Dancing With The Stars Results Shocker – Sabrina Bryan Eliminated

October 30, 2007 09:14 PM by Joe Blackmon

SabrinabryaneliminatedOn the sixth Dancing with the Stars results show, hosts Tom Bergeron
and Samantha Harris reviewed the performances from the top seven
couples performance show
.  Bergeron revealed that Jane Seymour was not
there tonight because she had a suspected case of food poisoning.  The
judges selected the Rock N’ Roll group dance from the performance show
for an encore.

Special guest star Barry Manilow performed “They Dance,” while professional dancers Cheryl Burke and Louis Van Amstel danced.  After some audience feedback on last night’s show, Bergeron and Harris revealed that Melanie Brown & Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Jane Seymour & Tony Dovolani were the first two couples that were safe.

Bergeron introduced a clip about Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli’s new show Dance War.  After showing some scenes from various audition cities, there was a live dance performance demonstrating the type of choreography that would be seen on the show.  Barry Manilow returned to perform “Mandy,” while professional dancers Ann Trebunskaya and Jonathan Roberts danced.

After a clip on how the cast has bonded this season, Bergeron and Harris revealed that Helio Castroneves & Julianne Hough were safe.  As the final four waited on stage, Bergeron and Harris revealed that Marie Osmond & Jonathan Roberts and Jennie Garth & Derek Hough were safe, while Cameron Mathison & Edyta Sliwinska and Sabrina Bryan & Mark Ballas were in the bottom two.

After the shocking revelation of the bottom two couples, the judges voiced their displeasure.  Carrie Ann Inaba said “I would be devastated if either one of you left.”  Len Goodman said “Well, there’s been some bizarre things happen, this takes the biscuit.”  Bruno Tonioli said “I think it’s madness.  It’s total madness.  I cannot understand it.”

Bergeron announced that the couple eliminated from the competition was Sabrina Bryan & Mark Ballas.  When asked what she got out of the show, Sabrina Bryan said “Oh my gosh, an amazing opportunity, an incredible cast, I have grown so much as a performer out on this stage.”  Sabrina & Mark danced their last dance, while Barry Manilow sang “My Eyes Adored You.”

I am shocked! Sabrina was the best of them all. Feisty, sharp, crisp and a delight to watch on the dance floor. I have no reason to continue watching the show.

Wow cannot believe that I know this season has had a lot of great dancers but there were others that could of gone home before these two. Its hard choices on who to pick but wow

RECOUNT!!! as a faithful follower of this show, tonight was it for me. I thought Sabrina would last to the end and after 6 weeks of performing, I think she was absolutely the best. These reality shows better get a grip on how the public is voting if they want their shows taken seriously. They can step in and I think they should after this vote. A lot of people will stop watching now, I’m sure.

I am sick!! Sabrina should have made it to the final 2 – I have been torn between here and Helio! If he goes, I will stop watching!!

there needs to be a dance-off like in season 1!! this is so unfair

  6. george shimer Says:

Sabrina is out because of the judges (not necessarily the fan vote) – The judges came down hard on her (received only a 25) compared to several others who scored higher. Sabrina was the best dancer, the judges knew this but came down harder on her compared to the others. Shame on you judges!

  7. Priscilla Rye Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 9:35 pm

This is just unreal…..I guess I can’t complain because I didn’t vote. I just think it is unfair the way it is done, the REAL judges should be able to make the choices. This should not be a POPULARITY contest. I am shocked!!!!!!!!!

  8. Elizabeth Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 9:36 pm

I am very disappointed. She was the best dancer. She should have won. Well go Jennie Garth, I hope she can go all the way

  9. Sharon Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 9:37 pm

I cannot believe that Sabrina was voted off. She may not have had her best night, but she also had a week from hell with her other obligations, and still managed to perform a great dance – certainly better than Jane or Marie. Her performances were consistant and wonderful and she deserved to be in the finals. I am in total shock and am hoping it is a big mistake.

  10. Ramona Andrachik Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 9:37 pm

I am really shocked at the outcome of tonight’s elimination of Sabrina and Mark; I honestly felt they would be the ones to go all the way to the top. Don’t think I will be a faithful watcher of the rest of this show.

  11. marcia Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 9:40 pm

Sabrina and Mark are outstanding dancers. The show better get a grip on how people are voting and
what they are voting for. I personally don’t feel that I care to watch Dancing with the Stars anymore.

  12. Jamie Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 9:40 pm

I have no reason to watch the show now! Marie Osmond or Jane Seymour should of been the ones to go! Mark and Sabrina were one of the best! Hopefully Mel and Max will make it to the end!

  13. pamela Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 9:43 pm

What a bunch of $hit!!! How unfair is it that someone this talented gets outted like this when it’s so obvious that it should have been Marie. Mark my words, Marie will be the next to go because she should have went this week. Now, before I get blasted with hate mail, I LOVE Marie. Donnie was my big crush growing up. She just wasn’t as good of a dnacer as Sabrina. How sad that this has happened….. I am quite sure Marie feels just terrible about it….

