Gabriel Iglesias Kicked Off Last Comic Standing For Breaking Rules

July 11, 2006 11:26 PM by Joe Blackmon

Gabriel_iglesias_rulesFor the last challenge, the comics vote for a comic that they want to roast.  Gabriel Iglesias wins the vote.  The three judges for the roast are Phyllis Diller, Gilbert Gottfried, and Alonzo Bodden.  Most of the jokes center around Gabriel’s weight.  For example, Josh Blue jokes “they say you are what you eat…that poor Vietnamese family.”  The judges select Chris Porter as the winner.  For his reward, Chris is flown to Las Vegas to perform with Louie Anderson and gets a one year membership in The Friars Club.

Back at the boat, Kristin Key catches Gabriel Iglesias communicating on a blackberry.  This is a problem because it’s against the rules for the contestants to use any communications device besides the house phone.  After the producers took his blackberry away, Gabriel snuck out and made another phone call.  The executive producers met with Gabriel and said they had no choice but to send him home for breaking the rules.

Each of the comics vote for someone they think they are funnier than.  The vote results in a three way tie between Ty Barnett, Rebecca Corry, and Kristin Key, so all three perform in the head to head competition.  The winner with 69% of the audience vote is Ty Barnett.  Both Rebecca Corry and Kristin Key are eliminated.  The final five comedians are are Michele Balan, Josh Blue, Roz, Ty Barnett, and Chris Porter.

Getting kicked out for trying to communicate with the world is not a good reason. The comics have many things going. To only have them use the house phone can hurt their books and if things are not well at home , it could be problems. I understand they have rules and this one seems a bit to far out since most of the comics have several ventures going on at the same time. This is more a pet pea in my limited eyes.

this is so obviously fixed. Gabriel was far and above the rest. even though there are some awesomely talented people in that final group, it was painfully obvious that he would win had this been legit. and for an opportunity like this??? to blow it on flagrantly breaking rules not once but twice??? please.. he’s not stupid. this is like the other so called reality shows we’ve seen that turn out to be not so ‘real’.

Gabriel getting kicked off… not reality tv. Feeling stung again by ratings grabbers. I got the pleasure of getting to see Gabriel live at a comedy improv and he is a really funny guy and deserving of the title “last comic standing”, winning all of the awards bestowed. I am losing interest in these so called reality contests. Let’s just get a great 30 minute sit-com with Gabriel in the staring role and forget reality tv.
