American Idol judge Simon Cowell will be appearing on tonight’s edition
of 60 Minutes which starts at 7 PM ET on CBS. Anderson Cooper will
be interviewing Cowell, and early clips from the segment have already
been distributed online.
On Yahoo, there is a clip where Simon Cowell tells Anderson Cooper that he’s actually helping people like a “very kind doctor” by telling American Idol contestants that they have absolutely no talent to their faces. Cowell also expresses how he’s being less cruel by being brutally honest than some of the contestants’ parents who allow their children to waste their time and energy by encouraging them to pursue something that they are simply not good at.
On the actual CBS News 60 Minutes site, there is a clip where upon hearing about a rumored $100 Million deal between Bruce Springsteen and Sony BMG, Simon Cowell explained his greater value to Sony BMG. As Cowell put it, “I sell more records than Bruce Springsteen, sure. I mean in the last five years, I’ve probably sold over 100 million records. So if he got a 100, I should have got 500.”
