American Idol Los Angeles Auditions – Panther On The Prowl

January 31, 2007 10:39 PM by Joe Reality

Martik_pantherGuest judge Olivia Newton-John joined Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul, and
Simon Cowell for the American Idol 6 Los Angeles auditions.  Martik
Manoukian from Tujunga, California kicked off the auditions by showing
off his panther moves.  Martik sang “Sweetest Princess.”  Simon Cowell
described the audition as “horrific” and “horrendous.”

Sholandric Stallworth from Los Angeles, California sang “If Ever You’re In My Arms Again.”  Simon Cowell pulled out another h-words and called his audition “hideous.”  Angela Mo, Grace Pugal, Sophat Peou, Marianna Riccio all auditioned and met with quick rejection.  Marianna got down on her knees and begged to sing another song, but all the judges said no.

Struggling singer Alaina Alexander from West Hollywood, California was ready to give up on the music business and called American Idol her last chance.  Alaina sang “Feeling Good.”  Simon Cowell called the performance “really, really, really, really great.”  All the other judges said yes as well, and Alaina made it through to Hollywood.

When Phuong Pham told her mom that she was going to try out for American Idol, her mom told her that she wasn’t “TV pretty.”  Phuong sang “Dancing In The Streets,” while attempting to channel Taylor Hicks’ dancing style.  Simon Cowell said he wasn’t sure if the singing or the dancing was worse.

Background singer Brandon Rogers from North Hollywood, California sang “Always On My Mind.”  After Brandon’s audition, Paula Abdul applauded, and Simon Cowell called it by far the best audition of the day.

Brian Miller from Placentia, California sang “A Change Is Going To Come.”  Even though Simon Cowell thought he was forgettable, the other three judges put him through to Hollywood.

Sixty-four year old Sherman Pore told the judges that he was coming on American Idol for his lady love who recently passed away from cancer.  Sherman sang “You Belong To Me.”  Since Sherman was over the age limit, he didn’t make it through, but he was actually one of the best auditions of the show.   Simon Cowell shook Sherman’s hand and Paula Abdul and Olivia Newtwon-John gave him a hug.

Cavett “Sparkles” Carr flirted with Simon Cowell during her audition, while her boyfriend Darold Gray waited outside with Ryan Seacrest.  Despite the obvious romantic connection between Sparkles and Simon Cowell, she didn’t make it through to Hollywood.  Her boyfriend Darold Gray was also rejected by the judges.

Eric Mueller from West Covina, California claimed that people were going to hear his voice and say that they hadn’t heard anything like that in a long time, and he was correct.  Simon Cowell told Eric that his audition was “absolutely atrocious.”

A total freakshow! An utter waste of time from beginning to end.

The producers must think people will tune out if they show a greater percentage of the good auditions instead of the whiny, desperate fools who haven’t got a prayer?

Sherman Pore was a total Winner!

He showed what life is really all about.

We don’t have to win American Idol to truly be an idol, as Mr. Pore exemplified!

Simon showed his Real Class, and Not his portrayed role that he plays on the show.

You knew Simons heart went out to Mr. Pore.

No matter how good someone performs, they will have a tough time beating the true spirit of the show last night.

Sherman Pore was the best Idol moment ever! He knew he wasn’t going to move or even be considered. All he wanted to do was sing a tribute to his recently deceased lady love and let the world know how he felt. If it was his way of dealing with his grief, he was 100% pure class. There have been great moments on this show, but that one was the best one ever.If anything Sherman, you are now “America’s ‘Senior’ Idol”!
