After making some tongue in cheek predictions for reality TV for 2007, we started thinking about things that we would really like to see happen in 2007. Below is a list of our reality TV wishes for 2007.
A Record Deal For Elliott Yamin – Taylor Hicks, Chris Daughtry, Katharine McPhee, & Kellie Pickler have all scored record deals. Elliott Yamin has been signed to a publishing contract, but a record deal seems like it is always a rumored week or two away. While the latest rumor is that an announcement could come soon, Elliott fans are anxious to know something official. Hardly a day goes by that we don’t receive an email from a Yaminite hungry for news, and our wish for 2007 is that we will finally have something to report.
More Albums From American Idol 4 Finalists – Even though the focus of late has been on American Idol 5 finalists, the American Idol 4 finalists are not forgotten. Carrie Underwood had an incredible 2006, and we can’t wait for her second album. We’re also looking forward to a second album from Bo Bice, hopefully featuring more of his original songs. We would also love to see some debut albums from some of the other season 4 finalists. Scott Savol, Nadia Turner, Jessica Sierra, Lindsey Cardinale, Anthony Fedorov, and Vonzell Solomon are all said to be working on albums.
Big Brother All Stars On The Amazing Race – Since the upcoming season of Amazing Race 11 is an All Stars edition, part of us thinks that Amazing Race 12 should be all unknown contestants. However, the other part of us misses seeing the likes of Howie Gordon, Kaysar Ridha, James Rhine, Janelle Pierzina, Will Kirby, etc. on TV. The part of us that misses the Big Brother All Stars wins out, and we hope that Amazing Race 12 will feature several of our favorite Big Brother stars as teams.
More Real People On Survivor – Despite the fact that several members of the Survivor Cook Islands cast had acting experience in their pasts, it was one of the most real and genuine casts in years. In previous years Survivor seemed to be turning into a vacation getaway for wannabe models and actors, but by adding more diversity to the cast, Survivor Cook Islands castaways turned out to be a group that everyday people could relate to. We hope the trend continues and that future editions of Survivor include diverse, real, everyday people.
Second Season Of American Inventor Lives Up To It’s Potential – We had high hopes for the original season of American Inventor, but inconsistent decisions by the judges, excessive recapping by ABC, and lack of a focus on the inventive process made the show a disappointment. We’re glad that the show got picked up for a second season, because we really think the show is a good idea and we hope it succeeds the second time around.
The Apprentice Los Angeles Is Good – The Apprentice 5 was unfortunately the worst season ever of one of our favorite reality TV shows. To be honest, no season has yet to measure up to the stellar first season, and even Donald Trump knows it, because Bill Rancic is the former Apprentice that he keeps bringing back for guest appearances. NBC announced some interesting new twists for The Apprentice Los Angeles, and we’re hoping for a new season that rivals the original.
