Do you really think I am going to tell you the name of the winner in the first sentence? Oh No! You are going to read this recap and relive every exciting moment. This has been the best top model to date. Nnenna, Furonda, Sara, Jade, Joanie and Danielle have been the strongest group of girls in one cycle. All had strong photos and should have no problem pursuing a career in modeling. As we look back at the top three girls, Joanie, Jade and Danielle, they all had excellent supermodel photos. The girls have three challenges left before Tyra announces the next winner.
Challenge number one will be a test to eliminate the first girl and then the two remaining girls will walk it out in a major Thailand fashion runway show. Mr. Jay comes to the house to deliver scripts that the girls will have to memorize for their CoverGirl campaign. Of course, Danielle is worried about her speech, Joanie is worried about getting used to smiling with her new teeth and Jade is so confident that she will reign supreme. All night the girls worked on memorizing their scripts. “I am not going home because of my accent,” says Danielle.
The next day the girls arrive on the commercial set for CoverGirl to get their hair and makeup done. All have their hair combed away from their faces so that you can focus on the clean fresh look you can only get with Cover Girl cosmetics. Jade’s hair looked awful. She definitely needed longer hair to soften her look. The color was great however; the styling throughout the competition was awful. Joanie was the first girl to shoot and she did an excellent job. Joanie looks like the entire package of what a model should have to be successful. She is beautiful, takes extremely beautiful photographs, excellent speaking voice, knows how to walk a runway and now has a beautiful smile. What more could you ask for? Jade was the next girl to shoot and she could not remember her lines. She had the nerve to make up her own lines for the commercial. Mr. Jay was not having it and made her do it over, and over and over again. Finally, Jay had to give Jade cue cards. (Hey, that’s cheating.) Only with the cue cards did Jade land the commercial. As Jade walked back to the waiting area where Danielle and Joanie were sitting, Joanie asked Jade, “How did it go?” Jade replied, “Everything worked out perfectly.” Jade did not reveal that she needed cue cards to get through the shoot. Next up was Danielle. Every time the camera was turned on, she turned off. She knew all the lines but panicked and could not remember them. Jay did not offer Danielle cue cards. Maybe if they knew cue cards would have been available, they would not have tried so hard to land the commercial. Finally, country accent and all, Danielle nails the commercial.
Next was the CoverGirl photo shoot that will be featured nationwide for the winner. The photographer told Jade, “Not too diva.” He seemed please to work with Joanie. His comment to her was, “We got this shot.” He almost gave her a high-five. When it was Danielle’s turn he said, “Don’t smile too big.” Throughout the show, we were trying to pick up clues as to who will be the winner. Joanie seems to have it all however, Jade and Danielle are running close as well.
The first elimination ceremony will judge the girls on the CoverGirl commercial and photo shoot. The cast of judges includes Tyra, Miss Jay, Twiggy, Nigel and special guest designer Roj Singhakul. The judges felt that Jade had a nice shoot, good commercial and a beautiful smile. However, through a translator, Roj said that he would not want to buy the mascara from Jade. (What a low blow to Jade’s ego.) Of course, in pure Jade fashion she replied to the judge’s comments and Twiggy mouth dropped to the floor. Jade just does not know how to take criticism and keep her mouth shut. She is lucky to have gotten this far with her attitude. On the other hand, Joanie knows how to play to the camera with her eyes. That’s what the judges’ notice about Joanie. The photos and commercial shoot where good but Roj said, “Your smile is beautiful, but stiff.”
Little does he know that Joanie has new teeth that she just cannot get used to having in her mouth. They almost seem too big as if they were horse teeth or something. Danielle’s CoverGirl shoot was excellent. However, they did not like her commercial. “I did not like it at all,” said Tyra. Even the judge who could not speak one bit of English could hear that her accent prevented her from having a flawless commercial. He also said that he would buy anything from Danielle. The first eliminated girl for the evening is, Let’s freeze for a commercial break to see if Dalia has anything to say,
“Thank goodness Nicole’s reign as a CoverGirl is over. We never have to see her boring commercials again. There is just no energy in the poses, she has the same smile, the same look and there is no excitement behind her voice when talking about the Cover Girl brand. I hope the next girl will breathe life into her commercial and be excited without being overly dramatic about being a CoverGirl. Now back to the show.”
