The eagerly-anticipated season finale of HGTV Design Star which aired on Sunday, 9/10/06 at 9:00 p.m. was the #1 primetime program in ad supported cable among A25-54 with a 1.7 rating. Since the show’s premiere on 7/23/06, all airings of HGTV Design Star have been sampled by more than 24,000,000 P2+ .
The season finale garnered HGTV’s highest-ever prime time rating among households with a 2.5 — a 159 percent increase over the premiere episode. The episode also delivered the highest ever regularly scheduled primetime program rating among key demos, including A25-54 with a 1.7 rating and P18-49 with a 1.3 rating . In addition, the finale achieved highest-ever ratings among W25-54 with a 2.3 rating and M25-54 with a 1.1 rating. M18-49 also garnered a highest-ever 0.9 rating .
HGTV Design Star on Sunday at 9:00 p.m. broke audience records among households and key demos, delivering the highest ever regularly scheduled prime time program average impressions among HHs in all key demos: HHs (2,285,000), A18+ (2,836,000), M18+ (815,000), A18-49 (1,415,000), and A25-54 (1,731,000).
Driven by the success of HGTV Design Star, the network also delivered its highest ever prime time (M-Su 8P-11P) rating on Sunday, 9/10/06 among households (1.8) and in several key demos including A18-49 (0.9), A25-54 (1.2), A25-49 (1.1), W25-54 (1.6) and W25-49 (1.5). Sunday’s prime time also broke audience records among HHs and key demos, delivering the highest ever prime time (M-Su 8P-11P) average audience among: A18+ (1,959,000), A18-49 (945,000), W18-49 (652,000), A25-49 (902,000), W25-49 (623,000), A25-54 (1,174,000), and W25-54 (825,000).
