Carrie Underwood Wins Two Grammy Awards

February 11, 2007 11:22 PM by Joe Reality

Carrieunderwood_grammyAmerican Idol 4 winner Carrie Underwood continued her domination of
music award shows with the Grammy Awards.  To her collection of two ACM
awards, two CMA Awards, one American Music Award, and five Billboard
Music Awards
, Carrie Underwood can now add two Grammy Awards.

At the 49th Grammy Awards, Carrie Underwood won Grammy Awards for “Best Female Vocal Performance” and for “Best New Artist.”  Her hit song “Jesus Take The Wheel” also won for “Best Country Song,” but that Grammy Award went to the songwriters Brett James, Hillary Lindsey and Gordie Sampson.

After winning the “Best New Artist” award, Carrie Underwood paid homage to American Idol, “This is absolutely unbelievable.  Uh, there’s so much,I love country music first of all.  There’s so many people to thank.  I’m going to start at the top, thank you God, thank you mom and dad, thank you Simon Fuller who created the show American Idol that got me here.  I owe everything to Simon Fuller and 19.”

Carrie and Fuller should be thanking Kelly.

Carrie should thank Fuller because he told her what to sing, she sang it, and she won.

Did Carrie write any song? no. make any arrangements? no. have any input whatsoever? no….is she a music artist at all? no.

Kelly got crappy songs from Fuller, and told him no way!!!! And Kelly saved the whole American Idol franchise from itself in the process.

Kelly took a song Aguilera thought was not good enough, Kelly re-wrote the song, and made a 6wk #1 song from it.

Kelly’s 2nd album had no Fuller input, with Kelly writing most of the hits, and it was a world-wide smash…and won Kelly 2 grammys….and finally gave American Idol credibility it didn’t deserve. Then, 1-year later, good song-writers lined up to work with the latest American Idol product….who just happened to be Carrie.

Carrie and Fuller should be thanking Kelly.

Easy, sport! Carrie won two Grammy awards and thanked God, parents and American Idol. That’s it.

“Did Carrie write any song? no. make any arrangements? no. have any input whatsoever? no….is she a music artist at all? no.”

Actually, Carrie co-wrote two songs for her album and one made it on. In my book that qualifies for input. Check ASCAP’s website if you don’t believe me.
Last I checked singers who sing use their voice as an instrument like a guitarist uses their guitar (for example). By your logic, does that make a guitarist not a musical artist or is there some other definition you’ve omitted in your anaerobic rage.

    Try the decaf.

    (1) Anyone who would NITPIK an acceptance speech to the extent of WHO they forgot to mention in a moment of excitement is idiotic! She has thanked her fans relentlessly … and missed it once … Geeez.

    (2) Anyone who would say Carrie is not talented!! …. is worse off than the idiot described in #1.

Country artists are only considered true aka legitimate when they write all of their own music….she is very fortunate that Nashville has embraced her, as many of the legitimate artists have not (and shouldn’t….by traditional Nashville rules, she is not a true country artist). Hre performance was shaky at best (bit of a surprise, but then again when she is on the spot, eh, not so dynamic, eh Car-Bot?)

Christ has blessed Carrie because she has followed Him in her heart. Not only is she the biggest star in the world, she is now a Grammy Winner! Carrie is bigger than the Beatles! I have prayed and prayed for her success and it has come true, I am her biggest fan.

People against her are evil! They have Satan in their hearts! Carrie represents the Light and all that is Good- Judgment Day is coming and Carrie and I are on the right side- Go, Carrie! I love you!

“Country artists are only considered true aka legitimate when they write all of their own music..”

I’m afraid assertions like this needs examining. Are you implying that country performers like Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynette, Alan Jackson, George Strait, etc. are not legitimate country artists? If you check their discographies you will realize that, yes, they do write songs but they also sing other songwriters’ work (in some cases the majority of the time). Perhaps you meant something else?
