December 21, 2006 12:29 AM by Joe Reality

By year’s end, Carrie Underwood, the reigning CMA Female Vocalist of the Year, is on pace to capture the most weeks at #1 on Billboard’s country album sales chart and airplay chart.  Her debut disc, Some Hearts, should tally 14 weeks at the chart’s summit in 2006.

According to yesterday’s SoundScan information reflecting last week’s retail activity, Underwood scanned 199,114 units and claims the #1 best-selling country album and #6 best-selling all-genre album.  In 2006, her chart-topping singles have accumulated 11 weeks at #1.

This 19 Recordings/Arista Nashville hitmaker was recently honored with Album of the Year (all genres) in Billboard’s year-end print issue and on their Fox-televised annual awards show.  She also received Billboard awards for Country Album of the Year, Female Billboard 200 Album Artist of the Year, Female Country Artist of the Year and New Country Artist of the Year.  Since its release on November 15, 2005, Carrie Underwood’s Some Hearts has scanned 4,294,504 units.
