Browne & Robinson Families On Wife Swap

April 27, 2007 12:01 AM by Joe Blackmon

This week in "Browne/Robinson," a diva mom who raises her kids to be
primped and perfect divas-in-training swaps lives with a laid-back mom
whose family owns a scrap yard and can barely control her immature
husband and pack of unruly boys, on "Wife Swap," FRIDAY, APRIL 27
(9:01-10:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Each week from across the country, two families with very different values are chosen to take part in a two-week long challenge. The wives from these two families exchange husbands, children and lives (but not bedrooms) to discover just what it’s like to live another woman’s life. It’s a mind-blowing experiment that often ends up changing their lives forever.

Vegas mom D’eva Robinson (31) has always known that she was born to be a diva, and she even changed her name to fulfill her destiny. D’eva is a salon manager whose prized possessions are her wardrobe full of glamorous, over-the-top clothes and her shelf full of stylish wigs. D’eva demands that her whole family be every bit as fabulous as she is, so husband Dwayne (47) and children Taylore (12), Jourdyn (10), Eli (8) and Journi (5) must complete household chores and time-consuming beauty regimens to keep their house — and themselves — looking great. D’eva has even inspired Dwayne to go to cosmetology school so the family can open up hair salons all over Vegas.

D’eva travels to the Texas home of the Browne Family, where wife Christie (39), husband Trenton (39), and their sons, Jeremy (14), Joshua (12), Benjamin (11) and live-in nephew Charles (17) run a scrap yard and live in a messy house where the rambunctious boys rule the roost. Christie is a laid back computer teacher’s aide who believes that boys should be boys and kids should have the freedom to goof off and learn from their mistakes. Trenton acts more like a friend than a father to the boys, even letting the underage boys drive cars from the scrap yard around the family’s private property. Trenton and the boys treat the living room like a wrestling ring and eschew all chores, but mellow Christie doesn’t mind, even when the boys are out toilet papering the neighbor’s house.

In the first week of the swap, D’eva must put up with the wild antics and pranks of the Browne boys, and is shocked to find that the underage boys are allowed to drive. Meanwhile, tomboy Christie must transform herself into a diva with a glamorous dress and wig, and must enforce D’eva’s strict chore and beauty regimen on Dwayne and the Robinson kids.

In the second week of the swap, when the wives change the rules and turn the tables, D’eva takes the Browne boys to the laundromat to teach them to do chores, and the boys get into such an intense argument that the police are called. In Vegas, Christie takes the Robinson children to a scrap yard to learn how to change the oil of a car, and frees the kids from their chores and enforced primping so that they can look and act like kids.

At the end of the swap, when the couples are reunited, will D’eva drop the diva attitude and let her kids be kids? Will Christie scrap their scrap yard and clean up her family’s act?

"Wife Swap" is an RDF USA production. It was created by Stephen Lambert and is executive-produced by Stef Wagstaffe and Stephen Lambert of RDF Media ("Faking It" and "Junkyard Wars") and Michael Davies of Embassy Row ("Who Wants to be a Millionaire"). Mitchell Rosenbaum, Stephanie Schwam Adams and Mike Gamson are the co-executive producers.

The Texas family made me hate Texas. I was like are you serious. That dad thought he was such a bad azz cowboy lol. My Gaineville Friends would Gator his azz in 10 seconds or less (TEBOW like.) That family from Texas is so Fed, sure the fantasy family was odd but at least cool. That Texas dad just is hoping to make money off his kids, its sad. He has no care for them at all. Sad to say But Ill die when all his kids don’t make it in the rodeo and become Houston street drug addicts.

I just did not understand the mother from the Browne family. As ridiculous as D’eva might seem, her kids are going to grow up to be productive members of society. Her kids? Not so much. It’s not reasonable to refuse to let your kids have any responsibility. Fun is important, but it’s lot less important than teaching them responsibility. They’re going to reach adulthood and not be able to handle living without Mommy to take care of them. Most women today are not going to be willing to take care of a man while he sits around and does nothing and disrespects her.

I know the Browne family and that was soooo fake. Christie is strict as all hell. Josh had cancer, and this helped pay for all that, so hold your judgement.
