Rock Star Supernova – A Storm Hits Rock Star

September 05, 2006 09:24 PM by Joe Blackmon

Storm_daveTo kick off the show, Brook Burke points out that last week’s eliminated rock singer Ryan Star has the top three music downloads on MSN.com, including the number one spot with his original “Back Of My Car.”  Brooke Burke also reveals that Dilana ripped a calf muscle in rehearsal, but like a true rock professional she is still going to perform.  For her first song, Dilana performs “Behind Blue Eyes” by The Who.  For her second song, Dilana performs the original song “SuperSoul.”  After Dave Navarro compliments Dilana on not letting her injury affect her performance, Dave Navarro says “Your original wasn’t really my favorite thing that I’ve heard out of you.”  However, Tommy Lee says “I might have to box Dave here in a little bit, because I really did dig the original track.”

For his first song, Magni performs “Back In The U.S.S.R.” by The Beatles.  For his second song, Magni performs the original song “When The Time Comes.”  Dave Navarro says “I think that’s the most aggressive I’ve heard your voice this entire show.”  Tommy Lee complains that both of the performances were pretty much the same.  Gilby Clarke says “Great job in general, loved it.”

For her first song, Storm Large performs “Suffragette City” by David Bowie.  Dave Navarro joins her on the stage on guitar.  For her second song, Storm Large performs the original song “LadyLike.”  Dave Navarro says “My favorite original that I’ve heard on this whole show and last season too.”  Gilby Clarke says “Great Bowie tune and great Storm Large song.”

For his first song, Lukas Rossi performs “Livin’ On A Prayer” by Jon Bon Jovi.  For his second song, Lukas Rossi performs the original song “Headspin.”  Dave Navarro says “You’ve also now just shown us this powerful, emotional, heavy handed side of you, which I dug, dude.” Gilby Clarke says “I get inspired when I watch you perform.”

For his first song, Toby Rand performs “Mr. Brightside” by The Killers.  For his second song, Toby Rand performs the original song “Throw It Away.”  Dave Navarro says “Your original song, instantaneously memorable.”  Gilby Clarke says “Every time you perform you put the fun in rock n’ roll.”

Instead of revealing the bottom three, Brooke Burke reveals the highest to lowest order of the early voting results. Toby is first, Lukas is second, Magni is third, Storm is fourth, and Dilana is fifth.  Storm Large will likely get the encore for her original song.  It’s a tough call for who will be going home, but if early voting is any indication, then it looks like one time favorite Dilana could get the hatchet.  Magni could also be at risk if he falls into the bottom three, but look for Iceland to keep him safe in the overnight voting.

Rock Star Supernova Hits and Misses on Sept 5

Rock Star Supernova is down to the final 5 and the aspect of writing and performing original songs was brought into the competition this evening. Both Toby Rand and Storm Large took the opportunity and ran with while Lukas Rossi and Dilana seemed to fl…

Best of the night: Storm and Toby

    Worst: Lukas

Am I missing something about Lukas? I have never enjoyed any of his performances and think he mumbles too much instead of singing. The band loves him and seems to have made their pick already. So I ask, is Supernova mistaking lack of talent for genius?

Storm has been my favorite from the beginning! Last night she rocked! She’s a true artist. She has class, talent AND a GREAT attitude!! Something that is highly lacking in some of the Rock Stars … past & present … Lukas & Ryan to be blunt! They both have rotten attitudes, can’t take critiscism constructive or otherwise & neither one of them have any stage presence at all! Hopefully when making their up their minds, SuperNova will think past the performer on stage to the performer they have to tour w/, work w/, live w/, etc… Lukas is definately NOT someone I see as having much in common w/ Gilby, Tommy and Jason both on and off stage.

All I can say is “Go Storm!!!”

Storm was amazing last night! I think she saved herself from elimination.

Toby brought it too…he was great…the guy can sing anything. Fabulous range.

Magni was good too, but just a bit outshined, I thought, by strong performances by Toby & Storm.

I really liked Dilana’s set too…loved what she did with BBE, and I was expecting her original to suck, but it didn’t at all! The guys are so obviously hating on her…..it’s pathetic actually. I thought they were unfair, as always, to her.

And what a surprise that the guys all loved Pukas…..NOT. Personally, I did not understand one single word he “sang” last night…..if you can call it singing.
I thought the crowd wasn’t all that into his performance either…..probably because it’s SO tired. Been there, done that is his whole gig……hmmm come to think of it, that sounds about right for SN.

