Dancing With The Stars – Billy Ray Cyrus Gets Angry

May 07, 2007 09:26 PM by Joe Blackmon

Billyray_angryWarning to the Dancing with the Stars judges.  Don’t make Billy Ray
angry.  You won’t like Billy Ray when he’s angry.  After Billy Ray
Cyrus danced the Fox Trot with his partner Karina Smirnoff, judge
Bruno Tonioli went on a tirade telling Billy Ray, “You always are
deliciously awful, and you know, I can appreciate that.”

However, Bruno didn’t stop there.  He continued “It was awful.  It was the Fox Trot on the temple of doom.  No, I mean come one, we’re going to the final, we’ve got to be honest here.  We are going towards the final of a very, very important competition, and I love him like anybody else, but this was terrible.  It was crap.”

After saying it was crap, Bruno seemed to realize he had gone too far and cupped his hand over his mouth and said “I’m sorry.”  When host Samantha Harris attempted to make small talk backstage, Billy Ray was obviously fuming from Bruno’s rudeness.  Billy Ray told Samantha, “You know I’ve held my tongue the whole time, but I’m going to go ahead and say it.  Bruno calling me crap is the pot calling the kettle black.”

After Billy Ray & Karina’s second dance, Billy Ray once again expressed his anger over Bruno’s earlier comments.  Billy Ray told Samantha, “It’s just hard to come back after that type of rudeness, and I’m sorry, it’s just so rude. It’s so rude.  We gave it everything we’ve got to get to this point, and we tried really hard and worked really hard and made it this far.  You would think somebody would have the courtesy to at least have a little better manners.”

Karina added “I just kept telling Billy Ray to listen to their comments and take it to the dance floor in practice, but it’s just really hard to work on crap, what do you do with crap.”  Then in the most exciting part, Billy Ray leaned forward and grabbed hold of Samantha Harris’ microphone and said “Well, Bruno called me a..”  A flustered Samantha tried to pull the microphone back as if she was scared of what Billy Ray might say.  Billy Ray continued “No wait, he called me a Southern gentleman, he needs to take a lesson on Southern gentleman.”

So did Bruno go too far in calling Billy Ray’s dance crap?  Or did Billy Ray overreact to Bruno’s comments?  Will the incident help or hurt Billy Ray in the voting?  Did Bruno have to get security to walk him to his car after the show?  Post your opinion in the comments section below.

It’s obvious that Billy Ray is not the best dancer left on the program but no one deserves to be called “crap” when they are doing thier best.

Bruno should make a public apology for his inappropriate comment or be replaced immediately.

Personally, I think Bruno suffers from “little man syndrome”

Okay, first things first. Bruno just used the wrong adjective to describe Billy Ray. Dense would’ve been better. Dumber than southern fried dirt. It’s an entertainment show first and foremost, and part of the entertainment is for these judges to say outrageous things. It’s part of the whole package. It’s the same as Simon on American Idol. All the other contestants are sharp enough to know that, but Billy is a few steps behind on the dance floor and in most things, so he always has this look of consternation and confusion. Simply put, he just doesn’t get that it’s a big goof at the end of the day. He takes it seriously.

The other bizarre moment was right after Billy finished his seond dance and made a mad dash over to Muhammad Ali and shadow boxed in the air at him like a crazy person. Then he ran back over again and kept looking over. Paying respect is one thing, throwing goofy air punches like a 5 year old hyped up on Kool Aid and Pop Rocks is quite another. Take it down a notch, achy breaky, you’re going to pop a vein in that thick forehed of yours.

With what happened tonight, hmmm, i think Billy Ray has taken all the comments seriously, which we can’t blame him, and the rest of the guys, for what are they into right now, is a tough job to do, practicing and performing things that are new to them, considering they are not trained bodies like thier pro partners. With regards to the Judges, well, they ‘re doing their job, maybe they just need to be a little cautious, if they see that the celebrity contestant is already a bit pissed off… as they say..”the show must go on” hope all will end well…

The judges have spent the last few weeks saying Billy spends more time practicing than anyother contestant, and he is the most improved, and is the most entertaining, etc. Then this? CRAP??? I understand he is not the best dancer out there, but seriously, calling someone or their dance crap, well that is just plain sh****y!! Maybe Bruno should get out their and show us his stuff, and let America judge him?!?! I think Bruno owes Billy and partner Carina a much owed Apology.

