Nashville Star Results – Whitney Duncan Eliminated

February 16, 2007 02:14 AM by Joe Reality

Whitney_duncanTo kick off the Nashville Star final five results show, Cowboy Troy
performed “Buffalo Stampede.”  Before the contestants performed, the
Nashville Star judges talked about the incredible original songs from
last week.  First up was Whitney Duncan, who read mean message board
posts about herself in an intro segment.

Whitney Duncan sang “When A Man Loves A Woman.”  Anastasia Brown said “Whitney, I think that was your strongest vocal performance of the season.”  Blake Shelton said “You’ve got to find a way to work on your pitch, because I know you can do it.”  Randy Owen said “I think this song could take you to the next level.”

Zac Hacker sang “Stranger In My House.”  Blake Shelton said “I don’t think you hurt yourself this week any, but I was hoping to see you ramp it up a little bit more.”  Randy Owen said “You’ve got so much soul and so much heart, and I can feel, even though I’m concerned about the song selection, I feel what you’re doing.”  Anastasia Brown said “Last week you showed us some emotional depth, and this week you swam in shallow waters.”

David St. Romain sang “The One.”  Blake Shelton said “Sometimes bad songs happen to good people.”  Anastasia Brown said “I don’t know if these songs we’re hearing tonight are the songs that can win contests.”  Randy Owen said “David, I’m just disappointed.”

Joshua Stevens sang “If You’re Going Through Hell.”  Randy Owen said “I am extremely impressed with what you did tonight, son.”  Anastasia Brown said “I hate to break it to you, but tonight I felt like walking through the audience was a little bit awkward, but you came out and gave us a really strong ending.”  Blake Shelton said “When the hell did Nashville Star turn into the final scene of dirty dancing.”

Angela Hacker sang “If You’re Not In It For Love (I’m Outta Here).”  Anastasia Brown said “Is that song really deeper than Mary Had a Little Lamb?  And is that song really you?”  Blake Shelton said “For me that’s not the Angela that I feel like I’ve been getting to know for the past five episodes, and it makes me want to punch myself in the face as hard as I can.”  Randy Owen said “You are so incredible, but tonight with this song and not being what I feel like is you, you’ve opened the door for three or four others.”

After all five finalists had performed, Cowboy Troy revealed that Whitney Duncan had received the least amount of votes and was eliminated from the competition.  Whitney Duncan said “I’m just glad to have the experience and the opportunity, and I’m going to go camping with my boyfriend this weekend.”
