Deal Or No Deal Expands To Mondays And Fridays

NBC offers viewers an even better "Deal" as the network has added an additional eight episodes to its initial season order for the hit game show "Deal or No Deal" hosted by Howie Mandel ("Hidden Howie"), and will now officially showcase the series on two nights — Mondays and Fridays (8-9 p.m. ET both nights). The announcement was made by Kevin Reilly, President, NBC Entertainment.
"This show has caught on so fast with audiences and has consistently lifted us at 8 p.m.," said Reilly. "The fast pace and the potential for a true reversal of fortune has attracted a lot of people for us in that crucial time slot, and we look forward to seeing more of the same with these new episodes."
The extra episodes will boost this season’s order to 30 episodes. "Deal or No Deal" originally premiered on December 19-23 over five consecutive nights and returned on February 27 in the same Monday-Friday format. It then settled into Monday nights on a weekly basis on March 6 with some Friday-night broadcasts scheduled throughout March. Through the Monday, March 6 edition, 73 million viewers have tuned-in to the hit game show.
"Deal or No Deal’s" Monday-Friday premiere last week (Feb. 27-March 3) lifted the network an average 38 percent above its non-Olympic first-quarter average for the time periods in adults 18-49 (with a 3.6 rating vs. a 2.6) and by 3.7 million viewers overall (11.0 million vs. 7.3 million). On Friday, March 3, "Deal or No Deal" (4.0 rating, 12 share in adults 18-49, 12.0 million viewers overall) matched the highest non-sports 18-49 rating for any network in the time period in more than three years (since CBS’ Dec. 13, 2002 telecast of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer"). On Monday, March 6, "Deal or No Deal" (4.9/12 in 18-49, 14.7 million viewers overall) tied its highest 18-49 rating to date and achieved it biggest overall audience thus far.
Hosted by Howie Mandel ("Hidden Howie"), "Deal or No Deal" is an exhilarating, international hit game show from Endemol USA, the producers of NBC’s "Fear Factor" and "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." Contestants on the show play for a top prize of one million dollars in a high-energy match of nerves, instincts and raw intuition.
As each contestant tries his luck in a game of chance and odds to become a millionaire, he is confronted with 26 sealed briefcases full of varying amounts of cash — ranging from a measly penny to $1 million dollars. Without knowing the amount in each briefcase, the contestant picks one — his to keep, if he chooses, until its unsealing at game’s end. The game kicks into high gear when the amount of cash in each case is revealed to the contestant round-by-round – and is tempted after each round by a mysterious entity known only as "The Banker" to accept an offer of cash in exchange for what might be contained in the contestant’s chosen briefcase – prompting Mandel to ask the all-important question – Deal or No Deal?
Adding a live interactive element to the game show each night, viewers at home also have a chance to win $10,000 by playing the "Lucky Case Game" on their cell phones or by logging onto the "Deal or No Deal" website at www.nbc.com/DOND. At various points in the show viewers are alerted how to play and all of the viewers who correctly selected the lucky case were pooled together, with the winner chosen at random. The lucky case and the winner are revealed and announced live at the end of the each show — one winner in each of the three times zones across the continental United States (one in Eastern/Central, one in the Mountain time zone, and one in the Pacific time zone).
Based on the successful format from Endemol that has aired in over 35 countries, "Deal or No Deal" is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. David Goldberg is the president of Endemol USA. The series is executive-produced by Scott St. John.

It’s a decent show, but gets boring after awhile. The nice looking girls help, but I don’t see this show lasting long just because there really isn’t any skill involved at all…it’s all luck.

this show clearly illustrates how dumb america has become. people tuning in to watch people dislaying an ability to count off numbers? what skill! the only drama this show has to offer is the suspense in between commercials wondering if the audience will get a clue and kill howie mandrell. only brainwashed moroons of the dumbest ilk think this show is anything other than who wants to be a millionaire without the questions. the american public is sure hungry for grade f tripe. worst, dumbest show ever. or in other words, a hit, since 90% of the american population can’t find canada on a map.

My husband REALLY loves Deal/No Deal!!! [It takes a lot to get him away from his other hobby after work.] Because my husband “took to it” so quickly I tried to get a ticket for him to get on the show, instead I discovered the interactive game. He took that website info to work. He found out how much everyone at work loves the show – Now the guys at work have finally got something in common!!!
—going to the NBC website was so worth it, even if I didn’t get an application for him to try to get on the show.
As for me… Whether scripted or not-I just love how Howie works in the show; he was a great comedian but seems to be effortlessly growing to be one of the great all-time TV game show hosts. I consider him a “King of Cliff Hangers.”
NOT TO MENTION…”give credit where credit is due”…the way the show is packaged, the banker, family members, and other nuances that came into play in mid-March were super moves on the part of the Endemol Team…which only solidifies my feeling that Howie & Deal/No Deal could go down in the annals of game show history.

It’s kind of crude, and the banker’s rules are just a percentage of expected value, but if you unhide rows and columns, you can play along with the TV show by deleting suitcase values and seeing what the expected value is.

I love this show have watched it from the very first show on the US chanel with Howie right from the begining every chance I get I have watched it and encouraged family members to do so also. I am a Canadian who has M.S. and would love to know if there is any chance of trying out for your show. I, because of my disability, although not bad enough to cause unlivable restrictions of any kind, am not able to work … my husband has a decent Job but we find its harder even with an ok wage of 60000 a year coming in, to make ends meet with a family of young adults to suport, and I not able to contribute to any degree other than a small government dissability this chance at a big amount of money would go so far. Through the last few years I have found that hot weather and joy of life are great ways to overcome alot of the symptoms of this disease so I have traveled to the states alot to Goergia (a 16 to 20 hour drive that my husband makes with me just for the love he has for me to stay as healthy as possible and in a short weekend to save money then hightails it back home to work to give us the best he can while I take the time to rejuvinate with sun and good friends ) so its Georgia where I have made very good close friends creating very close ties with another aflicted person in a wheelchair and his wife. As well as the scare creating a need in me to live life to the fullest while I still can and take chances reaching out to make new friends both here and in the states .I have a great want to financially help both those I am close to and that enrich my life to the point of being able to deal with a rotten disease daily especially the man who has spent half of his life in a wheel chair while his girlfriend doesnt work to stay home with a very small salary to take care of him yethe and his wife take the time unselfishly to help me learn how to cope with undeserved trials by having caring loving understanding friends .Together with also a use for some of the money ourselves to try to fund a professional to help me aply in the best way to become a dual citizen so that I can enjoy better health in the southern climet and enjoy my new friends and add to their lives some fraction of what they have added to mine while still not having to give up the home I have known all my life and the close ties being able to remain close to the loved ones in Canada including my children three boys 23 to 18 who adore the change in me that traveling to the states has caused but dont want to relinquish their lives to aply to move to the states with us and a special friend who through talking to almost daily on the computer has supported me and helped me grow. If I could apply and get on the show any money won would enrich all these lives evenly…… so many lives! and I think my story is one that would give good ratiings as my story is reveald as to why the money would be such a god send thank you for your consideration or info on where I could enter an aplication to be on your show and even if its not possible we will continue to enjoy this game show that has added the attraction of changing peoples fortunes to showing genuinly heart warming situations that make you want to see the next deserving persons life bettered. thank you for any info that would help …..Anna Andree
