Host Chris Harrison minces no words in saying that he thinks they have found their best Bachelor ever in Travis Stork. Evidently the 25 girls competing for the new Bachelor’s affections appear to agree. From the minute they spy Travis out the limousine window, they are all giggles, smiles, and excitement.
Any reluctance that Travis might have had in participating in The Bachelor isn’t anywhere to be seen as he greets and makes small talk with the girls like a polished professional. One of the most energetic exchanges occurs when Travis meets Sarah Stone who turns out to be from his home city of Nashville.
When Travis reveals that he’s a doctor, the intensity level picks up even more. Allie G, who is also a doctor, thinks that their common occupations will make her a shoe-in. Allie G also makes it clear that she is there to find a husband and says “quite frankly my eggs are rotting.”
Travis has one rose that he can give out before the first rose ceremony. Allie G tells Travis that she’s at the point in her life where she wants to more on to “the reproductive phase.” Yvonne talks to Travis next and lightens the mood by letting him know that she’s not ready for the reproductive stage. Susan seems to make a special connection with Travis, which makes some of the other girls nervous.
Travis gives his first rose to Sarah B. The other eleven contestants who get roses during the rose ceremony are Cole, Moana, Jennifer, Elizabeth, Shiloh, Yvonne, Jehan, Susan, Tara, Sarah S from Tennessee, and Kristen.
Allie G flips out over not getting a rose and says “I cannot believe that he chose some of those women over me. I direct my life toward my career, and he doesn’t choose that. Just like every other man that I know. It’s a double-edges sword.” Allie G then goes on to tell the other girls, “The only reason I came on this show is because other methods aren’t working. Internet dating, line dating, dating services, I’ve tried all of that, nothing. I told him that I was ready to get my reproductive life going, because the only one reason to be married is to have kids.”
Allie G then confronts Travis and asks him why he didn’t choose her. A distraught Travis tries to tell her that the reproductive stage is not what he’s looking for right now. This only makes Allie G more upset and she responds “You’re playing around. You don’t want reproduction.” As Allie G leaves she declares, “He’s like every other stupid doctor I know. He’s intimidated by another professional woman. Maybe I just won’t date anybody anymore. Maybe I’ll just join the convent.”
