Lauren Sanchez to Host So You Think You Can Dance

June 16, 2005 11:04 PM by Joe Blackmon

Emmy winner Lauren Sanchez, who reports on entertainment for FOX’s KTTV in Los Angeles and anchors KCOP UPN 13 News, has been tapped to host this summer’s hottest dance series, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, premiering Wednesday, July 20 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

Sanchez, who began her career at KCOP-TV, has held positions at the cable channel FSN, serving as anchor/reporter for “Fox Sports News Tonight” and as a correspondent for “The Best Damn Sports Show Period” and “Goin’ Deep,” where she earned an Emmy nomination for an in-depth investigative report. She also has served as a correspondent for “Extra.”

Sanchez has appeared in several major films, including “Fight Club” starring Brad Pitt and “The Longest Yard” with Adam Sandler.  She will next be seen in “Fantastic Four” starring Jessica Alba and Chris Evans.

FOX teams up with the creators of AMERICAN IDOL and the producers of “The American Music Awards” and “American Bandstand” on the ultimate search for the nation’s best dancer in SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. If you think the AMERICAN IDOL competition is tough, you haven’t seen anything yet!  Some contestants will collapse under the pressure, others will reveal their two left feet and one will dance his or her way into America’s heart.

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE was created by Simon Fuller and Nigel Lythgoe and comes from 19 TV Ltd. and dick clark productions. It is executive-produced by Simon Fuller, Nigel Lythgoe and Allen Shapiro.
