Don’t Forget The Lyrics Coming To Fox
June 23, 2007 02:19 AM by Joe Blackmon
“‘Cause this is thriller, thriller night …” Can you sing the next
verse? We all think we know the words to the world’s most popular
songs, but when there’s a million dollars at stake, will contestants be
able to keep singing when the music stops? Or will they be at a loss
for words? Wayne Brady hosts the new game show DON’T FORGET THE LYRICS!
premiering Wednesday, July 11 (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) and Thursday, July
12 (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
On DON’T FORGET THE LYRICS! contestants will choose songs from different genres, decades and musical artists. Then they’ll take center stage to sing alongside the studio band as the lyrics are projected on screen – but suddenly the music will stop and the words will disappear. Will the contestants belt out the correct missing lyric, or freeze under pressure?
After each correct response, contestants must decide to “Stay & Play” or “Take the Money & Run.” If they sing 9 songs correctly, they are presented with a No. 1 hit and one final missing lyric for the top prize of $1 million. It’s that simple: 10 songs, 10 missing lyrics, 1 million dollars.
Wayne Brady is a versatile performer known for his ability to act, sing, dance and make audiences laugh. His syndicated talk/variety series, “The Wayne Brady Show," won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show and garnered him two Emmys for Outstanding Talk Show Host. He demonstrated his improvisational skills on “Whose Line Is It Anyway?”, for which he received an Emmy as well as four Emmy nominations. His television credits also include “Everybody Hates Chris,” “How I Met Your Mother,” “30 Rock” and “Chapelle’s Show.”
On the big screen, Brady recently starred in the feature “Crossover” opposite Anthony Mackie. He completed voiceover roles in the animated DVD features “The Adventures of Brer Rabbit” and “Stuart Little 3: Call of the Wild,” and provided a voice for the upcoming animated feature “Foodfight!” Brady, who also played “Billy Flynn” in the Broadway production of “Chicago,” currently can be seen starring in his live show, “Making It Up,” at the Venetian in Las Vegas.
DON’T FORGET THE LYRICS! is produced by RDF USA and Brad Lachman Productions. Lachman, Jeff Apploff, Chris Coelen and Greg Goldman serve as executive producers and Brian Veskosky serves as co-executive producer. The show was created by Apploff.
