Did Randy Jackson Predict Or Help Create The American Idol Winner?

May 24, 2007 03:48 PM by Joe Blackmon

Randy_jacksonUsually, it’s Simon Cowell that is known for his uncanny ability to
predict the winner of American Idol, but American Idol 6 proved to be
the year of the dawg.  Randy Jackson deserves credit for apparently
calling this season of American Idol before it even began.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Randy Jackson predicted the winner would be “someone with curly hair.”  Of course, Randy Jackson proved to be correct as Jordin Sparks has curly hair.

One other interesting point that many are making on various American Idol message boards is that Randy Jackson seemed to strongly favor Jordin Sparks throughout the competition.  Every week, it seemed like Randy Jackson reminded viewers that Jordin Sparks was a great singer and that she was only seventeen years old.

After Jordin Sparks sang “You Will Never Walk Alone,” Randy Jackson said “I think that’s one of the best vocals by any contestant ever on this show, ever in six seasons, and it’s from someone that’s seventeen years old.”  After Jordin Sparks sang “This Is My Now” on the final performance show, Randy Jackson said “You were the best singer tonight.  You deserve it all, baby.”

If someone visits the web archive of JordinSparks.com, they will also find a picture of Jordin Sparks posed with Randy Jackson backstage at American Idol in 2004.  Did Randy Jackson forge a secret alliance three years ago with Jordin Sparks to help her win American Idol 6?  Not likely, unless Simon Cowell was in on it, because he also appears posed in a picture with Jordin Sparks.

So did Randy Jackson just get lucky in his prediction?  Or did he help make his prediction come true by his praise of Jordin Sparks throughout the competition?  One could certainly craft a good conspiracy theory from the three year old pictures of Randy Jackson and Jordin Sparks together, but we think Simon Cowell proved last year that the judges don’t have that much power in deciding who wins.  Their praise or criticism can certainly influence the vote to some degree, but ultimately America picks who they want to pick.  We’re going to give Randy Jackson the benefit of the doubt and say he just proved to be a really good judge of talent this year.  Good job, dawg!

If you watch Jordin’s audition video, she introduced herself and was telling the judges that her father had been a football player. It didn’t appear that any of them knew her. Simon also was not excited about her audition.

Oh c’mon, the judges knew that her father is a famous football player. She has met the judges before at events and there are pictures to prove this. Why is it that they never mentioned the fact that her dad is famous? Like I said before, I believe this show was fixed for her to at least make it to the top 3. Her family has most people in the industry on THEIR side and that’s why she got so many votes. I think that was an unfair advantage.

It doesn’t matter anymore, the winner was announced and all we can do is still support our favorites!

Jordin isn’t talented. She can’t even sing a Bon Jovi song. Kelly Clarkson, Blake Lewis and Carrie Underwood are the only real talent this show ever produced.

Yes, isn’t it funny about the ’04 pictures of Jordin, Simon and Randy? And, isn’t it funny how Melinda got voted off so there woldn’t be the big talented voice up against Jordin in the final? THEN, isn’t it also funny how the song selected for the final performance was a balad made for Jordin and the worst possible song for Blake to perform? But, won’t it be funny if Blake ends up being a bigger star than Jordin anyway?

I think Blake and Melinda will make it far because people are beginning to realize how everyone in the show was pretty much with Jordin. Just because she won, doesn’t mean she will become a legend. She can be forgotten tomorrow if people wanted to.

I found it odd how she wasn’t surprised when they announced that she was the winner. I don’t want to think that the show was rigged, but there is obviously something fishy going on there.

Watch who does the best out of this season’s top three. My bets are on Melinda and Blake. They don’t need family influence or the way paved for them. Jordin has talent, but she doesn’t have the wow factor Melinda and Blake have.

Melinda will do well. I laugh at the thought that some think Blake will do well. It isn’t going to happen. Jordin can sing, Blake does not hold a candle that is even remotley close to Jordin, Melinda’s or Lakisha’s talent.

    Dream on people.

Melinda will most likely become a true legend. Blake is more of an entertainer and he is pretty original. Jordin has a good voice, but we’ve seen a lot of girls like her already.

May Jordin Sparks receive the same treatment from AI, it’s affiliates and its ‘powers that be’, as Taylor Hicks received for the year after he won. :0

Ok Folks …it’s over; Jordin won – congratulations! Thing is …did anyone watch the finale? In 2 and a half minutes, Melinda (along with BeBe and CeCe Winans)made a subtle but huge statement without SAYING a word; She sang her butt off! The interaction and harmonies between the three of them was chill inducing! Melinda showed that a true talent doesn’t need “crying gimmicks”, age reminders, or nepotism – she will be around a LONG time. I agree, for once, with Simon and Co. – NO More background singer there! I eagerly await Melinda’s album ..and still congratulate young Ms. Sparks on her victory.