  14. Michelle Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 9:44 pm

The fact that Sabrina was voted out is a complete outrage! She has been the best dancer from the get go. The voters have lost their minds! Why is Marie Osmond still in the running???? Makes no sense! I will surely miss Sabrina.

  15. August Dedual Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 9:44 pm

Sabrina was one of the best dancers on the show. I think it is a shame, because she is not as well known as Jane or Marie. That the american people did not vote more for her. People need to vote…

  16. Natalie Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 9:44 pm

Sabrina should have won this season. Finally we had a female dancer who could actually dance and was fun to watch. I am so shocked and disappointed.

  17. sandy Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 9:45 pm

This is it for me tonight – how can they vote off the best dancers — recount for sure – needs to be done—- the dancers from this season are not the best and this sure added to my reasons for this being my last watch of the show for this season… something is wrong here..

  18. Karon Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 9:45 pm

I can’t believe that Sabrina and Mark were eliminated from Dancing With The Stars. Face it, she should have been in the finals. No one, right now, is showing the potential she demonstrates everytime she dances. The judges had no business giving her the score they did last night. If it was to prove a point they wanted to see more “dark and light” between her movements….all that did was get her eliminated. I won’t be watching anymore this season!

  19. Lidia Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 9:51 pm

I have watched this show since it’s conception and am totally appalled by tonight’s results. Although I may not always be in agreement with the judges, I find that they offer constructive criticism, are consistent and fair. I cannot not believe that Sabrina and Mark have been eliminated. Based on their performances, scores and judges’ comments they deserved to be in the finals. Bruno was right when he said that this was madness. I, too, encourage that the votes be looked into. If they go, as far as I am concerned the show loses credibility and I will no longer watch it. I hope that action will be taken and Sabrina and Mark will be reinstated.

  20. Lisa Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 9:51 pm

It is a total outrage that Sabrina was elimated. She was definately one of the best. I think the judges should address the public on how to vote. It is not a contest of dancing skills it is more of a popularity contest of who has the most fans. It is very unfair.

  21. marys Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 9:51 pm

I am pretty upset. Granted Sabrina does have dance and choreography background but the Producers of Dancing invited her anyways. Others without the same advantage have been dancing just as well as Sabrina, like Helio and Mel B so she definitely was not a ringer. Did people not vote assuming she was already Safe like they stupidly do on these types of shows. Donnie Osmond made the comment on ET tonight that Sabrina has/had a unfair advantage with her background over the other Dancers.

  24. Alyssa Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 9:53 pm

With Sabrina and Mark gone, there is no Competition and no reason to watch anymore. It is only a popularity contest at this point, they need to find a new name for the show .

  25. ken Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 9:53 pm

I bleive that the voting needs to change. The fans votes needs to be elimnated, and judges are experts in their field, and their vote should be the one that matters. Tonight show was a tradgey all around, and I think this show will lose viewers because of this shocker.

  26. Ron Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 9:53 pm

Popularity vote for ABC and nothing else. Having a dance show or American idle is all up to who is liked and not liked reguardless of talent. Huge mistake for the network. Think about what matters and not how much money ABC will make. Later to ever wathcing this again!!!!!!

  27. Johnny Holland Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 9:54 pm

Absolutely the best dancer got voted off tonight. Remember that the judges also scored her low; so they are hypocritical being surprised. Can we vote off these aweful judges. They are terrible. They need to go. Let’s have a reality show where the public votes off the judges.

  28. Janice Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 9:54 pm

I think it is awful that Sabrina was voted off. ABC needs to check out the internet voting, because I tried to vote for 30 minutes last night, and it would show the vote now and then it wouldn’t let me vote! Maybe some others that tried to cast a vote were not able to, like me!
    Sabrina may have lost unfairly!

  29. Mel Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 9:55 pm

I’m done watching ABC after this…absolutely unbelievable. She not only should have won, but this, without a doubt, makes me wonder about the entire voting process on this show. How is this even possible, that such dancers like Marie, Jane, Cameron, Jennie, Helio and Mel can still be on, and Sabrina is gone? I can’t stop shaking my head…unbelievable.

  30. Diane Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 9:55 pm

Perhaps part of the reason for Sabrina being eliminated is because a portion of the country wasn’t able to see the show on Monday night…we only had Monday night football on ABC. Sabrina was my favorite and I am very sad that she is gone. Who voted for Marie – her family? It is just not right. Sabrina could dance better than almost all of the others!

  31. Yeah! Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 9:56 pm

I guess I’m the only one here who was happy that she was voted off. I just don’t care that she is gone (as do many people who obviously DIDN’T vote for her) and certainly didn’t enjoy her dancing half as much as the rest of you…

  32. Me Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 9:58 pm

Becuase stupid people think she will be safe and they don’t vote for her.

