The 33rd Annual People’s Choice Awards hosted by Queen Latifah, was broadcast live from the Shrine Auditorium
in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Januay 9, 2007 on
the CBS Television Network. In the favorite competition/reality series category, American Idol, Deal or No Deal, and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition were nominated for the award.
It should come as no surprise that America’s #1 television show America Idol came out on top and won the award. American Idol 4 Winner Carrie Underwood was up for two People’s Choice Awards, and considering how she cleaned up at the recent CMA Awards, it should also come as no surprise that she won both of them.
Carrie Underwood won the award for Favorite Female singer over Faith Hill and Shakira, and she also won for favorite country song for "Before He Cheats." In the favorite country song category, Carrie Underwood beat out Racal Flatts’ "What Hurts the Most" and Tim McGraw’s "When the Stars Go Blue."
The 33rd Annual People’s Choice Awards was produced by Procter & Gamble Productions, Inc. The People’s Choice Awards is fully sponsored by products of Procter & Gamble, which is represented by MediaVest Worldwide, Inc., supervisors of the production. Carol Donovan ("GQ Men of the Year Awards") was the executive producer for the third year. Central Talent Booking was the talent consultant. Bruce Gowers ("The American Music Awards") directed the special.
