Big Brother 5 provided some much needed relief during a very dull reality TV Summer.  Extreme Makeover:  Home Edition proved that reality TV can be inspirational and uplifting.  Film Fakers and The Real Gilligan’s Island proved to be two standout new shows.  Also just barely missing the list, but still noteworthy for honorable mention were You’ve Got a Friend, The Joe Schmo Show 2, Punk’d, and Last Comic Standing 2.
