Ted Nugent certainly isn’t likely to get a sponsorship from PETA or Best Buy for his new reality show Wanted: Ted or Alive. In the second episode of the series, Nugent offers $5,000 to the contestant who cooks him the best chicken dinner. The twist being they have to kill the chicken they are going to cook themselves. Most of the contestants chop their chickens’ heads off with an axe, except for Shannon (an events coordinator and wardrobe assistant) who winds up killing the chicken with her bear hands.
Afterwards, Nugent tells the contestants, “You want chicken just smash it’s head. Get it over with. Or wring its neck. Or chop it off. Or if it flushes, shoot it.” Nugent ultimately selects Joey’s chicken for the $5,000 prize. Joey (a strip club disc jockey) also gets to pick one person to share a hot bath with him. Joey selects Shannon, who doesn’t come off as being very excited about the invitation.
Nugent then challenges the contestants to take target practice. Again, there is a diabolical twist to the challenge. The contestants have to shoot at cell phones, motherboards, pagers, and television sets. Joey and Carl come out on top in the shooting contest, winning $600 each. Mykela (a retired sharpshooter) doesn’t do well, and when she gets sick after the challenge, the other contestants think that she is faking as an excuse for her poor marksmanship.
After the senseless slaughter of consumer electronics, Ted finally takes some pity on the contestants and brings them some venison lasagna to eat. Big Jim even provides some cocktails to quench their thirst. Ted also invites Carl (a college student) to go hunting with him and offers anyone a $1,000 if they will shave their head. Ironically, even though the contestants were perfectly willing to chop the head off a chicken and put a bullet in a television set, they all cringe at the horrible thought of a hair cut. Carl turns out to be the only one with the guts to take the deal. Wanted: Ted or Alive airs on OLN on Saturdays at 10P.M. ET.
