When Fox announced that they weren’t picking up The Simple Life 4, E! reported that Bunim-Murray Productions and 20th Century Fox Television, who co-produce the show, were hopeful that the show would continue on another network. On Monday, E! Entertainment Television announced that they are making that wish a reality. E! has ordered ten all-new episodes of The Simple Life to debut in Spring 2006.
The new season is going to be called "The Simple Life: Till Death Do Us Part," and reunites Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie in a format which is reminiscent of Wife Swap or Trading Spouses.
According to E!, season four of The Simple Life will put the girls to the matrimonial test. In each of the 10 new episodes, Paris and Nicole will take turns playing the traditional role of wife and running a household. There will be cooking, cleaning and all the other duties required to make a house a home. In addition, as "wives," Paris and Nicole will have responsibility for the children, and each family will ultimately decide which of the heiresses is a "keeper."
The fact that E! states that the two will take turns suggests that Paris and Nicole might now share the same camera at the same time. It is widely known that Paris and Nicole are no longer friends, and at one time, there was even speculation that Kimberly Stewart would replace Nicole on the show. In addition to the new episodes, E! will also have access to the 36-episode library of the series, which aired on Fox Broadcasting, beginning in January 2006.