“The first girl still in the running to becoming America’s Next Top Model is Joanie,” says Tyra. Of course, since there are only two girls left, the bottom two is not so bad. Or, is it? The next girl to be eliminated is Jade. This was not a big surprise. Jade has been warned throughout the entire season about her attitude. It is not just about winning challenges and taking great photos; you must have the entire package or have someone willing to work with you on the flaws. Jade’s flaws were so overwhelming that I don’t know who will want to work with a personality so big and arrogant,.
Excuse me, This next commercial interruption is brought to you by Ms. Dalia,
“Jade took great photos but her attitude sucked. She is a bitter, evil little *****. As she left the show, a ton of weight was lifted. We put up with her the entire season and towards the end, enough is enough. Her bubble was burst and I am happy. She is a mini Amorosa, Ms. Evileen from the Apprentice television show. Did you hear her exit speech,? “You will not forget Jade. The judges over looked my confidence for arrogance. My look is in a different realm that people cannot handle,” says the rejected wannabee supermodel, Jade. Jade sucked the energy out of herself with her arrogant attitude and blocked her own energy. Her mother took the negative energy out of Jade’s body. However, it was just too much for her mom to handle. She would have had to give Jade nightly healing blasts. Jade is fake and does not know how to control her own energy. Sorry, girl, try again in another lifetime. Now back to the recap.”
And now there are two,. Danielle, the southern country girl and Joanie, the preacher’s daughter. In their last challenge, both girls will be participating in a huge fashion show for designer Roj Singhakul. “This is the best runway show in Top Model history,” says Mr. Jay. The girls will not be on an elevated stage. They will be at eye level with the audience. The audience will see the good, the bad and all the stumbles. This will also be an afternoon show where the temperature will reach 99 degrees. “It’s a long, long runway and you don’t want to show the audience that you are hot and tired,” says mama Tyra.
The show begins and the girls look great. Joanie seems to be looking down at the ground and if a photographer takes her photo, he could catch her looking down which will make her appear as though her eyes are closed. Tyra said that Joanie’s walk resembles someone walking in a mall. On the other hand, Danielle walk is good but too slow. There was no energy behind the walk and she did well but did not stand out from the other girls in the show. Danielle slipped a few times but covered it up so well that it was not an issue.
Both girls did so well that it could be a tie and both could share the title. Okay, bad idea but that’s how close it is. Can you guess who won from the clues in this recap? The show did a great job and the outcome could have been anyone’s guess. The judges love both girls; however, America’s Next Top Model is, Danielle! Congratulations to Danielle on a great season. We all look forward in seeing exciting CoverGirl commercials.
In episode nine, I made an observation. Here is an excerpt of what I wrote, “The girls had their first Thai lesson but Danielle was not feeling very well. She had been suffering with a migraine all day. After the Thai lesson, we see someone carrying Danielle to a van to take her to the hospital. Danielle said her entire body was numb and she was shaking all over. This reminds me of cycle one when Adrienne was rushed to the hospital, missed one of challenges because of her illness, and left the hospital to make the elimination ceremony and won the competition. Do you think we will see this happen to Danielle? When a tremendous blessing comes, there are all types of tests to see if you can weather the storm. Danielle has had a sprained ankle and now she has a little food poisoning, dehydration and exhaustion.”
The next time tremendous challenges come your way, it’s not a set back but a set up. There will be a tremendous blessing to follow. Dalia and I have enjoyed bringing you weekly recaps of Top Model and I hope you enjoyed reading them. Until next cycle, have a great summer.