  33. Tom Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 9:58 pm

Sabrina getting voted off was a disaster. It just shows that the voting system doesn’t work and they need to eliminate dancers another way. She was the best dancer left by far, Jane and Marie should have been first.

  34. Jennifer Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 9:59 pm

Wow…. it goes to show that it’s anyone’s game in the end.

Sabrina was certainly not the best dancer in the competition, week after week I’ve complained about it especially after her so called perfection a couple weeks ago. I personally hated the fact that she was the crowning glory of the judges with or without any Disney background when I saw so many flaws in her performance. I’m glad the judges finally scored her fairly after all these weeks.

In the end this does give me hope that Jane or Mel might be the next female to win without the cloud of doubt that Sabrina would out-fan everyone. :)

  35. Patricia Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 10:00 pm

I’m sorry but did anyone see Jane do the jive?? She is normally quite good and elegant but that dance made her look ridiculous!! How could Sabrina and Mark eliminated? I have watched and loved this show from day one but after tonight, I’m done! I honestly thought they were going to win the whole thing!

Remembering the very first Dancing WTS’s when O’hurley felt the same way, I can only say it has always been a popularity contest. How about Jerry Rice,or Emmitt beating Mario Lopez or most of all Jerry Springer going to top half.If you watched through all that and are still here, “you’ll be back”.

I think the reason the other dancers did so well is because they knew the ones to beat were Sabrina & Mark… I know I won’t be wasting my time on Monday or Tuesday nights anymore by watching. Sabrina & Mark were the ONLY reason I was watching. She was fiesty and fun to watch and she & Mark had some really wonderful chemistry. It’s DWS loss, it really is…

  39. Tiffany Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 10:02 pm

I could not believe my eyes or ears tonight! I am so mad and will not watch this show anymore! Sabrina and Mark were the best and still are. She should have been the winner in the end!

  40. BFS Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 10:02 pm

I have to agree it is quite shocking, Sabrina is a very good dancer. I have to say she and Mel & even Marie to an extent shouldn’t be on the show in the first place. They are dancers and singers, that’s what they do. Actors, sports figures etc, they’re the ones who should be on this show not people with dancing backgrounds.

  41. Scott Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 10:02 pm

This one is totally on the Judges. Shame on them.

  42. Pamela Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 10:04 pm

p.s. the judges were in SHOCK (they even said so!) and as far as ABC controling votes, how can they?? That would be concidered “tampering”. Either the audienace has 50% of the votes or they don’t, there is no “well maybe they do, maybe they don’t”. And, I get it, I should have voted if I felt this strongly, I just never DREAMED that it would comne down to Sabrina. Oh well, truth be know, the shock factor alone is going to generate so much positive publicity for Sab’s that she will sky rocket in popularity over night! It all boiled down to her just being too young to compete (right now) with Marie’s many, many, many years of celebrity fan base. And, again, I love Marie. I think she has done spectacular. Sab’s was just better. And isn’t this what it really boils down to? I mean, really, everyone knows that. So, as I always say, everyhing happens for a reason so I suppose I will just have to get over being pissed and sit back and watch Sabrina bloom……sigh…..

  43. theDiamondBaby Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 10:05 pm

I agree with Tiffany. Sabrina is out because of the judges. Then tonight rather than admit it was their fault, they tried to put the blame on the voters. The judges directed their comments to Sabrina as if she was a professional dancer and gave her only a 25, than scored the less talented dancers higher. Sabrina is by far the best dancer they’ve had on the show, and should have won.
I will not watch another episode of this dancing season!!!!

  44. emily Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 10:06 pm

At the end of the show, Mark and Sabrina showed alot more class than the judges! Did you notice how the judges stood up in unbelief (acting like they had no part in getting Sabrina off) – They were more critical of her than the others, it’s obvious that Marie has the Fan vote, so this show is a Popularity Contest!

  45. Norm Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 10:06 pm

We’re done with the show. Been faithful watchers the past couple of seasons. I guess this is one way to ensure Spice Girl wins the competition.

  46. Anonymous Says:

  47. Jen Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 10:08 pm

This is all reminding me of American Idol too much. I was hoping Sabrina would win this whole thing and based on all of her performances she should have been in the finale holding the trophy. This is the first season I’ve gotten into because I do believe that they are talented. Sabrina leaving halfway through the show is like Carrie Underwood coming in 7th place on Idol..it doesn’t make sense.

  48. BFS Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 10:09 pm

Sabrina is a professional dancer isn’t she?

  49. Yolanda Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 10:09 pm

Do to the fact that we live in a country thaat is not fair, I was shocked but not surprised that Sabrina didn’t get the votes that she deserved. She was clearly the top runner in the show. But based on her ethnic background and not her talent, she did not get the votes she deserved. America will never be fair when it comes to race.

