To kick off the Las Vegas round of the auditions, Nigel Lythgoe told

contestants were placed in groups of ten to perform in front of the
judges. The judges then either cut the contestants, moved them forward to the next round, or had them come back to dance for their lives. Even though the judges cut the first several contestants, some contestants did eventually start to make it through.
For the second day in Vegas, the remaining dancers took a contemporary choreography class with Mia Michaels, and then performed in groups in front of the judges. Several more performers were cut, and one of the most heartbreaking cuts was Jamal Weaver, who gave the judges laughing fits with his swing dance during the first round of auditions.
At the end of day two, the remaining dancers were divided into fifteen groups and told to pick a CD from a box. The groups each had one night to choreograph a routine based on the CD they picked. The judges then either cut the contestants, had them dance for their lives, or put them through to the final round. After all the cuts, only fifty dancers remained. Tomorrow night, the remaining fifty dancers will perform solo routines and will be cut down to the final twenty.