I love Billy Rae Cyrus. I didn’t know who he was before, but admire his elegance and good manners. He is a truly southern gentleman. He obviously is a man of gentleness and kindness and not used to doing sexy things. But he really got into it and his personality and good looks carried him. I am so sorry he was hurt by the judge, when he had tried so hard. When you try so hard to do something new it is terrible to be told you did “crap”. I also think it should be explained that the English judge is used to Standard dancing, very different than American and that is what causes the differences.

I am a southern person myself.Just as Kelly Pickler was picked on in AI, so is Billy Ray. I can say he isnt the best dancer and he even knows that ,but to be called CRAP??? It was wrong. People may not always be as bright as others but he has been a gentleman & tried his best alot more than Master P ever did!!! He was a big guy and the judges didnt talk to him and say the word CRAP!!! Billy Ray deserves an apology and so does his partner who has not given up on trying to teach him! I hope Bruno shows himself as being a gentleman like Billy Ray has done all along.Yes we look for the best dancer but isn’t everyone also looking at the ones who are not the greatest as a dancer TRYING to dance…he will not win, be HE DID give his all in trying to dance. Remember judges, you have the job because fans love to see the stars attempt something out of their element! Not to degrade and say CRAP but to give advice. Billy knew he couldn’t win this but he made the attempt to try something new.And just because he is on tv and has music out there, HE IS still the same Billy Ray Cyrus and he never let FAME go to his head, he is still himself and not one to think he is a big star…Even if he goes home, I say GOOD JOB BILLY RAY and always try to do things to your fullest ability and dont worry what some people think!!! You have a fan in your corner!!!!! Me!

Billy Ray is a terrible dancer, and it’s a mystery how he even made it this far! The whole concept behind Dancing & Idol is for the judges to critique, and Bruno was just being honest. I agree with the prior posting – Billy Ray just doesn’t get it. As Bruno said, this is getting down to the semi-finals, and it would be a mockery to have someone as bad as Billy Ray competing at that point in the competition. I think Billy Ray was a poor sport and his comments were inappropriate. Other contestants have received unfair criticism at times, but remain gracious throughout the process. Boo Billy Ray.

Billy Ray definitely deserves and apology. As to dancing, he is not the best but he has worked hard and tried. When he leaves he will do it graciously which is more than I can say for Bruno. This year the judges have gone too far,
They really favored Heather Mills and let her get away with a lot. Sure, she deserves credit but everyone has some problem.
At last I found a way to say something because the Starsa has not been as good this year.I love the show because it is pure entertainment so let’s not ruin it.
    Go Billy Ray!!!!!

I think Bruno went over the top with his rudeness as Len does also sometimes. I don’t know if they are doing it for ratings or because they think it’s funny but it’s just not. I think Bruno should apologize and the judges should have specific criteria they are allowed to use. I won’t be watching next year after this I find them to be degrading and mean at times. This is not entertaining

  14. Lincoln Says:

Despite his considerable good looks, I could never be called a Billy Ray Cyrus fan – until now. I think he has been very classy and charming, and is indeed a true southern gentleman, as Tourette’s poster boy Bruno called him. He and his partner have worked extremely hard, and he has won over the audience by his willingness to put himself out there among more naturally gifted dancers and by his self-deprecating grace. Bruno, on the other hand, disgraced himself and the show. He should be put under anesthesia for the rest of the competition. To call the hard work of Cyrus and his partner “crap” is outrageous. Such language is as crude as it is rude, and he – and ABC – should apologuze to both Cyrus and the audience. Frankly, I thought Cyrus’ comments afterwards were considerably restrained, compared to what I would have been tempted to say. The term “crap” should be reserved for Bruno Tonioli, who brought the ballroom floor down to the level of the street. He brought crudeness, ungraciousness, and lack of civility into my living room last night, and for that alone he should not be back as a judge next season.