I have no doubt that Jordin was a set up from day one. No one else stood a chance of winning. There are too many arrows pointing that way to ignore. AI plays it well and people fall for it.

I don’t think Randy helped Jordin much this year, except by praising her of course. After all, Simon praised Melinda to the skies and she finished third! Jordin just appealed to the teens more than Melinda did. And in terms of pure vocal ability, I’d say Jordin’s up there with Melinda and LaKisha, even if I’m a huge Melinda fan. So Randy probably just saw really good talent.

^^^ Ever thought they used that as a distaction so that we wouldn’t know what was going on between the judges and Jordin? I agree, she was meant to win even before she auditioned. She knew the judges way before this season started. Open your eyes people.

I think that when Randy was referring to “someone with curly hair,” he was talking about Chris Sligh. All of the judges’ comments before the show began pointed to Chris S. as their favorite.

  19. Anonymous Says:

I think Jordin was their favorite, and they knew they were pictures of her with the judges before this season started. I think they didn’t want to grab too much attention to Jordin until she made it far enough.

At this point, I don’t really care about who wins. I only care about my favorites making it far and I’m going to keep supporting them. That’s the only way to top Jordin and give her a taste of reality.

i can’t understand why there are so many pathetic posters here. and the more i don’t understand why some, up to know, would dare to say that Jordin couldn’t sing…. oh come on! she proved her worth.

the fix was in, Jordin was a plant and their chosen winner before the auditions. Her family is personal friends with Randy Jackson and the producers.
All the evidence is there to corraborate that theory if you choose to look into it. I hope American Idol finally gets busted for their corruption and false claim that America chooses the winner.

You know, I don’t care if it’s rigged or whatever. It makes me wonder, why no one has said anything about it, though. Just like with Antonella’s pictures and how she made it THAT far having disrespected a National monument, why is it that not any single website has even pointed out the fact that Jordin knew the judges and who knows who else, before she even auditioned? And what makes me mad is the fact that a girl like that, who can really sing and who could’ve gotten far without having her daddy buy her the ticket to the top 2, agreed to that. Do teenagers really would do ANYTHING to be famous?

  25. Jaquie Says:

Have you heard what Blake said about the songwriter song choice? They pretty much picked a song they knew Jordin will be able to sing. Poor Blake, but I know he’ll get far no matter what. If the votes were rigged for Jordin, then she will not do better than any contestant.

Jordin sucks! Blake should have won. Who needs another boring ballad singer. They are a dime a dozen.

I think most people agree Jordan Sucks and should not be the winner. Melinda or Blake should have won. But that is ok because Jordan will be a loser in the fact that most people will not support her because she is a cheater. While Melinda and Blake Cds go to multi platinum success. Jordan will become a memory except at the beginning of the american idol show where they show her as a winner. Jordan= L O S E R

I doubt very much Randy was talking about that no-talent fat ass pig Chris Sligh, who America booted out at number ten because they could not stand listening to his terrible singing anymore. Randy was a producer, he knows horrible singing when he hears it and no one was worse than Chris Sligh this year. He was one of the main reasons ratings went down because viewers could not stomach him standing on the same stage that Carrie Underwood once stood. He is a failure and flop and a loser and the sooner he fades into obscurity where he belongs, the better!!!!!!!!!!!

wow this is old news, how did i run into this??

okay i just wanna say that *many* contestants that have set foot on the idol have known the jusdges way before they audtioned (Kat Mcphee, Latoya London, etc.)

& they are a lot of other contestants that have had famous family members…some that were even meantioned on the show in past seasons.

I must say its a great marketing plan. now say if jordan dad wanted his baby girl to become a singer and we know he has the money to get her a cd made but that doesn’t mean she will become big and popular.now if he pays for her to win on a popular tv show she also will becomes popular as well and her cd has a better chance to sell big. I take nothing from jordan because she can sing but was she the best singer? NOOOOO.but for some reason the judges knew she was going to do well if you go to youtube and watch her audition Randy perdicted that she would go far and Simon quoted you will go far. now if I am a judge I can perdict that someone will go far also, but my question is how can you just perdict that she will go far when over 150 other good singers goes to hollywood too. things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm……$$$$$$$$$$
