Jeff Probst Says Survivor Palau Offers More Firsts Than Ever Before

ProbstpalauJeff Probst in summing up Survivor Palau says there will be "more firsts this season than ever before.  Some are twists, some happen organically, and some happen as a result of the competition."  Jeff also called Survivor Palau the "water season" and promised the "most physical and original challenges in quite a while."  The water visibility was apparently superior than in previous seasons so this enabled more physically challenging underwater challenges.   Jeff also mentioned "a real nice cat-fight" takes place in one of the challenges.

Jeff also says that even though the location of Palua will provide some dramatic remnants of World War II that the show will not become a combat missions type show.  Jeff says the theme that developed for Survivor Palua was one of choices.  The contestants are constantly being asked to make choices as part of the competitions.

Another big change from previous season is that the survivors are given no information.  They are basically told, "there’s your beach, have a good time."  Two survivors will not even make it to the first challenge and by the end of the first episode a total of three people are gone.

Jeff says another thing that stands out about the survivors competing in Survivor Palau is that they are "not a group at all, but twenty individuals."  Jeff predicts that viewers will know the names of seven or eight of the survivors by the end of the first episode.

In regards to how his relationship with former Survivor contestant Julie Berry could affect Survivor, Jeff insisted that it would not.  Jeff said that he was a professional and took his job seriously.  While downplaying the possibility of marriage, Jeff said he was "in love" with Julie, and "hopes it lasts forever."
