America’s Got Talent Delivers Big Ratings To NBC

June 06, 2007 07:37 PM by Joe Blackmon

Last night, the second-season premiere of "America’s Got Talent" was
the top-rated show on television in adults 18-49, total viewers and
every other key measure, delivering the highest numbers for any
summer-series debut so far this year, according to preliminary "fast
affiliate-based" "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen
Media Research. Paced by "America’s Got Talent," NBC won Tuesday night
in adults 18-49, total viewers and all key measures.

From 9-11 p.m. ET, "America’s Got Talent" (4.3 rating, 12 share in adults 18-49, 12.9 million viewers overall) scored the highest results for any summer series premiere so far this year, topping the 18-49 and overall viewer totals of such rival series as "So You Think You Can Dance," "Hell’s Kitchen," "Pirate Master," "Ex-Wives Club" and "Next Best Thing," among others.

"America’s Got Talent" dominated the competition by all key measures and scored NBC’s highest 18-49 rating in this time period since January 2 and highest overall viewership in the slot since January 9. "Talent" paced NBC to a Tuesday night win in adults 18-49, total viewers and all other key measures, marking the network’s first Tuesday victory in 18-49 or total viewers since January 2.

Among total viewers, this was the highest scoring edition of "America’s Got Talent" ever. In adults 18-49, this was the second-highest result ever for "Talent," behind only last summer’s debut (a 4.6 rating in 18-49 and 12.4 million viewers overall on Wednesday, June 21, 2006).
