So You Think You Can Dance Top Eighteen Performance Show

June 20, 2007 09:17 PM by Joe Blackmon

Sytcd18_anya_dannyTo kick off the performance show for the top eighteen So You Think You
Can Dance contestants, host Cat Deeley introduced the three judges: Mia
Michaels, Mary Murphy, and Nigel Lythgoe.  The first pair of Lauren Gottlieb and Neil Haskell danced to “The Way I
Are” by Timbaland featuring Keri Hilson & D.O.E.  Mia Michaels said
“It was a hell of a lot better than last week for me.”  Mary Murphy
said “This week there is a chemistry that is starting to happen between
this partnership.”  Nigel Lythgoe said “I think what you’ve done is set
the bar tonight for everybody else who is going to be working out of
their style.”

The second pair of Jessi Peralta and Pasha Kovalev danced to Stiff Jazz by dZihan and Kamien.  Mia Michaels said “You guys danced amazing.”  Mary Murphy said “I thought it was terrific.”  Nigel Lythgoe said “Jessi, you’ve got this, I keep saying, this quality that you have with your dancing that so far has fitted everything that you’ve had to do.”

The third pair of Jaimie Goodwin and Hok Konishi danced to “Bang Bang To The Rock ‘n’ Roll” by Gabin.  Mia Michaels said “I’m loving the fact that you guys are doing Samba.”  Mary Murphy said “There were some good bits in there alright, but it still doesn’t cut the mustard in this competition.”  Nigel Lythgoe said “I thought they did a great performance, but I wholeheartedly agree with Mary obviously.”

The fourth pair of Sabra Johnson and Dominic Sandoval danced to “I’ll Stand By You” by The Pretenders.  Mia Michaels told Dominic, “You are truly what this competition is about.”  Mary Murphy said “It really was great.” Nigel Lythgoe said to Dominic, “This is great for me to see, somebody that’s actually put themselves out and delivered.”

The fifth pair of Faina Savich and Cedric Gardner danced the Fox Trot to “You’re The Boss” by Elvis Presley & Ann-Margret.  Mia Michaels said “It kind of felt like Ginger Rogers and an insecure Michael Jackson.”  Mary Murphy told Cedric, “I did not feel that you were wonderful in this style.”  Nigel Lythgoe said “Tonight, I think you’ll probably find yourself in the bottom three again.”

The sixth pair of Lacey Schwimmer and Kameron Bink danced Broadway to “Overture / And All That Jazz” from the Chicago soundtrack.  Mia Michaels said “I think you guys are the sexiest couple.”  Mary Murphy said “I think danger is your middle names now.”  Nigel Lythgoe said “You look like you’ve been dancing together for years.”

The seventh pair of Anya Garnis and Danny Tidwell danced the Waltz to “You And Me” by Lifehouse.  Mia Michaels said “You guys bring such a professionalism and maturity to this stage.”  Mary Murphy said “Today, you guys just stepped out of a dream.”  Nigel Lythgoe said “It’s the routine of the night so far.”

The eighth pair of Shauna Noland and Jimmy Arguello danced Hip-Hop to “U Sexy Girl” by Fat Man Scoop featuring Elephant Man & Jabba.  Mia Michaels told Shauna, “There’s still a little bit of dancing school syndrome to you.”  Mary Murphy said “I think you guys both stepped it up this week.”  Nigel Lythgoe said “I’m going to use the F word.  That was so much fun.”

The ninth pair of Sara Von Gillern and JesÃs Solorio danced the Paso-Doble to “We Will Rock You” by Queen.  Mia Michaels said “It was a little awkward for me honestly.”  Mary Murphy told JesÃs, “You’ve got that passion that we love seeing in the Paso-Doble.”  Nigel Lythgoe said “It’s the most stylized routine we’ve seen this evening.”

This show is so much different from American Idol because unlike Idol, everyone on this show is very good. No one was horrible tonight!

    This week’s ranking:
    Worst)Cedric & Faina
    8)Dominic & Sabra
7)Pasha & Jessi (only by default)
    6)Hok & Jaimie
    5)Jesus & Sara
    4)Jimmy & Shauna
3)Neil & Lauren (a million times better than last week)
    2)Kameron & Lacey
    Best)Danny & Anya