  50. Anonymous Says:

This all but guarantees a Spice Girl will be crowned the winner…Still sad to see Sabrina go

  51. aneta Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 10:10 pm

I agree with some comments that this is a popularity contest. Only judges should have the authority to choose who gets voted off. Maybe there should be a panel of more judges scoring these dancers. There are definitely less talented dancers who should be voted off before Sabrina. I hope Mel or Jennie win.

  52. JB Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 10:11 pm

I was a little surprised of the bottom 2, mainly Cameron, but it was shocking to see Sabrina go. I thought that Jane and Marie were in the bottom 2, or Sabrina would be the shocking turn with more than likely Jane. Marie is infact has this HUGH fan base. Then Jane would have been gone. But Cameron and Sabrina in the bottom 2 and Sabrina going home…WOW!!!

  53. Charmaine Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 10:13 pm

I CALL 4 A BOYCOTT ON THIS SHOW. SABRINA WAS THE BEST DANCER. TELL ME WHY IS MARIE, JANE, CAMERON, & JENNIE STILL UP THERE? ONE OF THEM SHOULD STEP DOWN & LET SABRINA COME BACK.

  54. Dee Ivens Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 10:14 pm

What a disappointment!!! The best dancer and she’s gone! I’m sick of this audience voting. With Monday night football knocking everything out of schedule, I’m sure a lot of people were confused about what time they could vote. PEOPLE–VOTE FOR THE BEST DANCER, not your favorite celebrity. I’m not interested in the show anymore. It’s turned into a big disappointment.

  55. LINDA VIETOR Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 10:15 pm

EVEN THOUGH SHE WAS NOT MY PERSONAL CHOICE OR FAVORITE I WAS SHOCKED THAT SABRINA WAS VOTED OFF. I FEEL SHE HAS ALOT TO OFFER IN A DANCING CAREER BUT FEEL SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE EVEN BEEN INVITED TO THE SHOW DUE TO HER BACKGROUND OF DANCING AND CHOREGRAPHY.I ALSO FEEL TOO MANY VOTES ARE GIVEN TO THE VOTING PUBLIC I THINK IT WOULD BE A BETTER IDEA TO HAVE 1 VOTE AND MAKE THAT FOR WHO YOU WANT VOTED OFF.I TOO AGREE THAT THE PUBLIC SHOULD BE ABLE TO VOTE OFF THE JUDGES AFTER A SEASON OR TWO ENOUGH IS ENOUGH OF THESE THREE..

  56. Charmaine Says:

The best TV show in the last 2 years just became a farce. The network is to blame for allowing an unfair elimination system to commit such a horrible mistake like tonight’s. It’s made a travesty of the show and I hope people will protest, as I will, by not watching. It’s an insult to fair play and to deserving contestants who get unjustly slapped in the face. Why watch anymore? After all, it’s obviously not about who the best dancers are. Jane and Marie would show a lot of class now if they would resign the show in protest.

  58. mary Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 10:17 pm

WOW! I have been a faithful watcher for the last 4 seasons, no more I am done!!! Sabrina was by far the best dancer, I also agree that the judges should have done something about this and it appears that this show has turned into a Popularity Contest. What a Shame.! I WILL NOT WATCH THE REST OF THE SEASON UNLESS THEY DO SOMETHING TO MAKE THIS RIGHT! :(

  60. Marie-Louise Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 10:17 pm

This was the only reality show I tolerated. And now I can say I tolerate NONE of them! While I thought the program was extremely entertaining, the fact that Sabrina was voted off demonstrates that the votes, submitted by people who have no knowledge of dancing is based on popularity rather than talent and/or dedication to “getting it right.”
I really do not need this aggravation during my leisure time. Although I will miss the entertainment, unless the method in which the voting is conducted, I will not watch Dancing with the Stars again.

Thank you for the the entertaining moments I have enjoyed – I wish they could have lasted!

I think it was disgusting to say the least, the network and show just want more people to spend money texting and voting for the big bucks they get. They may think after this shocking episode more people will watch and vote but believe me many will stop watching now that Sabrina and Mark are gone including me and less likely to watch ever again. I don’t trust my votes even helps.

  68. JB Says:

The only reason Sabrina lasted as long as she did on the show in my opinion is that the judges were giving her the highest marks. So with that percentage and a small percentage of the viewers vote, she ended up safe. But with the votes from the judges last night, Third from the bottom, and the small percentage of viewer votes her time was up. Cameron and Marie have the fan base votes and Mel and Helio need to keep up their performances or they too might be gone. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE let Jane and Marie go home.
We did that for Jerry Springer and George Hamilton, Let’s do it for these ladies and keep the final 4 of Cameron, Helio, Jennie and Mel.

I missed the results show because of events with my kids, but thought I must be getting punked or something. Say it ain’t so. Not Sabrina and Mark, I love them. I watched this intermittently in the past, but was TIVOing Mark and Sabrina and watching over again on ABC.com. I won’t watch if you don’t.

