Dog The Family Speaks Special To Air On A&E

September 16, 2006 11:02 PM by Joe Blackmon

Dog_the_family_speaksDog, Leland and Tim Chapman were taken into custody by U.S. Marshals early Thursday morning in connection with charges stemming from their 2003 arrest of convicted serial rapist, Andrew Luster.  Andrew Luster, the famed heir to the Max Factor cosmetics fortune, was convicted of drugging and raping three women over a four year span.  During his trial in 2003, Luster fled the country to Mexico.

In June 2003, Dog and his team tracked the fugitive Luster in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where he was living under an alias, and arrested him.  As bounty hunting is illegal in Mexico, Dog, Tim and Leland were arrested by the Mexican authorities and Luster was handed over to the United States government by the Mexicans.  He was subsequently found guilty and is currently serving a 124 year prison sentence.  After being released on bail, Dog, his family and team, returned to Hawaii and to their lives as bounty hunters.

Thursday at 6:00am, U.S. Marshals stormed Dog’s home and took him into custody.  They then did the same to Leland and Tim.  The three are being held in Honolulu where they will face an extradition hearing to Mexico.  There will be a hearing in Hawaii today at 3:00pm local time.  At that point we will have more details to share with you.

Dog, Leland and Tim were all released on Friday night on bail, as the judge concluded they are not flight risks. While out on bail, they will be required to remain in the state and wear electronic monitoring devices until they return to court for extradition hearings to face trial in Mexico. No date has been set for those hearings,  and we will continue to update you as more details become available.

Hear Dog and Beth tell the full story in their own words on Tuesday at 10PM/ET exclusively on A&E’s original presentation – DOG: THE FAMILY SPEAKS. The special features post-release interviews and behind-the-scenes footage from the trying ordeal. Additionally, tune in to NBC’s Today Show on Monday morning to see Dog and Beth interviewed live by Matt Lauer.

I think it’s wrong for them to have been arrested. After all they brought a serial rapist to justice, which is something not even the FBI could do. We should be thanking them not arresting them.

I think that The should just leave The Dog and his Crew alone. The did a good thing bringing a Rapist to justice. They need to be praised not arrested!!! God bless the Chapman Family!!!!!!!

How’s it feel to wear the bracelets “again” pup. Criminals should not have any powers of seizure and apprehension. I am sure at least one of your 5 wives would agree with me…! Anyways going into a sovereign country without any warrant is a big no-no, but I wouldn’t expect a derelict like you puppy boy to understand. Maybe your Squid father didn’t bet enough sense of respect for autnority into your ass…! Cheers pooch, maybe this will put your arrogance in the pound where you belong.

The previous comment by “lawdog” is way out of line! The fact that the Chapman Family was able to find Luster & get him off the streets is reason enough to not be arresting them. Would the country of Mexico rather they have left Luster alone so he could walk their streets only to drug and rape their women?!

Well, I think lawdog’s comment is not only out of line, but it is flat out there to start an internet “flameware”, I disregarded it and I think you should all do the same. I think it’s unfortunate for the “dog” team, and i’m fairly certain that the Mexican authorities will expunge him of any wrongdoing. However they broke the law and thus they have to stand trial for it. Personally I applaud the Chapman family for their decision to “get him anyway”, bringing a rapist to justice. My only beef is that I doubt it was really necessary to “storm” their houses. But hey, if there’s any positive way to see it for the Chapmans, the ratings to tuesdays shows are bound to be off the charts. I know I’ll be watching. Let’s not start blaming people, everyone’s just doing their jobs here.

I think what Dog , Leland , & Tim did was a very good thing for the U.S and for Mexico. They were the only ones that were able to get that piece ofsLuster off of the streets, to protect all of the ladies in the world!!! Go Dog & your crew yall are the VERY BEST!!!LOVE YALL!!!

He broke the law and he deserves to pay the price just like everyone else. Going into another country and illegally apprehending someone is quite stupid. Maybe next time he’ll learn to read up on the laws before making an ass of himself. This could have all been avoided had he not been an idiot and obeyed the laws. There was no excuse not to obey the laws, he is not special or above the law.

I love it when people write in to try to sound smart and offer an opinion and can’t even spell correctly or use proper grammar.

I love it when people post anonymously, because they are too cowardly to stand by their own opinions.

I was upset when I heard the Chapman family had been disrupted by US Marshalls. I think what Dog and his crew did was bring a low life serial rapist back to face up to the HORRIBLE things he did to many women!! I applaud Dog and his crew for being able to find him and bring him back to the US!! The Mexican government should be shaking their hands because they won’t have to worry about him doing any harm to their women (who’s to say he didn’t already take advantage of quite a few)!!! Don’t worry, DOG, I am standing behind you and what you believe in!!

Hey everyone, im from Canada, and i’ve been reading up on whats happend to the Chapman family and think its terrible. If anyone did such a heroic act like that and came back to Canada there is no way that he would have to deal with all this bull. I’m sure everyone in the US of A is doing a good job in supporting Dog and his family out, im certain the people will keep Dwayne, Leland, And Tim from getting Extradited and just wanted to say that Canada’s got your back too!
    Dogs the man!

I feel what is happening to the Chapmans is horrible and a disgrace to our country. They go after a most wanted criminal that our marshals could not find, spend their money, do not collect a reward and we charge into their homes and arrest them instead of giving them a heros welcome. get them out!!!! of this terribe injustice. So many people are watching this all you politicians..

This show doesnt make any sense, even as low comedy. Dog and his wife family are like white Bobby Browns just waiting for the next criminal to breath so Dog can jump into action like a low-rent superhero.
Everyone in this show is butt-ugly(its worse than Flavor of Love because that’s campy junk)
This dog food trys to spin political stories and score easy points with liberalism gone wrong!
And the Dog himself seems smaller than life-like a campy motorcycle hound with his babe in tow!!
Trailer park trash disquise as squishy family “drama” with cliches everywhere.
The criminals are everyday scutterbugs just waiting for Dog to apprehend them with a sneer!!
Dog isnt a hero and he lacks the wit of a cartoon hero.
Docked many notches because the wife comes across as worse than Dog–like a Trailer-park queen with wisequacks and sweet nothings for her Dog.
The Dogfood of Reality shows, this is a bone!!
Rate this one: 1/100 of one Star!!
    Sorry, Dog!!!

I wonder if anyone has any comments on the faith of Duane ‘the Dog’ Chapman.

There is a discussion about this at http://redletterbelievers.blogspot.com/2007/04/dog-bounty-hunter-gods-bloodhound.html
