You’ve been reading about it in newspapers and magazines such as USA Today and the National Enquirer. You’ve been checking out the pictures on JokersUpdates and the reviews on Musical Ramblings. Now is your chance to catch a glimpse of the Reality TV Convention that has everybody in the reality world talking. Starting on Thursday, June 15, Fox Reality’s Reality Remix will be airing three different segments featuring the Reality TV Convention, the Reality TV Stars Concert, and the TV Grapevine Big Brother Celebrity Party.
What really happened between Jonny Fairplay and MJ Garrett? What did Jessica Sierra say during the American Idol panel? Who got ice water dumped on them at the Big Brother Celebrity Party? What is Marguerite “God Warrior” Perrin really like? These are just some of the questions that have been buzzing about the event that USA Today described as having “all the makings of its own reality show â⬔ a little drama, some crazy antics and a funky cast of characters.”
The world’s first ever Reality TV Convention was held in early June in Nashville, Tennessee. Reality TV stars from shows like American Idol, Amazing Race, Big Brother, The Biggest Loser, Survivor, Unan1mous, and more signed autographs and participated in panel discussions. On Saturday night, there were two convention after parties: a Reality TV Stars Concert featuring American Idol 4 finalists Jessica Sierra, Scott Savol, and Lindsey Cardinale and a TV Grapevine Big Brother Celebrity Party featuring James Rhine, Sarah Hrejsa, Howie Gordon, Rachel Plencner, Josh Souza, and Erika Landin.
The reality stars appearing won rave reviews for the way they interacted with fans at the convention. In an article entitled “Reality buffs rub shoulders with their heroes at convention,” The Tennessean reported “Cast members from shows across the reality TV spectrum, from "The Real Gilligan’s Island," to "Beauty & The Geek" and "The Bachelor," warmly welcomed their admirers, taking pictures with them and signing autographs as, of course, a camera crew roamed the room.”
The United Press International reported “The recent Reality TV Convention in Nashville drew not only fans, but compliments for the 80 reality stars who attended the event.” The United Press International quotes a convention attendee as telling some of the stars, “You guys were my inspiration.”
Several reality TV related businesses and websites hosted booths at the convention including Reality Speaking (a company that books reality TV stars for speaking engagements), Reality Trips (a company that offers adventure trips with reality TV stars), Reality Wanted (a website where people can get information on applying for their favorite reality TV shows), National Lampoon (a company that has several upcoming movies that include reality TV stars), TV Gravepevine (a TV news website), Fox Reality (an all-reality tv network) and The Block Agency (an agency that counts several popular reality stars such as MJ Garrett and Kassie Miller among their clients).
The first Reality TV Convention segment will air on Reality Remix on Thursday, June 15 and will be a convention overview. The second segment will air on Reality Remix on Friday, June 16 and will focus on the Reality TV Stars concert. The third segment will air on Reality Remix on Wednesday, June 21 and will focus on the TV Grapevine Big Brother Celebrity Party. If your local cable service doesn’t carry Fox Reality (which if this is the case then that is something you should lodge a complaint with them about immediately), then you can also view Reality Remix online at RealityRemix.tv on each of these days in the afternoon.