  70. Ginger Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 10:31 pm

Of course it’s a popularity contest – they’ve showed ballroom dancing for years on cable, and it has limited viewers. I can’t believe you’re so surprised at this when the audience demographic is adult females 25-50. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard that people had no idea who she was, but they’ve grown up with Marie Osmond and Jane Seymour, and their kids all watched 90210!

  71. Amanda Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 10:33 pm

I was feeling so sick after they announced that Sabrina and Bryan were off. They were the best dancing couple. It shouldn’t matter if she had some dancing background she didn’t know how to perform all those dances before the show started. Another thing if football is such a problem why can’t they move the show to another night like wednesday? I think that there is way to much popularity contests going on. I think that there should be no eliminations 12 weeks or 14 weeks of every couple dancing every dance. Then the couples with the best scores from only the judges are averaged up and that couple becomes the winner.

  72. Maggie Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 10:34 pm

    To BFS,

Please don’t start with the race card. That has nothing to do with it. Neither does the judges giving her a 25 for last night – it wasn’t that low of a score. People need to VOTE for their favorites! If enough people had voted for her, she’d still be on the show. Yes, it’s very unfortunate that she was voted off, but please place the blame where it belongs.

Sabrina was NOT “full of herself”! She had a smile that would brighten the entire room and never once got bitchy like some “scary” person(s) did. Personally, I will watch and I will vote my ass off for Helio. Sorry, girls, I won’t vote for a woman just because I am a woman. The next best is Helio.

And as for some of the star’s being “dancers” to begin with, you CANNOT compare shacking your ass up on stage to ballroom dancing. Even these particular stars have admitted to this. It’s completely different and much, much more disciplined and technical.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Are the votes of the over-50 crowd the only ones being counted?????? How is Marie Osmond still on????? I’m sorry, but that’s indefensible. She needs to be off the show and take her whining brother with her. I’m so sick of the Sabrina-bashing by the geriatric crowd. Guess what – she’s from a generation where people actually know how to dance. Bring back Sabrina!!!!

While I thought Mark and Sabrina were a sure bet for the finals, this shows us how the votes can split. Like we’ve seen so many times on American Idol, Mark and Sabrina are splitting votes with some of the others. Those voters probably switch their support in waves each week. On the other hand, Marie and Jane most likely have a dedicated fan base that will never leave them. Mark and Sabrina simply got “caught” in the middle of a switch.

Sabrina has been consistently strong right from the get-go. Sabrina, you have gained some new fans by appearing on this show–even old ones like me (almost 50). America, the votings on these types of reality shows is getting absurd. If the viewers are supposed to be voting on talent, then vote by talent, NOT POPULARITY!!! Voting on true talent will avoid future results like this one. I felt in my heart Sabrina would be the one at the top of the heap at the end of the season. My faith in the voting American public has been strongly shaken!!!

I can’t believe the stupidity of the american tv viewer….can’t you understand that this show is a popularity contest instead of voting for the best dancer. i totally agree with the other bloggers that the best dancers this time were Sabrina and Mark. What a stupid system….i think ABC needs to review the voting system and make it fair to all.
My question is: what is the importance of the panel judges if the tv audience can keep a poor performer because of popularity and vote off an excellect dancer because of less pepularity. Total Lunacy !!!! Unless she is brought back we will NOT watch Dancing with the Stars again ever……

  88. doreen Says:

The judges are to blame that the best dancer of the season, Sabrina, was voted off. A pattern has emerged on this show. The judges pander to the big name, usually untalented, stars at the outset to ensure that they survive the first weeks of competition to save them from “humiliation.” This results in the more talented contestants being voted off first.
They did a number on Sabrina which was undeserved, and it backfired. First Seymour’s mother died, then she got food poisening and Osmond fainted. Between the judges ingenuous fawning over untalented stars with super egos, their sympathy votes and voting based on looks instead of talent, there is no credibility left in this show and no reason to tune in ever again.

Now who’s to blame? The judges? Marie’s fans? or maybe just maybe Jane’s fans? How dare them vote for their favorites. All of you that proclaim you will not be watching ever again, will watch again, matter of fact, you will all be there next Monday watching. Why? To KayKay: YES, I agree, Marie and Jane are FABULOUS!! I am 47 and wish I looked and danced half as well as they both have done. But, when dust settles, it’s not about how well someone dances for their age, or we would still have Wayne Newton on the floor and Jerry Springer would have won last season, wouldn’t we? No, Sabrina’s fans let her down because they didn’t, or couldn’t, all vote, for whatever reasons. Let’s face it, most of Sabrina’s fan base are young people and were probably out kicking it with their friends, not sitting in front of a TV with a phone in their hands ready to vote.