Len and Bruno should be replaced as judges on this show. They should only judge “pro” competitions. Their rude comments and blatant favortisms are uncalled for in this type of competition. These are novices who know they are not pro dancers but are willing to do the show anyway.

Billy Ray may not be the best dancer in the world (which he has readily admitted since the beginning), but he does try; and every week he gives a valiant effort. He deserves an “A” for effort. He is a class act who is not afraid to laugh at himself and is a true “Southern Gentleman”.

As for his comments last night, I say right on – who among us would not have done the same thing?

Billy Ray is to be commended on his great efforts, enthusiasm, and persistence in learning these dances and motions that are a tad bit too much for this sturdy body. Bruno made a slip of the tongue definitely but it is more than just a slip of the tongue when it undermines the great efforts of Billy Ray. Also, didn’t I see his children in the audience. Bruno must compensate for his rudeness: perhaps he should compete in Dancing With the Stars and learn a few dances or moves that Billy Ray knows like line dancing and yes, even the ol “do se do” move, clogging, and any other country dance move.

  21. Jo Anne Says:
    May 8th, 2007 at 8:21 am

I think Billy Ray is a “true Southern gentleman”. Sure, he is not a great dancer, but the main thing is he is trying. He DID NOT
deserve that “rude” remark by Bruno and I think Bruno should apologize over national tv to Billy Ray. That remark was so cruel and I’m sure it hurt Billy Ray’s feelings. That would have been as bad as Billy Ray saying , “Oh you don’t know anything, ’cause you’re GAY.” But you see, Billy Ray has more manners than to say something like that!! The only reason I’m watching the show is to see Billy Ray, so once he’s gone, so am I !!

  22. rachel Says:
    May 8th, 2007 at 8:21 am

All these people saying Len and Bruno have to go: If you start giving us judges who just give “A” for effort, who are there to work on the stars’ “self-esteem,” then what’s the point of the competition? Do stars really need their “self-esteem” worked on anyway? This isn’t kindergarten, or group therapy. You can see that the word “crap” slipped out, and that Bruno regretted it. Who among us, to quote BJ, has not used a crass word in the wrong context? Bruno could hardly talk because the audience was screaming over him. As for Billy Ray acting like a gentleman last night and having a sense of humor about himself, really? He stomped out of the show before it was over. To me, that’s acting like a 5 yr. old. He’s used to adoring fans. Fine. But this is a dance competition, not a contest for most corny country singer. Also, what other star in the history of the program (besides Billy Ray) ever insisted on dancing to his own records? Yes, a very humble man. Give me a break.

  23. Mary Beth Says:
    May 8th, 2007 at 8:21 am

I’m very disappointed in Bruno. He should have had the good grace to apologize immediately after using the word “crap”. Entertainment is no excuse for rudeness or unkindness. This is ballroom dancing, not the WWF – where Bruno and his smack-talking mouth would fit in better…until someone busted him upside his pointy head. How anyone has the gaul to call Billy Ray dense or dumb I just don’t know- he’s been nothing but a gentleman and has given his all every week. I think it’s an example of ignorant prejudice against anyone with a southeren accent. Bruno could indeed use a lesson, as could at least one ignorant yankee who’s sounded off here. By the way, Genius, crap is not an adjective.

  24. marie Says:

Joanne, you’re crazy. Telling someone they dance badly, when they in fact do, is like telling someone that being gay means they don’t know anything? Sign up for a class in logic.

  25. kim Says:

Bruno did apologize, as soon as the word was out.

  26. John J. Hohn Says:
    May 8th, 2007 at 8:50 am

It it important to remember that Bruno did not call Billy Ray crap. He said, “It was crap.” He was talking about the performance not the man. Billy Ray was the first to take Bruno’s comments as a personal insult. I agree that Bruno’s comment was in poor taste and not in the least constructive, but Billy Ray and others need to look at what was actually said. The show needs to audition more carefully in the future. Stars with absolutely no appitude for dance should never be subjected to this kind of public embarassment. Bill Ray is not a dancer. Neither was Clyde.

