The remaining eight couples on Dancing With The Stars danced either the
Samba or the Rumba. In the Samba, the judges looked for sizzling hip
movements, rhythmical forward walks, and Samba rolls. In the Rumba,
the judges looked for slow seductive movements, rope spins, and sensual
Ian Ziering & Cheryl Burke danced the Samba. Len Goodman said “Every week I see a competent performance, but nothing that really knocks my socks off.” Bruno Tonioli said “I think this week Ian you went for the hip action, a bit like a power tool sometimes, you were going at it like a mad man.” Carrie Ann Inaba said “I don’t’ believe you yet, but you could be, so I would like to see you get even better next week.” Ian & Cheryl received a score of 24 out of 30 points.
Clyde Drexler & Elena Grinenko danced the Rumba. Bruno Tonioli said “This was so polite, sanitized, it was like a Rumba under an anesthetic.” Carrie Ann Inaba said “You’re the worst dancer in the competition, and tonight was really bad.” Len Goodman said “I think you came out this time and really tried to show us a proper Rumba and for that I appreciate you.” Clyde & Elena received a score of 13 out of 30 points.
Heather Mills & Jonathan Roberts danced the Samba. At the end of the dance, Heather Mills slid and fell down. Carrie Ann Inaba said “The fact that you fell at the end just reminds me of how amazing it is that you’re in this competition, because you run that risk every time you get on the floor.” Len Goodman said “I think you came out and you really sold it, great hip work.” Bruno Tonioli said “You were in a disco diva mood tonight.” Heather & Jonathan received a score of 21 out of 30 points.
Joey Fatone & Kym Johnson danced the Rumba. Len Goodman said “Unfortunately for me tonight, the story of the Rumba is you’ve got to be a real masculine guy, and for me you were a little bit feminine on occasion.” Bruno Tonioli said “He’s got it totally wrong, that was absolutely strong and soft.” Carrie Ann Inaba said “A little feminine.” Joey & Kym received a score of 25 out of 30 points.
John Ratzenberger & Edyta Sliwinska danced the Samba. Bruno Tonlioli said “One of the best worst Sambas I’ve ever seen.” Carrie Ann Inaba said “That was good, we finally saw something different.” Len Goodman said “You came out and gave it the character of the dance, well done.” John & Edyta received a score of 18 out of 30 points.
Laila Ali & Maksim Chmerkovskiy danced the Rumba. Carrie Ann Inaba said “You tonight are the comeback kid.” Len Goodman said “Tonight was your best performance I have seen.” Bruno Tonioli said “That was luscious Laila but in smoldering form. I think I need a shower.” Laila & Maksim received a score of 28 out of 30 points.
Apollo Anton Ohno & Julianne Hough danced the Samba. Len Goodman said “Occasionally the music, the choreography, the performance all come together, and you get a great, great show.” Bruno Tonioli said “I think the nation has been stunned. This is incredible.” Carrie Ann Inaba said “Perfection, that’s it perfection, that was perfection.” Apollo Anton & Julianne received a score of 30 out of 30 points.
Billy Ray Cyrus & Karina Smirnoff danced the Rumba. Bruno Tonioli said “It didn’t happen for me tonight.” Carrie Ann Inaba said “I thought you gave an amazing effort and your focus as usual is really good, but this one just didn’t make it for me.” Len Goodman said “This was like a couple having a bit of hanky, panky in the back of a Chevy. It just lacked the sort of romance for me.” Billy Ray & Karina received a score of 17 out of 30 points.
Even though Apollo Anton & Julianne had the most perfect dance, this episode will be most remembered for Heather Mills taking a tumble. Based on the judges scores Clyde & Elena and Billy Ray & Karina could be in trouble. Our prediction is that Billy Ray’s fans will keep him in the competition, and Clyde & Elena will be the next couple going home.