Why are so many people taking the elimination so seriously? It’s not a life-or-death situation. I don’t understand why viewers can’t take it for what it is…entertainment. I’ve had my favorites in past seasons, but my world never crumbled when/if they were eliminated. I like the serendipity effect, although I do sometimes wonder if voters are seeing what I’m seeing.

Shades of AI’s Chris Daughtry…?!? The inherent problem with any show that opens its voting to the public is sheer complacency. The assumption that one person is bound to “win it all” means it is taken for granted that they are just getting votes and they aren’t. Just like Daughtry’s early exit from Idol was a wake-up call for the public Sabrina’s untimely (and unwarranted) exit may be somewhat cathartic for DWTS. VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITES AMERICA…and maybe this kind of travesty won’t happen again.

I have seen the sometimes flagrant favoritism displayed by the judges for a couple of the women. Shame on the judges, and shame on those individuals who voted for the ‘popular’ dancer instead of the talented ones.

Sabrina has a smile that lights up a room, and the energy and passion that only some of us can wish for. Over-confident and cocky? She is a talented young lady who has demonstrated true professionalism and character that is not prevalent in some of the current Disney alumnis that have been in the news.

To CLT: The problem is not that Sabrina’s fan’s didn’t vote; the problem is that the people that voted for Marie and Jane did not vote objectively. They voted for their “favorites”, as you stated, but not for the most talented.

That is the rub here and is what will destroy the show’s credibility. It is the same reason that Emmitt defeated Mario, it became a popularity contest, rather than a talent contest.

Someone good gets booted before the “not-so-good” dancers do. Look at Billy Ray, Jerry Springer, Master P, and Sara Evens. It’s a show take it for what it’s worth which is entertainment. What I like about Dancing is that they take Judges scores and viewer votes into consideration-they don’t do that with IDOL it’s all viewer and can anyone say SANJIA I can’t even spell it LOL!

I thought… how funny when Tony jumped up and down in amazement that he and Jane were safe! But then to see that Sabrina is gone! She was on my top list to go all the way. I agree. The judges were way too hard on her compared to the others. They were trying to do the right thing to improve her talent, but they hurt her in the end. They should have scored her compared to the others and not been so critical with the points. I’ll miss her.

The judges scored Sabrina and her partner too low last night. That’s why they got booted. They were way too popular and Sabrina was way too good for there to be another explanation. Marie has improved, but her partner virtually drags her across the floor at times. You could see the incredulous look on her face because she was so sure she’d be gone this week.

  121. Sabra Says:
    October 30th, 2007 at 11:26 pm

I also expected to see Sabrina in the final three, yet the fact that she was voted off to me shows that the show couldn’t be rigged – she was obviously one of the best. I also think that Jane and Marie (much as I like them) should have been in the bottom two (why in the world was Cameron there?). That Sabrina happens to dance for a living is not an issue for me because ballroom is so much more disciplined than the type of dancing she does for her videos as evidenced by her inability to soften enough for some dances (hasn’t anyone seen the Chetah Girl videos? They are nothing like ballroom!). Jane has classical training which she can’t seem to break out of for the Latin dances and was totally sluggish at the jive. It seems to me that people are supporting their stars based on their other accomplishments and not for what they are actually doing on the dance floor.

Where did people get the idea that this was supposed to be a non-dancer competition (amateur dancers I think someone posted)? This is a competition for well known individuals regardless of their profession.

Finally, I imagine it must be hard for Jane and Marie knowing they didn’t actually measure up and were kept only because of their popularity. I expect that would be hard to live with.

  122. Weavis Says:

This will be very intersting to see what happens. The network will always have the last say in all of this it is there production. To bad will lose a very good viewer if it matters. The show should be called “Who’s the Most Popular Dancing Star”. I can’t believe that I have to sit through boring, lifeless dances by Jane and sometimes Marie, and even sometimes Jenny and Cameron just to watch the only two always good and exciting dancers left; Helio and Mel. It would be a good idea for ABC to change the voting process and let each phone # calling in only vote one time for the person they think should be eliminated. Unfortunately for us and ABC what could have been an exciting competition will now be a yawn fest while waiting for Helio and Mel to perform. What a huge disappointment. The final three, if you are going by talent, should have been Helio, Mel and Sabrina. I will only continue to watch due to Helio and Mel and I will be voting my ass off for them! Not that I’m sure all my votes even count.

Even though Sabrina hasn’t been trained in ballroom dancing, if you dance at all you can easily pick up and remember dance moves much more readily than a non-dancer.
Also, stop whining America. You’ve been watching the show for 5 seasons. The voting has always worked the same way. Suddenly, viewers don’t like the outcome of the votes and they are going to stop watching!! Aagh!! Go Helio!!

    Something to think about:
ABC isn’t getting enough response from the public.
Judges give bad review and low scoring to the best dancers on the show.
ABC gives supposedly correct results of public voting.

