Julie Chen appeared as a guest on the Late Show With David Letterman on June 19, 2006. Before Julie Chen came out, David Letterman polished off his desk because he wanted to make a good impression since her husband owned the network. Letterman initially asked Julie about her work with the CBS Early Show. Letterman then asked about her marriage with Les Moonves.
Letterman finally asked Julie Chen to explain the Big Brother All-Stars show. Julie gave a brief overview of the show, pointing out that it’s about strangers living together in a house, where one person gets voted out each week. Letterman said he understood that part, but he wanted an explanation of who the All-Stars were. Julie Chen responded “These are people from season one through six coming back.” Letterman asked if there has ever been a person go nuts, where they had to get them out of the house. Julie responded “yes” and then explained how security guards go in and take them out.
When asked if the houseguests were normal, Julie responded “I don’t know if I would say normal, but they are interesting.” Julie also explained the public voting process, which prompted Letterman to ask “what if the public doesn’t care?” Julie responded “Then we will pick them ourselves.”
