Diana Ross To Guest Star On American Idol

March 13, 2007 04:14 AM by Joe Reality

Idol6_top12This week, American Idol will celebrate the music of Diana Ross. After
being coached by Ross herself, the Top 12 finalists will perform songs
from the Diana Ross songbook Tuesday, March 13 (8:00-10:00 PM ET
live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX. The following night, Ross will perform
and one finalist will be eliminated from the competition on the live
results show Wednesday, March 14 (9:00-9:30 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed).

In a remarkable career spanning over 40 years, Ross has proven to be the consummate music artist, as well as one of the iconic female singers of all time. Beginning in the 1960s as lead singer of the world-renowned group The Supremes, and later as a solo performer, Ross achieved the unprecedented feat of 18 No. 1 singles in the U.S., rivaled only by The Beatles for the position of the biggest hit group of that generation. Other accomplishments include an Oscar nomination for her first film role, an extraordinary performance as Billie Holiday in "Lady Sings the Blues." She recently returned to the U.S. charts with her highest-debuting album in two decades, "I Love You."

Twenty-two-time Emmy-nominated AMERICAN IDOL is created and executive-produced by Simon Fuller, founder of 19 Entertainment; and executive-produced by Cecile Frot-Coutaz, CEO, FremantleMedia North America, Inc.; Nigel Lythgoe, President, 19 Television; and Ken Warwick, Executive Producer, FremantleMedia North America, Inc.

No big deal about Diana Ross. She is the cause of the death of Florence Ballard…pushing her aside to be the lead. Thank goodness, Jennifer Hudson won for playing her role. At least, the world now see and know who Florence Ballard is – the real Effie White. Instead of paying tribute to Diana Ross, AI should pay tribute to Florence Ballard or better known as Blondie. She’s a real genious…My hats off to Florence who now rest in peace in Heaven and happy knowing the Jennifer Hudson won an Oscar and Jennifer Holliday won a Tony – for playing her…Rest in peace…

Just for the record….DIANA ‘S voice is the one , the only one to be the “motown sound”….i loved all of the girls..mary, florence lacked what simon calls “originality”..her voice was different and berry’s investment in her paid off…flo had a great voice but sounded just like one of the marvelettes(no wonder she toured with that group at one time). jennifer holiday is my girl but effie white is just that effie white…she is definately NOT the story of flo , if it were so, flo would still be here….and with that…this is show business…leave diana alone as 40 years in the business…and she’s still here!!!!!

Miz Ross anyone? It’s pretty rad that American Idol can entice such big names in the music biz to come onto the show and lend their talents. Hopefully this will be an amazing performance by all of the contestants. I can’t wait to see it tonight! I also can’t wait to see who will win the title of American Idol in May! What would be better than watching Idol on tv? Try watching the finale live in Hollywood. Jus get your booties on over to http://www.jinglesforpringles.com/?market=1, and start uploading videos of yourself singing a song about Pringles, and you could win a trip to the Finale, and other prizes. The contest ends soon and the odds of winning are fantasitc right now. I got this killer info because I work with Pringles. CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HOOOOO!

Apparently, tonight wasn’t that good of a start for the Idol finalists….
…or rather, any Idol finalist that was not Melinda Doolittle, LaKisha Jones, or Jordin Sparks. Those three are my favorite females of the competition, and all three did, respectively, awesome, awesome, and very good.
The boys, meanwhile, didn’t fare so well. Chris R. and Sanjaya got less than stellar comments, and even Blake got some hesitancy from the judges (except Paula, of course).
Still, I don’t think anyone truly needs to worry except poor Haley. She is 99.9% likely to be the Melissa McGhee of this year.