  27. Sue Says:
    May 8th, 2007 at 8:51 am

Bruno’s comments went too far. Billy Ray has tried his best from the start of this show, and this week his hardest to practice.

  28. Walt Says:
    May 8th, 2007 at 8:53 am

Jo Anne, were you at the show last night? How do you know he stomped out? I know for a fact he went over to talk to M. Ali. So if you do not know the facts, keep your mouth shut!

  29. Stacy S Says:
    May 8th, 2007 at 8:57 am

Bruno should not of said what he said, but it is over and Billy Ray had every right to say what he said. Billy Ray was so upset by the comments, he had worked so hard on the dances this week and gave his all. And no he did not leave after the show was over, he did go and talk to Mohammad Ali. And yes Billy Ray is a very humble man, anyone who really knows him, knows this. Good Luck to you Billy Ray, your current fans and new fans will vote and continue to vote!

  30. Charma Says:
    May 8th, 2007 at 9:04 am

Billy Ray is a true southern gentleman and Bruno’s words must have hurt him deeply for him to respond the way he did last night. I think Billy Ray and Karina’s dances were much better than the judges’ scores reflected and they are still my favorite dancing couple. I am giving them all of my support and votes. With Billy Ray, what you see is what you get. He doesn’t put on any airs and that is why so many people can relate to him and love him. The judges really need to think before they give their remarks to each of the stars. They have said some very hurtful things in the past, like when Clyde was still on the show and I just don’t think they should be able to get away with that. No matter what happens tonight, Billy Ray Cyrus has brought excitement and fun to DWTS this season and I have love every minute of the show with him on it.

  31. Carol Says:
    May 8th, 2007 at 9:04 am

I think the judges have to realize from time to time these people are not professional dancers. Be funny, be sincere, critique how you may, but Bruno went a bit overboard. Obviously audience participation and dancer’s popularity play heavily into the voting. Votes should be reduced to 1 call per phone. I enjoy Bill Ray, but honestly there is no way he should have come this far competing with the likes of Apollo, Laila, Joey and Ian.

  32. Sue D Says:
    May 8th, 2007 at 9:10 am

Bruno owes Billy Ray and Karina and all those viewing the program an apology on tonight’s show. It was rude and uncalled for. The celebrities are NOT professional dancers and every one of them are giving their all to dance well and entertain us. The judges need to think before they speak for a change!

Len needs to be replaced altogether. There is nothing wrong with “razzle-dazzle” and dancing. It adds to the show. He costs the dancers points on some excellent dances. The footwork was there-no reason not to judge them on the dance accordingly.

    Time for new judges!!~!

Billy Ray, by his own admission, is not a dancer. He accepted the challenge and has been trying his best. When Clyde left, he tried to tell the judges that everyone is not a dancer but the contestants deserve respect from the judges because of the hard work and dedication that goes into the preparation for the performances. Bruno was rude to Billy Ray and has been borderline rude to Ian, Clyde and others. He needs to apologize to Billy Ray for calling his performance “crap”. That was way over the boundry of a professional comment. It doesn’t matter if Billy Ray is a good dancer or not, he did not deserve that comment from Bruno…nor does any other dancer….

  35. Lorri Beaudin Says:

Bruno’s a jerk. He had no business saying that, and I’m tired of his manic behavior. Billy Ray knows he doesn’t have a chance, but he still tries very hard every week and gives it everything he’s got. I’m proud of him!!!!

Billy Ray is a lot of things… not a dancer, but a good ol’ hillbilly superhero. Bruno has to critique the dances, and everyone expects his over-the-top descriptions of things. Crazy bear lost in a swamp? Classic. He also fantasized about batteries in mario Lopez’s pants, if U recall. Billy Ray did the Southern gentleman thing. He let it go, but not lying down. Y’all didn’t want to see him do it the hillbilly way out under the neon moon in the parkin’ lot, Bubba! I’m sure BRC was thinking “shame me, OK, shame me on TV, OK, but not in front of my daughter.”

Even if you go home, Billy Ray, you made all us regular guys proud again!

