Silver & Pitney Families On Wife Swap

May 28, 2007 12:11 AM by Joe Blackmon

This week on "Silver/Pitney," a self-professed psychic who is treated
like a princess by her "Mister Mom" husband and home-schooled sons
swaps with an indulgent country wife who lives to serve her unruly sons
and gambling-addict husband, on "Wife Swap," MONDAY, MAY 28 (8:00-9:00
p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Each week from across the country, two families with very different values are chosen to take part in a two-week long challenge. The wives from these two families exchange husbands, children and lives (but not bedrooms) to discover just what it’s like to live another woman’s life. It’s a mind-blowing experiment that often ends up changing their lives forever.

When Florida native and self-professed psychic medium Sheree Silver (48) married husband Sam (42), they opened a "spiritual center" together where she sells mystical trinkets and performs psychic readings. Sam is so in awe of his wife that he waits on her hand and foot — cooking, cleaning and even blow drying her hair. Sheree is raising her sons, Andrew (13) and Justin (10), to be in touch with their feminine sides as well; the boys dance and play musical instruments, and they don’t play sports. Sheree feels that her sons are too sensitive for public school and opts to home school them instead. As a result, the boys’ only interaction with other kids their age is only at tap and ballet lessons, where they’re also the only boys in the class.

Sheree travels to Kentucky to the rambunctious residence of the Pitney family, where mom Ashley (29) has her hands full with her out of control sons, Brandon (8) and Tyler (5), and gambling-addict husband, Alan (33). Ashley doesn’t believe in disciplining the kids and is happy to let them roughhouse all day long, eat piles of junk food and even sleep with her and Alan in their bed at night. She is equally indulgent with husband Alan, letting him spend all his free time gambling the family’s money away instead of helping her control the boys.

In the first week of the swap, a skeptical Ashley must work as a psychic medium, home school Andrew and Justin and put up with being pampered by new husband Sam, all of which signals to her that the Silver family needs less hocus-pocus and more masculine energy in their lives. Meanwhile, strong-willed Sheree struggles to put up with the Pitney boys’ wild antics and confronts Alan about his irresponsible gambling habit. Sheree soon concludes that the universe sent her to heal the Pitneys’ chaotic household.

In the second week of the swap, when the wives change the rules and turn the tables, Ashley sets about toughening up the Silvers. She arranges for Andrew and Justin to hang out with other kids their age, and teaches Sam to stand up for himself by having him boss her around with a microphone. In Kentucky, Sheree drags Brandon and Tyler to dance and music lessons to develop their creative side, and hypnotizes a resistant Alan to help him stop gambling and start helping around the house.

At the end of the swap, when the families are reunited, will Sheree loosen the reins on her whipped husband and let her boys be boys? Will Ashley will get her sons under control and make Alan kick his gambling habit?

"Wife Swap" is an RDF USA production. It was created by Stephen Lambert and is executive-produced by Stef Wagstaffe and Stephen Lambert of RDF Media ("Faking It" and "Junkyard Wars") and Michael Davies of Embassy Row ("Who Wants to be a Millionaire"). Ashley Pitney is a homophobic bitch…the other family might be a little looney in some of their beliefs…but they at least give their children the freedom to do what they like…Ashley Pitney believes any boy or man who doesnt play sports or drink beer and act a fool is a sissy..she could use a good slapping.

FYI–We don’t drink beer and i don’t think you have to be a real man to do so..but when you keep your BOYS hidden in the house all day with no friends and tell them that you see in their future from a dream that they’ll be famous one day from singing/dancing then that is FORCED on them not their choice!! My son chooses to play baseball–what they don’t show on TV is that my youngest son doesn’t play sports he likes to draw and read, and I don’t think this makes him any less of a male!! Pink polka dotted costumes, and little cowboy hats with shirts and frills do that!! Don’t make a personal threat to me…that I need a slapping if you think you are MAN enough bring it on!!

Alan has anger issues. I can’t believe he feels like it is okay to talk to women like that. He is obviously sexist and his wife is a homophobic country monster. I hope she is just acting like that for TV. They have very ancient close minded ideas on what “male” is.

Silver’s family seem strange, and the oldest son really does need to get some life experience, but at least you can tell that both the mother and father care about the family.
