After watching the penultimate episode of The Apprentice 5, we started wondering how The Apprentice 5 finale will ever live up to last season’s shocker when Trump tried to hire both Randal and Rebecca, but Randal refused to share the Apprentice title. Our guess is that Trump might be setting it up to fire both remaining candidates and hire no one. Both Lee and Sean seem to be encountering major issues with their tasks, and it’s very possible that neither of them will run a successful event.
The penultimate episode kicked off with Trump calling both Lee and Sean to the boardroom and telling them that they are the final two. Trump asked Lee and Sean to go back to the suite and to each pick three former candidates for their teams. All the former candidates turned out to be waiting in the suite to surprise Lee and Sean.
Sean chose Tammy, Andrea, and Tarek. Lee chose Lenny, Pepi, and Roxanne. Trump assigned Lee and Sean the task of managing two large charity events. Lee wound up with a Pontiac celebrity hockey event benefiting the Dennis Leary Fire Fighter Foundation, and Sean wound up with a Barenaked Ladies Concert in Atlantic City benefiting the World Wildlife Foundation. Trump questioned Lee’s judgment in picking Pepi, who was one of the first candidates to get fired.
Sean’s meeting with the World Wildlife Foundation executive went very smoothly, but Lee struggled to come up with ideas that were appealing to the Dennis Leary Fire Fighter Foundation executive. Lee did manage to convince the Pontiac executives to auction off two cars for the charity event, but the Pontiac executives felt that Lee missed an opportunity by not asking them to match the donations raised. Tarek and Andrea also convinced a Pontiac executive to donate two cars for Sean’s charity event, but Sean seemed more interested in spending time with Tammy rather than being present for crucial meetings.
Carolyn Kepcher went as far as to say she didn’t like Lee’s laid back approach to running the event. Liz, the executive for the Dennis Leary Fire Fighter Foundation, became so concerned with Lee running the event that she insisted on getting a walkthrough. Things also looked bleak for Sean, who lost Andrea from his team, because she was coughing up blood. Could it be that there will be no one hired to be The Apprentice?
