America’s Next Top Model Eliminated Contestant…Brooke, A Little Confidence Goes A Long Way
April 20, 2006 11:31 PM by Joe Blackmon
Brooke is the seventh contestant who is out of the running to becoming America’s Next Top Model. Week after week, the judges gave her clues as to what she had to do to stay in the running. Week after week, the judges recognized the potential and hoped that she would build up the confidence needed to make it in the modeling industry. However, it just was not Brooke’s time to shine. Week after week, we saw her struggle through each photo session. It takes more than just being beautiful to get a good shot. It takes confidence and belief; something that she lacked. In an exclusive interview, we spoke with the soft-spoken Brooke to see how she feels after the elimination and if she will continue to pursue a career in modeling.
Question: Do you feel you were portrayed correctly on the show?
Brooke: Yes, it was pretty accurate. In watching the show I wish I had more confidence. I needed to believe in myself more and I did not do that. I am really friendly and outgoing. They did not show too much of that.
Question: Did you get a lot of advice from Janice Dickinson when she was on the show?
Brooke: I would have liked to get a lot more from Janice. We did not get much.
Question: Did you and Nnenna make up from the fight you had about telephone usage?
Brooke: They did not show it but Nnenna and I made up that same night.
Question: During the challenges, you were emotional, frustrated and did a lot of crying. However, when Tyra said you were the one to go home, you showed no emotion.
Brooke: I knew I was going home and I felt the girls thought I was weak and I did not want to be weak anymore. I promised myself that I was not going to cry.
Question: What was your best and worst photo shoot?
Brooke: My best shoot was the crumping shoot because I thought the photo came out great and I was relaxed and comfortable. The worst shoot was the falling shoot. It is hard to be beautiful and fall at the same time.
Question: After everything you have gone through, do you think you are ready for the real world of modeling?
Brooke: I let what others say get to me and that affected my performance. I know the judges were only giving me constructive criticism. I think I am ready for the modeling industry.
Question: At the elimination ceremony, all of you always look like you just rolled out of bed. Does the show give you time to get yourself ready before the judges see you at the elimination ceremony?
Brooke: Yes, they do. We see the judges in the morning and we do wait around in a room for long periods of time. We do have time to fix ourselves.
Question: What will you do after the show?
Brooke: I would like to move to New York this summer to pursue a career in modeling.
As you can see, the soft-spoken Brooke is a woman of few words. If she does move to New York, her confidence level needs to be over 200%. She did not get that much advice from Janice because she probably was too quiet and Janice did not notice her. This business is not for the shy, quiet person with low self-esteem. It does not seem like she is ready for a career in modeling. She needs some type of classes, guidance and motivation. Week after week, her photos showed no motivation. If this is what she really wants, it will come after she believes she deserves it. Good luck to Brooke, she will need it.