    Keep it real.

Billy Ray’s face went cold after Bruno called his dancing “deliciously awful”, which was clearly a playful compliment in the same vein as every other Billy had received during the season, although neither Billy nor the audience seemed to care for it.

Haven’t we heard the word “rubbish” dropped all season for a variety of dances? How is that more polite?

I think it is unfortunate that Billy Ray took the judging so personally, but it was never an attack on him as a person. Billy Ray’s reaction was a personal attack on Bruno. They should both apologize.

    — Pickler was one of oh, about 18 winners/finalists of A.I. from the South, so, these shows pick on southerners? Wha..?
Yeah, Bruno was out of line, Len is usually an out-of-touch ass (Apolo’s Jessie’s Girl tango threatened to be a little fast, but ended up great), but Billy Ray, if a show-biz pro (and he is), should really have showed more grace and restraint — take the high road and make Bruno look bad by being cool. But he was too hot-headed. Sure, he gave his all, and tried, and didnt deserve the harshness. But the judgement and comments the judges make have nothing to do with his “southernness”. Really, he should have said to Bruno– “Well, Im still standing.” (Bruno was one of the not-so-manly dancers in Elton John’s video for said song “Im Still Standing”– check it).Viewers are supposed to ultimately vote for the best dancer — so if your “crush” gets voted off you won’t watch anymore? That’s really mature. So, I’ve always loved Paulina. She got voted off even though she’s a little better dancer than BRC, and I’m supposed to stop watching? Bruno was out of line, but BRC didnt have to stoop to same level. I guess it’s kinda cute he cared so much about his effort, but cooler heads always prevail, and he could have emerged smellin like a rose over Bruno. A little brutish to grab the mic from Sam like that, dont ya think?

I saw a Billy Ray concert in Frankfort a few years ago. He put on a great show and stayed AFTER the show to sign autographs, talk, have pictures made etc. I go to a lot of concerts and I have never seen a star be so gracious! He may not be a professional dancer, but Bruno’s comment was insulting to Billy Ray and his dance partner. I admire the guy’s effort!

Judging is meant to be entertaining and accurate and sometimes brutal…but to give a a critque and call someones honest hard work “crap” is disgraceful. I am ashamed for Dancing with the Stars. Even Simon Cowells harsh critism has never stooped to that level. Billy Ray.. you did a admirable job and I don’t blame you for feeling the sting of that disgusting comment. BRUNO APOLOGISE OR LEAVE DANCING WITH THE STARS!!!!!!!

Bruno was absolutely right in telling Billy Ray like it is: Billy Ray can’t dance; his so-called dancing is absolute “crap”! Good for you, Bruno! We’re tired of the audience voting based on popularity rather than dancing skills. Billy Ray should have keft a long time ago, and Bruno owes noone an apology! Ludicrous! As ludicrous as keeping Billy Ray in this “game”!

I think we all know this would be Billy Ray’s Last dance. He just isnt on the same level as the other four competitors, but he in noway deserved the treatment he received. Billy Ray brought fun, and “delicious” entertainment to the show and I adored him. I do feel that Bruno just accidently went too far and Billy Ray let it go straight to his big ol’ heart..

I love Billy Ray Cyrus..always have and always will….is he THE best dancer here? No. He is working his butt off? Yes!
He is an entertainer just doing a gig….he does take it serious and he is trying….but for Bruno and Len to go after him like they have….these entertainers are just doing this show for I am sure their own personal reasons…maybe to challenge themselves to go out of their elements….some take it way too serious and others are just the best…I think Billy Ray had every right to vent…..will he win? Most likely not, but all my votes will go for him, as they have been…but kudos for him stepping out of his comfort zone and subjecting himself to the butt of many jokes! YOU ROCK, BILLY RAY and you truly are, a Southern Gentleman….
The judges take their jobs way too serious, in my opinion, but I do love the show..

I too saw a BRC concert about 10 years ago and after the show, he did not sign anything, but instead stood at the front of the stage with his arms raised in victory for about 30 minutes evan as the roadies were taking the stage down. I guess he was showing everyone that stayed how great he was. Like the “Nappy Headed Hos” that are scarred for life, get over it Billy Ray!

Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth. Since Bruno said BR’s dance was crap, it’s only fair for BR to insult Bruno back.

Bruno was trying to defend his opinion and in his excitement used a word he probably uses in his daily life. You could tell by his face that he was shocked that he had said it too. Billy Ray and Karina were understandably hurt by such a crude comment. This is not constructive criticism, but does not equal the sum of all there dancing. Many of their dances were wonderful. Billy Ray is a good dancer, and has improved through all the practice and effort. He should not let one bad comment knock him off his horse. If he wants to get back then use the momentum to become an even better dancer. Look at all he’s already done in such a short time.

I think he did the best he could. Some got it….some don’t. He made a great effort tho, and he’s very likable. I felt sorry for him under the circumstances, and gave him all 5 of my votes online. I feel that sometimes the judges are too critical, but that’s their job. Just like Simon on A.I. he says what he thinks, because he knows talent and music. I just wish Bruno would have found better words to use.

I can’t believe all the people who are defending Billy Ray. I thought his comments were rude and not in keeping with the underlying concept of all reality competitions – the judging. I saw no signs of a southern gentleman. In fact, I think the judges have been too generous about his efforts — all contestants try, but shouldn’t remain on the basis of effort – it’s about results, and Billy Rays’s were sadly lacking. And what about his ridiculous shadow boxing in Muhammad Ali’s face? The only thing that made me uncomfortable during the show was Billy Ray himself!

I can’t believe people are so angry that they are ingnoring that Bruno did apologize…IMMEDIATELY. Obviously crap was not the word he had intended to say out loud. I do not blame him for thinking the performance was crap, because it WAS. Yes BRC probably is doing the best he can but so is everybody else and they don’t throw tantrums when the get criticised. Ian poor thing has had his teeth kicked in day after day despite being a WAY better dancer than BRC. I think BRC showed poor sportsmanship and was a horrid example to his daughter. I expect her to think everybody has to kiss your ass if you are on tv from here on out. BR totally over reacted.

Bruno, do you know how many young children watch that show? Billy Ray had his kids in the audience.

Sooz, if you think kids of any age from infant on up have not heard words worse than “crap” then you are in la-la land. How can anyone shelter words from kids? Keep them locked in a closet? Wait, they will hear it on a TV on almost any channel on almost any show.

BRC has been a has been for almost 30 years, thought with his 1 hit he could tell Nashville what to do and they all but blackballed him. He was a 1 hit wonder and that stunk after hearing it 100 times a day. Southern gentleman my backside, he was on the show promoting, hoping for a free ride again. Can’t stomach the cocky sucker. Messing with Ali when he was there to see his daughter dance shows how crude and rude HE is. No class!

I agree that it was Billy Ray’s time to go, but the comments made last night (and many other times too) are rude. I’m so glad Billy Ray said something. This is getting embarrasing. These judges are holding these celebrities to “professional standards” for judging. It would be nice to see the judges actually acting “professional”. They need to remember that without the stars there would be NO SHOW. And they would go back to being nobodies. The stars ARE the show. If they get sick of how they’re treated, they may decide not to participate, and then we lose a good show, and the judges are out of a job. I hope more stars stand up to the judges like BRC. They need to remind them who they owe their paychecks to. The stars arent getting anything out of this. It’s not AI, no million dollar prize. They are giving up their time and working HARD to entertain us and put on a good show. The judges better start kissing some booty or next year, instead of B-level stars, there gunna be begging for reality tv castoffs. The stars ARE the show. Give them some respect.

Billy Ray is a goofy redneck and not a southern gentleman. Obviously, you people wouldn’t know a gentleman (whichever hemisphere he’s from) if he walked up and asked you to dance. Gentlemen do not talk about about “achy breaky butts” nor do they call anyone out on national television. Billy Ray (lacking in any talent) has always tried to make up for this by doting on his adoring female fandom. He can’t sing and he can’t act. Now her can add…he can’t dance.

