It seems as if Sanjaya Malakar just can’t get any respect. First, he
was voted off American Idol. Then, the National Enquirer dug up dirt on his
family. Next, his hometown city officials spoke out against
recognizing him. Now, Time Magazine has left Sanjaya off their official list of
the 100 most influential people in the world.
Yes, despite the fact that Time.com readers ranked Sanjaya Malakar as the third most influential person of the year in an online poll on their website, Time Magazine chose to overlook one of the most well-known American Idol finalists ever [on their official list]. How could the editors at Time ignore the lasting impact that the creation of the ponyhawk will have on our society?
Despite the snub of Sanjaya, American Idol was not completely shut out of the list. Simon Fuller, the creator of American Idol, made the list in the Artists & Entertainers category. Also, on a list called the Alt Time 100 that was selected by a panel that included a rapper, a Playboy bunny, a UFC fighter, a party planner and Joel Stein, Sanjaya Malakar’s hair was ranked number twenty.