Funny thing is, if you’re gonna pick your singer before the show, why on earth would you choose the LEAST talented, MOST boring?!

I found that Magni and Toby’s sets just sort of went on and on, with not much there to get me excited. I do agree that Storm kicked major booty last night. Dilanna blew me away with Behind Blue Eyes…and her original wasn’t all that horrible either. I didn’t like the way Lukas mumbled on Living on A Prayer,( but that is only because that has been my absolute fave song for 20 years.) But I have to give him kudos…his original really was very good, and I was actually moved to tears.

Many of the comments previously posted sum up the way we feel about Lucas – He mumbles! YUCK!

Loved Dilana & Storm last night-two great performers. Currently don’t own anything with Tommy Lee – however, if either of these two win – I’ll be sure to own everything Supernova!

Dilana has been our favorite from night one – and Storm has been building momentum. Thoses eyes – wow!

I think the best fit for this band is Dilana or Lukas. Storm tries too hard to be a bad ass and Toby just doesn’t fit in. Magni has a great voice but I can’t see him with this band.

Unfortunately Magni will be going home. He was too real for the classless fakers of this show.

Here is the real Magni a Rocker and an honest man.

wow.. you guys on here must not be listening… Lukas has been the most original performer on here.. who could take a bon jovi song and rock it like that.. no one else but Lukas… the kid has talent…

Could someone please enlighten me about the infatuation with Storm? She’s as fake as fake gets. She bounces around on the stage like a wannabe hip-hop artist (with appropriate hand gestures). Her sincerity is…oh, nil. All that’s bad enough…but the girl can’t sing, either. She hasn’t hit three consecutive notes on pitch yet in 10 weeks.
*Shaking head*…I just don’t get it.

    1. Turn on corporate radio and hear a band that sounds like Lukas every minute. He is so not original.

    2. Who would take a Bon Jovi song and slaughter it like that? Well anyone could do it that bad. I’m not seeing the talent behind a version like that.

    3. No one but Lukas is right. No one would mumble and gargle like that and think their poo didn’t stink like he does after a performance that bad.

Maybe I am showing my age by growing up when Floyd, Led Zep. etc. were all “new”. I think it is funny that people born late ninties and after think all this new music on radio is any good. I remember when bands actually wrote 10-12 well thought out, well crafted songs for their new cd. Now all they do is write 1-2 “singles”, add some filler and concentrate on the look for Mtv. No wonder people download…

Remember, don’t mistake lack of talent for genius!

You know that girl boy thing these TV producers have in keeping the audience hooked is really dumb just about as dumb as the midget mexican white gay man’s acting ability. Did you see that pitiful performance of Navarro with that beyond lame attempt to act spontaneous and get up and perform with Storm. Wow, that looked live – NOT. That was as fake as Storm’s rubber tits. Now tonight she goes home. Even with Navarro and Lee oozing over her performances they send her home. What a bunch of pansies to keep Pukis over Storm.

I will sum it up this way, Lee has problems with women. The record is clear: failed marriage, children’s lives in shambles, court appearances, convictions and jail time. This soda jerk just can not deal with strong women. Look at how Dilana was edited into a muttering emotional basket case. Gee, I wonder what Tommy’s muttering emotional state was when Bubba told him to bend over in the LA County lock-up?

Storm you rock and you do not need the midget mexican white gay man or those store bought rubber tits to prove to me that you know how to rock. Nor do you need these over the hill has-beens. I am glad you did not make it with these losers because you are better than all of them.

Please take your new found public and Rock-it. Now get out there and sell that single – I will buy the album.

    Dave Navarro’s Tool: Mr. Majestic

    Encore = Toby
    SN Song = Magni

Storm sang: ‘Wish You Were Here’ by Pink Floyd
Dilana sang: ‘I Want You to Want Me’ by Cheap Trick
    Lukas sang: ‘Headspin’ again

    Good by: Storm

Lukas’ version of Livin’ on a Prayer was fantastic. I’m not some young kid either that doesn’t “get” music. I’m in my late 40′s and I love the original Bon Jovi song..but Lukas made that song his own and it was great. Headspin was so intense and inspiring..it brought tears to my eyes. I’ll follow Lukas’ career with or without SN. If he doesn’t win..it is their loss