I too was stunned by the results. Sabrina clearly has talent and should have made it to the finals. I wonder if the phone lines caused this outcome. I tried callinf immediately and the phone was busy foe most of the 30 minutes. I began with Sabrina. After 5 tries I went in the reverse order of appearance and was able to castr my vote for Helio. Next, were Marie, mel and Cameron. Next, I hear that the voting is closed and to utilize the internet voting. I hope there is an investigation and Sabrina is allowed to continue.

  140. Just Wondering Says:

    Something to think about:
ABC isn’t getting enough response from the public.
Judges give bad review and low scoring to the best dancers on the show.
ABC gives supposedly correct results of public voting.
Viewers become outraged and increase voting for their remaining favorite dancer.
Results are that ABC is the only real winner with the increased viewer participation to up their ratings.

  141. Cheech Says:

I think that Sabrina had no right to be on the show, she is a dancer. She has studied dance, and has learned the basic steps needed for all these dances. I’t just didn’t seem fair to me that they got a dancer to go up against people that aren’t dancers. GO MAX AND MEL!!!!!!!!

HEY! That is a great idea from whoever you are that said, “It would be a good idea for ABC to change the voting process and let each phone # calling in only vote one time for the person they think should be eliminated.” Anyone else agree???

    October 31st, 2007 at 12:10 am

ya…she got kicked off and she was my favorite. but does anybody else think that her and mark have a thing. i have questioned it, but tonight kinda brought it out all the way. she called him baby, and he was kissing her forehead (so cute) during their last dance. i think they are cute, and if they are going out, she got a relationship out of the whole thing. that’s a lot better than a lousy trophy on a reality tv show.

  144. Matt Says:
    October 31st, 2007 at 12:14 am

WOW…I feel so robbed! Based on pure talent, Sabrina should not have been eliminated. I feel that the judges were completely unfair to her with those comments. She danced the way the dance was choreographed and gave it her all. With Sabrina gone, this is no longer a competition. IT WILL BE INTERESTING TO SEE IF ABC’S RATINGS GO DOWN NEXT WEEK BECAUSE THIS ELIMINATION WAS ALL WRONG.

JO and CT: Do you not GET IT???!!! Sabrina, Mel AND Marie are all three professional E-T-E-R-T-A-I-N-E-R-S. They all three have to know how to follow a choreographed “dance” routine on stage as part of their act. But you CANNOT COMPARE that to BALLROOM DANCING! Hellloooooo?! HAVE YOU WATCHED THE FREAKING SHOW AT ALL??

  148. Dr. Exotica Says:

Sabrina had it coming – an excellent dancer but a thoroughly unlikeable character. Never underestimate the personability of the dancers (r.e., Jerry Rice, Emmitt Smith, and Apollo Ono). Thank god I do not have to look at her cheezy Jimmy Carter smile any more.

sabrina is a CHEATah girl in my eyes. i have nothing against her in anyway except that she had an extremely unfair advantage. i think shes a great performer and cute as a button but it was a mistake putting her on the show. they wanted a female winner, they chose a female who had ALOT of dance training (more than mel b). and if any of you were true spice girl fans you will know that they werent dancing all the time like britney spears or these cheetah girls. their dance moves were simple hip hop style and not any professional training like jazz or ballet or tap like sabrina had throughout her life. mark is a talented dancer as well and yes, it is sad to see her go because of the competition aspect but im glad because now people can focus on everyone else instead of this OH SABRINA BRYAN IS THE BEST BLAH BLAH BLAH bullshit. mel b has grown out of that hip hoppy stage of dancing and has blossomed into a ballroom dancer. sabrina still was too hip hoppy in her moves. helio is staying on because julianne is an AMAZING choreogrpapher and that he is a charmer. he is not improving, just staying the same. jennie and cameron are improving every week. my top three are (in order of elimination) cameron, jennie, mel b. VOTE FOR MEL AND MAX!!! and wayne newton is still the shizzle in my eyes evenif he cant ballroom dance. im a wayniac and proud of it hahahaa.

‘dancing with the stars’ has truly lost its credibility. i really hope that this will be an eye-opener to how stupid popularity plays a major role instead of true talent. the strongest ones go home yet the weakest ones stay.

if the weakest couple ends up winning, the show is doomed to failure, and i would be glad. this is unfair, unjust, and unallowed. i will not be watching this show anymore!

THE MLB ALL STAR GAME WAS RUINED BY FANS VOTING INSTEAD OF THE SPORTS WRITERS WHO KNOW THE GAME AND PLAYERS AND NOW DWS HAS FALLEN INTO THE…WHO IS MOT POPULAR ROLE INSTEAD WHO IS MOST DESERVING. I AM SICK OF WATCHING THE DANCERS BEGGING FOR VOTES AND WHILE I HAVE GREAT RESPECT FOR JANE AND MARIE…I DO NOT SEE HOW THEY CAN CONTINUE.