Deedee, and all you others who are putting Billy Ray Cyrus on some pedastal as though he was crucified by Bruno are just being ridiculous. Billy Ray is an okay guy, but he didn’t have the sense and class to just say one thing with a bit of a smile and be done with it. He pouted like it was all some grave and serious issue. It’s fricking “Dancing With The Stars” not “Billy Ray: My Story, My Journey, My Life.” Although, that’s not a bad TV movie idea, I’ll get to work on that. Bruno’s whole shtick is to be outrageous and over the top with compliments when they’re dancing great and snappy criticisms when they suck. It’s part of the gig, and has been from day one. He immediately corrected his error in the moment, having gotten caught up in the loudness of the crowd and the energy. This whole b.s. “southern gentleman” crap (yes, I used that word) is so annoying. You don’t see Ian Ziering going on about being a “western gentleman” because he’s from LA. Is there a “northern gentleman” out there too? Can I get mad props for the “eastern gentlemen” in the house? How about a “mid-Atlantic gentlemen.” George Bush was a “southern gentleman” too, and look where that’s gotten us.

    Crap? Totally!
The guy refers to himself as a southern gentleman? How many southern gentlemen are grabbing their own ass during a dance, or doing that forward hip thrust thing that he kept on doing -show after show.. – that besides his other sexual innuendos. We had my neice over watching tv as my wife was trying to teach her the beauty of dance and well we were just embarassed by Billy Ray’s actions.
Don’t forget, these were the kind of actions that society buried Michael Jackson about! How these actions were overlooked is beyond me?

I used to like Billy Ray (Hanna Montana), but he did himself a disservice by coming on this show…

Brono did not call Billy Ray crap, lets understand this, he said what he was doing was crap and rightly so, we are approaching the finals and I am sorry but only the best should make it there. So let us leave out the personal emotions and deal with the right thing. Remember this is a show that is watch by other persons who are not interested in just having laughters, but want to learn something from it.

Hey there. I’m from Australia and some of your countrymen/women blundered into our DWTS forum by accident and started yelling about how rude Bruno was for using the “C” word and being mean to poor Billy Ray.

We all thought they meant – you know – the “C” word and laughed ourselves stupid when we realised all Bruno had said was “crap”. I watched the dance and Bruno’s comments and also BRC doing the mambo.

Sorry, I don’t know BRC, but what I saw was a childish tantrum from a grown man just because someone told him the truth about his god-awful dancing.

I thought BRC was rude to the woman who tried to interview him backstage (ignored her questions to keep ranting at Bruno) and to his partner (left her stranded on the dance floor with her arm held out to him while he rushed off to gush all over Mohammed Ali).

I don’t know what your definition of a gentleman is – but that behaviour from Billy Ray Sookus didnt qualify to me. Bruno, on the other hand, just told the truth and then apologised when he thought he’d gone too far for American sensibilities. If you guys saw what the judge’s say in Australia you’d have conniptions! LOL

Personally I reckon BRC should apologise to Bruno and to the two women. He behaved like a precious childish bully.

But I’m relieved to see many posts here showing a lot of sense about it all. At least I know the folks who invaded our forum are not representative of Americans overall. :)

    Cheers

I have never been a fan of DWTS. Then Billy Ray entered the scene. I don’t know thing one about ballroom dancing, but, I recognize a true southern gentleman when I see one. It took a lot of guts to do what he did, especially considering who the judges were, maybe he was out of his league. HE GAVE IT HIS ALL, that is what is important.
Calling it “crap” was rude, discourteous and he had every right to be angry. Blow a fuse? I guess so!! What happened to him is the reason a lot of people don’t have the courage to go out and expose themselves in competitions like this, I sure wouldn’t.
Yes, it is entertainment, maybe the judges can get away with saying anything they want. If so, what does that say about us? Do we watch the show to see somebody get cut down by some stuffed shirt? Simon and his like are in positions to humiliate and we watch this as entertainment?
NOT SO, ME!!! I love it that people brave this and do what they love to do, or try to do something they have never done. TO ME, THAT IS ENTERTAINMENT!!!
