With its sophomore season attracting more than 19.5 million viewers to
date, HGTV Design Star is already gearing up for its third season. The
show’s producers have announced the launch of a third nationwide search for
professional and novice designers, architects and artists who believe
they have the talent, expertise and on-camera skills to host their own
show on HGTV. The network will accept submissions for the third season
postmarked between Sunday, September 2, 2007 and Wednesday, October 31,
2007. Viewers can get applications, entry rules and additional
information about the search by visiting HGTV.com/DesignStar.
"Everyone thinks they have what it takes to be an HGTV Design Star, so this is the chance for potential finalists to quit armchair quarterbacking and get in the game," said James Bolosh, vice president, event programming, HGTV. "HGTV Design Star is a tough competition and the designer who is able showcase their talent and prove that they have star quality will see their dream of hosting their own HGTV show come true. We’re one reality competition that truly delivers on the promise to make someone a household name."
Bolosh expects season three of the popular series to again exceed viewers’ expectations and completely change someone’s life. Potential finalists should possess great design talent, be able to execute their creative ideas and have strong on-camera presence. They will join the network’s expert talent roster which includes stars such as Candice Olsen, Lisa LaPorta, Carter Oosterhouse, Eric Stromer, Kendra Todd, Steve Watson, Vern Yip, and first season HGTV Design Star winner, David Bromstad.
By summer 2008, viewers will be able to experience all the fun and great design drama when the next season of HGTV Design Star premieres. As in the past, fans can expect more devilishly clever design challenges that inspire creativity and ingenuity as well as incredible designs that feature real people, in real situations, in real homes. After a final viewer vote, one designer will be selected to host his or her own show on HGTV.
Since its second season premiere on Sunday, July 22, HGTV Design Star has continued to garner stellar ratings and expectations are high for another record-breaking season finale on Sunday, September 16 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Once America votes, the winner will immediately begin production on his or her new show. Bromstad is currently one of the network’s most popular hosts and due to overwhelming viewer response his show Color Splash was picked up for three additional seasons.
