In the second episode of Treasure Hunters, the most entertainment value was actually provided by the teams that battled it out for last place. Only on Treasure Hunters can a team spend eleven hours wandering aimlessly around a mine, oversleep and leave four hours later than the first place team, and stop in the middle of an elimination task in order to drive eighty miles to go get a hamburger and not be eliminated. Yes if the public was allowed to vote in Treasure Hunters, then there is no doubt that the Wild Hanlons would earn the endorsement of VoteForTheWorst.com.
The Wild Hanlons initially fought their way into last place at the Lexington Mine. After reading a bucket with the words “bend the light,” most teams figured out to pour water in the bucket to read the clue at the bottom. However, the Wild Hanlons spent eleven hours wandering the mine and staring at the walls before this thought dawned on them.
The Wild Hanlons then solidified their last place position by sleeping four hours longer than the first place team before starting a canoe trip down the Missouri River. Unfortunately for the Wild Hanlons, a couple other teams ran into trouble. The Brown Family flipped over their canoe and temporarily gave up on the game because Keith Brown can’t swim, and Jessica on the Grad Students team stepped in a hole and injured her knee.
Due to these setback by the Brown Family and the Grad Students, the Wild Hanlons lost their strangle hold on last place. In one last desperate move to regain last place, the Wild Hanlons stopped in the middle of deciphering the Lewis & Clark secret code to go get a hamburger. However, despite their best efforts to lose Treasure Hunters, the Wild Hanlons returned to decipher the code and find the second artifact ahead of the Brown Family. The Brown Family became the second team eliminated from Treasure Hunters.
