Dancing With The Stars Results – Albert Reed Eliminated

October 02, 2007 09:10 PM by Joe Blackmon

Albert_reedOn the second Dancing With The Stars 5 results show, hosts Tom Bergeron
and Drew Lachey kicked things off with a recap of the top eleven
couples performance show
.  The judges selected Helio Castroneves &
Julianne Hough to dance an encore of their Mambo.

Tom Bergeron revealed that Jane Seymour was not on the show tonight because her mother passed away and she returned to England to be with her family.  Bergeron added that after the viewers’ vote and the judges’ scores were combined that Jane Seymour & Tony Dovolani were safe and that Jane was going to remain in the competition in honor of her mother’s memory.

Bergeron revealed that Helio Castroneves & Julianne Hough were also safe from elimination.  Latifah made a special guest appearance to perform "I’m Gonna Live Till I Die.”  On behalf of the entire cast and crew, Wayne Newton said “Jane, we want you to know how very much we love you.  We’re keeping you in our hearts and our prayers, and we all embrace you.”

Bergeron and Lachey revealed that Melanie Brown & Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Sabrina Bryan & Mark Ballas were safe.  In a comedy skit, Jimmy Kimmel revealed that all the Dancing With The Stars votes were counted by The Count from Sesame Street.  Bergeron announced that Mark Cuban & Kym Johnson were the next couple continuing in the competition.

Queen Latifah returned to perform “California Dreamin.”  Bergeron revealed that Marie Osmond & Jonathan Roberts and Floyd Mayweather & Karina Smirnoff were the next two couples definitely continuing in the competition.

After a commercial break, Bergeron revealed that Jennie Garth & Derek Hough and Cameron Mathison & Edyta Sliwinska were safe.  Wayne Newton & Cheryl Burke and Albert Reed & Anna Trebunskaya were the bottom two couples.  Bergeron announced that Albert Reed & Anna Trebunskaya had the lowest combined viewers’ vote and judges’ score and were eliminated from the competition.  Albert Reed said “I’m a little stunned, but we did the best we could.  It’s all you can ask for.”

Can’t believe they got voted off. They were one of the best couples and he actually has a personality and could dance. Yet another election America can’t get right.

totally agree with the last comment. Albert was a great dancer and had a lot of appeal. I think that he may have lost some votes due to his resemblance to the soap actor dancer.

I was shocked! They did not deserve to be eliminated. I really thought it would be Wayne Newton and Cheryl. He’s a great singer, but really wasn’t a good dancer. STUNNED as they say!

ALBERT GOT ROBBED! It was clear the Wayne Newton should have been eliminated, although he is a great singer, he was terrible at dancing. Popularity should not come first, this is a DANCE competition!

I too am stunned! Obviously Albert was a better dancer than Wayne. He also did a better job than (and i am sorry) Jennie Garth, and a couple others. I thought this was a dance competetion. I was looking forward to seeing Albert dance over the next few weeks. And Yes, I did vote for him.

Wayne’s quickstep was a disaster: as soon as he missed his cue to kiss Cheryl’s hand, he ended up nuzzling her sleeve-feathers like no human would. I thought Albert and Anna did much better. They got gipped.

Did Albert & Anna deserve to go home?—>http://www.youpolls.com/details.asp?pid=626

I was shocked that Albert and Anna were eliminated. Albert showed a lot of potential. Wayne is a horrible dancer and Jennie was a disaster yesterday yet they are safe. Oh well…

I’m not watching DANCING WITH THE STARS any more! I’m pissed that Albert Reed got voted off, and it shows me how screwed up the voting is. Just like when Mario Lopez, the best dancer they ever had on the show, didn’t win! Albert Reed got voted off, because he doesn’t have the fan base that the other “stars” have. And the judges scored him too low! He should have at least stayed on until the final 6 contestants.
Anyway, he’s only 20 years old, and this was a good play by his manager, publicist, and agent. The public didn’t know him before, but everybody knows him now, so it gives his people better bargaining power to get him into soaps or movies. I hope to see him again, and GOOD LUCK, ALBERT! YOU’RE THE GREATEST!

Wow! I really don’t like the fan’s voting. Wayne should have gone off without a doubt. not that Albert would be the winner, but he sure was a better dancer than Wayne. Doesns’t make sense. This is a show about dancing, not who is the most popular.

  12. tawanda Says:
    October 2nd, 2007 at 11:46 pm

I think they got voted off because of Anna. She is always posing away from the other dancers like she is something special. She put me off the couple even though I really like his personality and thought he had potential.

He was the best male dancer after Helio and one of the best in the competition. They really need to start giving more weight to the judges scores as it’s pretty obvious at this point that people are voting for people they are fans of no matter how poorly they dance. Someone like Albert hasn’t previously built up a fanbase so they are out.

