Todd Newton hosts the new USA Network original reality/competition series “Made in the USA,” which premieres Wednesday September 14, 2005 at 10:00 PM ET/PT. Newton is perhaps best-known to audiences as the former “Voice of E!” on E! Entertainment Television.
Newton has hosted “Coming Attractions” – E!’s weekly half-hour showcase of current film previews, “Talk Soup,” “E! NewsLive” and many of E!’s live events, such as red carpet arrivals at the Academy Awards®, Emmy Awards®, Golden Globes® and star-studded movie premieres.
Newton also has hosted the Game Show Network’s “Whammy! The All New Press Your Luck.” Fans of game shows also know Newton from the popular “Hollywood Showdown” which aired on the Game Show Network and PAX. As if that isn’t enough, Newton hosted “Powerball Instant Millionaire,” a game show with a grand prize of $1 million.
Newton’s other work on television has taken him around the globe. In Puerto Rico, Newton co-hosted the 2001 Miss Universe Pageant, seen by more than one billion people worldwide. Newton has been featured in Entertainment Weekly, USA Today, Glamour, Seventeen, USA Weekend, St. Louis Magazine, Media Week, Advertising Age and numerous newspapers.
As well-known as Newton is for his work in front of the camera, he began his career behind a radio microphone in St. Louis. It was in the “Show Me” state that Newton did indeed show them, as the No. 1 nighttime contemporary hits personality at WKBQ-FM after leaving HOT 97 FM two years before. Newton moved to Los Angeles where fans know him from KIIS-FM and the nationally syndicated “All Night CafÃƒ.”
Newton is an avid supporter of animal welfare and works to promote animal rescue. He also volunteers as a boy’s basketball coach and has been active in the anti-drug program D.A.R.E. for which he speaks regularly at schools about the importance of self-esteem and affects of drug abuse. A St. Louis native, Newton now lives in Los Angeles with his wife and their two children.
