“Joseph, your show has been cancelled”….Last night (Sunday, July 30, 2006) Clive Pearse, host of HGTV Design Star, invoked his signature closing phrase on HGTV’s hot new competition reality series on home design.
Joseph Kennard took the bullet this week. As team-leader on the second episode’s challenge he and his group were asked to re-invent the living room of a Long Island house that has been on the market for 8 months. They made a few fatal mistakes, including painting over a family heirloom and sawing the couch in half.
Check out Joseph’s “day of reckoning” footage from last night’s episode and an interview with Joseph after he got his walking papers on HGTV.com. There are still 8 more creative and energetic contestants left. Viewers will also be able to vote for the winning designer beginning September 3.
The next episode of HGTV Design Star will air on Sunday, August 6, 2006 at 9pm ET/PT. The designers will work on their own individual rooms for the first time. But it’s a surprise, as their creativity and talent are put to the test when they shop at only one unusual specialty store. The real surprise? Who gets cancelled!