I CANNOT BELEIVE THEY VOTED ALBERT OFF!!! I fell asleep last night and I just got online to find out who they voted off—Jenny Garth or Wayne Newton. I think Albert was better than alot of the people left. Maybe the shows producers want people like Wayne Newton and Jerry Springer to stay on because than they will probably get better ratings
with those popular stars or people
like them. Albert wasn’t known very well and the people out there were not ready to let Wayne or Jenny go. They have “FANS”.

  15. Herb Says:

Sadly we will have to watch Wayne one more week. I have to think there had to be a number Wayne’s fans that were delirious on pabulum or something for him to have survived after his dismal performance with the quick step. No, Albert probably could not have won, but he was by far a better dancer than Wayne. And can you believe Wayne’s partner said he was the best partner she had ever had. Who’s buying that BS.

What’s wrong with American voters? I think they vote with their eyes closed… Wayne should have been eliminated. Albert had a lot of potential…. I am really pleased with Helios performance! My favorite IRL racer and favorite Dancing with the Stars dancer! YOU GO HELIO!

Albert Reed doesn’t deserve to be eliminated! What in the world the viewers were thinking. This is not a popularity contest. The only person should be gone from this competion is Wayne Newton. I like him but he was awful last Monday night. Can’t you guys see? Better luck next time.

  18. pat Says:
    October 3rd, 2007 at 8:41 am

Albert Reed did not deserve to go he had a lot of charm and a great personality, plus he could dance, unfortunately I think people voting for Wayne like him no matter what and were hoping the maybe the billionaire would lose before Albert.

  19. Mike C Says:

There is no doubt Newton should have been “voted” off. Albert was a much better dancer, was enthusiastic, and would have given Helio and Julianne a nice run for the title.
Newton’s plastic face cannot be winning fans. He moves like he’s in slow-motion!!!
Are the seniors keeping him around?
He’s 65!!!Please, no more controversy voting like this.
Hope there’s a fast Latin dance coming up to expose him and the voters!
    Sorry Newton–we are stunned!!

I am flabbergasted that Albert got eliminated and not Wayne. I think they should no longer have the viewers voting because it has become a popularity contest and not a dance contest.

    Folks:

I’m shocked that Albert received the lowest vote total, but I also can blame myself in part because I didn’t vote for him. Please keep in mind that if you don’t vote, you must live with the results. The fact is, Wayne Newton has more active supporters than Albert Reed, so who’s really to blame here?

If you don’t think your vote will make a difference, get your friends and others who watch the show and commit to voting for everyone except Wayne so he will get the lowest vote total. Don’t blame the show – if you’ll recall the first season Kelly Monaco won when it was totally the judges’ call. The outburst from that changed the system to incorporate viewer votes.

The solution – VOTE, VOTE, VOTE.

  26. Barb Says:

Yikes!! Wayne Newton is one of the worst ‘dancers’ I have ever seen. I am not impressed in having viewers vote.

Please relay to the producers and sponsors of the Dancing with the Stars TV show that there is at least one viewer (and more if I can persuade others) who will not watch the show next year nor buy the products advertised unless the viewer/judge voting method is altered so that the judges’ decisions carry more weight than those of the viewers. Last night was the straw that broke my camel’s back when Albert Reed was voted off. The voting viewers obviously do not give a whit about the dancing ability of the participants. Albert was a young man of obvious dancing talent and potential. Mark Cuban, Wayne Newton, the boxer (can not remember his name), and maybe others should have gone before him .. but his name was not known. It has become a popularity contest and that is not why I watched. I will watch the remainder of this year (being careful to NOT purchase advertised products) and the first show of next year. If the same voting method is used next year, my TV channel will be changed.

Why can’t DONNY OSMOND take Drew Lachey’s place as CO HOST?

Drew Lachey should just stick to the Dancing..His hosting ability is insultive to the Dancers and DRY..At least Donny has a more personable feel and quite simply a personality…

Oh no! America is over! God help us all! First George Bush and now this! Oh my word! Unbelievable! I can’t believe that blah blah blah… SHUT UP PEOPLE! Its a friggin TV show, of course popularity will reign supreme! What, you think this is electoral science? Ladies, stop your crying, put the bon-bons down and go do the laundry or something. I, for one, will now do my best to vote for Wayne every chance I get!

Wayne it’s time to go, I think you’ve made it far along with your name and legend status. Which couple do you believe will be eliminated next? –> http://www.youpolls.com/details.asp?pid=633

I’m sure the producers of the show don’t want Wayne Newton to go because he is bringing in ratings. I would not trust “votes” as they probably tweak the results to get the ratings!!!

Wayne cannot dance. Let’s stick to ability, not popularity. Wayne isn’t even popular with us! Floyd cannot dance, either, and he should have been eliminated. The other dancers are trying hard and performing well. Albert should not have been voted off.

I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED TO SEE ALBERT VOTED OFF. I MAY NOT CONTINUE TO WATCH THIS PROGRAM BECAUSE IT IS NOT A TALENT CONTEST, IT IS A POPULARITY CONTEST. THERE WERE A COUPLE OTHER DANCERS THAT COULD HAVE BEEN VOTED OFF BEFORE ALBERT
