Ashton Kutcher To Produce The Real Wedding Crashers For NBC

August 28, 2006 07:14 PM by Joe Blackmon

NBC will introduce the new reality series "The Real Wedding Crashers," inspired by last year’s hit New Line feature film "Wedding Crashers" – to be produced by New Line Television and Katalyst Films ("Punk’d") — that will feature hidden cameras that will record improvisational actors who go undercover at real weddings to bring an added element of surprise to the traditional proceedings.

Katalyst’s Ashton Kutcher, Jason Goldberg and Karey Burke will be executive producers of the six-episode series along with New Line’s Jon Kroll ("Amazing Race," "Amish in the City") and Jim Rosenthal ("Blade").

The announcement was made today by Craig Plestis, Senior Vice President, Alternative Programming, Development and Specials, NBC Entertainment.

"Everyone loved ‘Wedding Crashers’ and we wanted to see if we could capture that same kind of inspired frivolity in a real-life series," said Plestis. "Working with Ashton and knowing his memorable experiences with the jokes he pulled off on ‘Punk’d’ made it that much more enticing. This series has a big upside potential for hidden-camera humor."

The pranksters are expected to do more than liven up the stress and drama common to many weddings. They also intend to occasionally bring families together in emotional moments.

Boycott any shows produced by Jason Goldberg. For instance… The Real Wedding Crashers. Goldberg is a complete jerk and does not behave professionally on set and treats the people who work for him like dirt. Ashton Kutcher and Katalyst should sit him down and remind him that he’s lucky to have a job in Hollywood at all.

L, you really need to get over your hatred for some guy doing a reality tv show. Grow up, and move on in your life and stop hating.

I’m interested in being part of the real wedding crashers. I’m getting married in Vegas 3/08/08 and we haven’t made any plans yet. sounds like fun! Let me know. Thank you.

The worst of this style of show. I don’t even think the audience members thought twice about the petty “tricks”. I was so embarrased for the the actors when they had to announce the prank as if it were a big deal. I used to think that Girls Behaving Badly would blow the shockingness of their pranks out of proportion.
