The Real Gilligan’s Island Premieres

Two new sets of castaways are marooned on an island and challenged to find a way off as the second season of TBS’s THE REAL GILLIGAN’S ISLAND, one of cable’s most popular reality series, kicks off with back-to-back episodes Wednesday, June 8, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT).
THE REAL GILLIGAN’S ISLAND features two real-life skippers, first mates, millionaire couples, movie stars, farm girls and professors all working, as the original castaways did in the 1960s sitcom, to get off the island. In each episode, individual members from the two teams must face off against each other in themed competitions, some based on situations from the original series, with the winners enjoying such special “luxuries” to make their lives on the island a little more pleasant and the losers being banished from the island. Once the cast has been whittled down to seven, the remaining castaways will compete against each other for the final prize money.
The following are the two teams of castaways:
Minnow Orange: Ginger Angie Everhart, Gilligan Shawn Manning, Skipper Ken Callen, Millionaires Jim & Donna Bounce, Professor Tiy-E Muhammad and Mary Ann Randi Silvers.
Minnow Green: Ginger Erika Eleniak, Gilligan Zac Turney, Skipper “Crazy” Charlie Albert, Millionaires Howard Schur & Melissa Mason Jones, Professor Andy Schuler and Mary Ann Mandy Weaver.
Season two opens as the two sets of castaways arrive at the island aboard separate S.S. Minnows. Almost immediately, Mary Ann Mandy develops an instant crush on Professor Andy and is soon snuggling in his arms. Meanwhile, Professor Tiy-E develops a friendship with Gilligan Shawn and minces words with Skipper “Crazy” Charlie.
The competition gets underway with two floating platforms positioned offshore. Each team must use items found in the boxes on the platforms to light a fire. When the fire is large enough, it will burn through a rope and dump water, dousing the fire on the rival team’s rig. The winning team in this first competition will get to take showers.
Next up is the game to determine which Skipper will remain on the island. In this competition, each team has a boat with several holes plugged. As the game commences, plugs are pulled out, and the boats gradually start sinking. The Skipper who succeeds in keeping his boat on top of the water the longest wins and stays on the island. During the competition, however, one team gets more than it bargained for when it turns out one of the castaways can’t swim.
Wrapping up the two-episode premiere, a competition between the Millionaire husbands involves a very special kind of golf game in which the balls are made of avocado pits. The Millionaire husband who lands the most shots on the green gets the stay, while the other is banished from the island.
In addition, as the dust is settling from one of the competitions, one of the Gingers is involved in a minor accident, changing the dynamics on the island.
Episodes three and four will air back-to-back Wednesday, June 15, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT), when four competitions will determine which Millionaire wife, Professor, Mary Ann and Gilligan will remain on the island to compete for the reward money.
