Celebrity Fit Club, Jeff Conaway Goes To Emergency Room

January 15, 2006 12:01 AM by Joe Blackmon

At this week’s Fit Club, things take a tragic turn when an out of control night of drinking and pills sends Jeff Conaway to the emergency room.  The panel arranges an intervention with Dr. Drew Pinsky who has an eye-opening conversation with Jeff where he admits to being severely depressed and over-using several powerful prescription medications.

Jeff then decides to check himself into a drug rehab center.  Meanwhile, this week’s Fit Camp proves to be the most demanding challenge in Fit Club history, and three celebrities drop out even before the event begins.  Celebrity Fit Club 3 airs on Sunday, January 15, 2006 on VH1 at 9P.M. ET.

I feel so bad for him! He was one of the first celebrities I ever met and he was so sweet. I wish him all the best and hope he gets well. I just wonder what makes these actors so depressed! He’s had a pretty impressive life and he should enjoy all that he has accomplished. I hope he can see that when he gets better.

This is all too common in today’s world. I myself checked into a Rehabilitation clinic for prescription painkillers. They are just too easy to get. Rather than focus on this celebrities past to present transformation we should ask ourselves: do doctors care about people or are they all about the bottom line. Prescription painkillers were very easy for me to obtain and at 21 years old i can honestly say that doctors, and dentists alike are doling out more than their fair share of “doctor dope”. These monsters must be reprimanded!

Doesn’t Mr. Conaway have someone around who can tell us his side. We shouldn’t judge him from a scandalous reality show created by vh1 which is some poor quality channel that probably needs ratings. Who can tell us who the real Jeff Conaway is?

In regard to Mr. Conaway being a Christian. Let me tell you something. Even Christians are human and suffer from pain. People in pain sometimes rely on and even become dependant on pain meds.
For you to say he isn’t Christian is so sad.
You might want to get the speck out of your eye and stop judging your fellow man. Just something for a true Christian to think about.
Who would Jesus condemn? Answer none.
Thank you very much and have a wonderful day.

I knew Jeff 20 years ago and he has not changed. He has always been a born again Christian but he picks and chooses the parts of the religion that apply to him. When I met him he told me he was allergic to alcohol – I had no idea that once he started he could not stop. He is an addict – he gets sober – praises god and then falls off the wagon…….same cycle for the last 20 years. He gets away with his behavior because he’s a “celebrity” – very few people would put up with his wacky behavior if he was not famous at one time. I have seen many opportunities come his way and he sabotages all of them. We don’t keep in touch any more but it was sad to see him – nothing has changed. And regarding the Dr.s that give them the prescriptions………I remember Jeff telling his Dr. that if he did not fill his RX he would go buy the drugs on a street corner.

Ms. Channing’s post is an accurate description of lots of Christians I know. When I first heard that Jeff had gotten saved, I was jubilent, thinking he would be a solid moral foundation for others in Hollywood. Instead, he has become a stumbling block. As Christians, please take a look at Jeff, and don’t judge him – but learn a lesson. The world is looking at all of us very closely. When we, as Christians, screw up our lives, the world points the finger and laughs. Jeff can still turn his life around if he would surender ALL to Jesus. Until then, the world will judge him as a buffoon and hypocrite.Jeff, grow up and be a man for Christ!

I saw Jeff on the TV Land awards last night and I wonder what happened to him- he had to be helped to the stage and off by members of Taxi- after their award. It looks like he may have had a stroke- not sure. Does anyone know?? My heart just aches for him and all he has been through in his life. I hope things turn around for him

I too wonder about Jeff. He looked like he has had a ailment or something neurological happen to him. It did not look like him but I remember that head of hair from TAXI however. Any details to what is wrong?

Jeff Conaway is a drunk, a self involved, self obsessed, unevolved, never sober, D R U N K. What else is new.

I feel that Jeff is in dire need for help right now …..he is in his last desperate attempts to get clean and if he doesn’t he will fall victim to this drug induced coma he is obviously in..
God Bless you Jeff ….I am praying for you.

RIP Jeff! You are finally at peace and as a born-again Christian you are finally with Jesus…you are more happy and content than you have ever been!!! I’m both happy and sad (for your family and your friends, fans, etc). I will be praying for your family, as they miss you so much, I am sure!