I THINK THE JUDGES ON DWS ARE GREAT AND OFFER HONEST OPINIONS AND ARE VERY PROFESSIONAL BUT IF THIS IS GOING TO BE A POPULARITY CONTEST THEN I AM NO LONGER INTERESTED. THE SPONSORS WILL NOT MISS ME BECAUSE I TAPE THE SHOW AND FAST FORWARD THROUGH ALL OF THE BRAIN DEAD COMMERCIALS WHICH ARE REPEATED OVER AND OVER.

EVERY YEAR THEY STICK SOME POOR PROFESSIONAL WITH SOMEONE LIKE WAYNE, JERRY OR GEORGE FOR SOME WEIRD REASON AND WHEN THEY LAST LONGER THAN THE FIRST ROUND IT MAKES THE ENTIRE PROCESS SEEM PATHETIC.

sabrina was a good dancer but had an unfair advantage and abc knew that because they wanted a female winner and for the fans to want to keep watching just for that fact. i am a public relations/advertising/marketing major and this is just good marketing for the show and im surprised they didnt do it before. fan base is a huge aspect and sabrina (just like that monique chick and stacy keibler) dont have that big of a fan base compared to other dancers not just in this season, but past seasons. mel b and max are the best out there from the start i thought and still do. jennie garth and cameron mathison surprise me each week with their improving and helio, while good, is a charmer who relies on julianne fabulous moves and gymnastic ability to get him through. VOTE FOR MEL AND MAX!!!

Even if some of the competitors haven’t performed ballroom dancing, certainly professional dancing of any type will give them a huge advantage over the competition. Mel B. and Sabrina have a huge advantage over the rest of the field.

I really enjoyed watching Sabrina dance & I’m old enough to be Marie’s mother. I’ll miss her on the show. But at this point, I’d miss any of the dancers. If it were up to me, they could keep on dancing every week & I’ll keep watching. Now it’s called a reality show. It used to be called a talent show. At some point, all but one of those dancers will be gone. I don’t understand this vote, but I don’t understand the Bush vote either. In a contest, someone always loses. They all knew that going in. None of them will quit in protest. They’re all professionals, and they’ll continue to give their best to the end. While I don’t get the same endorphin rush watching dancing the way I got a rush from actually doing the dancing, I hope this show is on for a long time.

    sheri,

you CANNOT call sabrina a cheater because she is NOT a professional tap or ballet dancer. she took lessons as a kid. many past contestants on ‘dancing with the stars’ had backgrounds of tap and ballet dancing and they still made it to the show.

sabrina focuses on hip hop dancing, totally different from ballroom. many contestants now are also performers who have danced in their past so why do they get the advantage? your theory makes no sense whatsoever.

We all know that this show is based half on the judges scores and half on the viewer fan base votes. Personally, I find it sad that viewers don’t vote for talent and only for who they think is popular. It doesn’t seem to require talent anymore to be a star. That is obvious by half of the Hollywood scene. But who do we blame but ourselves. So tonight we see a very talented contestant leave the show because she just wasn’t popular enough. Think about it America, we have done it to ourselves. Start voting for talent, the real talent, or stop complaining.

Although we watch several of the reality shows we just never paid much attention to the show because we felt that audience participation shows usually turn out to be popularity contests with not much attention given to the talent of the dancers. We were very disappointed with the loss of Sabrina simply because we watch television to be entertained and that was exactly what that young woman did when she danced. She entertained us. Jane and Marie are elegant, beautiful women who are very talented but when it is entertainment we want, we prefer to watch someone such as Sabrina. This is about learning Ballroom dancing. Sabrina is a Hip Hop dancer and though she is very good at Hip Hop she could NOT adapt any style but that to the other types of dancing. She is too short and stocky also for Ballroom dancing and unfortunately her style of dancing does not look good when you view the other dancers. Yes Marie and/or Jane maybe should of gone. However, why are you taking away Jane’s elegance and Marie didn’t have an arrogance about her if she thought she would go. Sabrina relied on her extensive dance experience to get her through, but the others are learning as they go and they are improving, instead Sabrina just used her Hip Hop style in every dance she did. Sad to see the some say they will not watch the show? It is a reality show. People vote. Face it, A dancer she is………….A ballroom dancer to watch like the others? No!!

SAD, SAD, SAD, Sabrina Bryan is AWESOME so is MARK BALLAS. This may be the best thing that ever happened to either one of them. HOw dare America keep Jane Seymour and Marie in and vote her out. She has worked her ass off. I love Jane Seymour and Marie Osmond but the public voted for her because of their celebrity. How many Disney channel kids are up late enough to vote?????? Marc Cuban was very smart to keep on top of the voters. He always made sure to get his votes. Poor Sabrina and Mark. They are awesome. CBS better DO SOMETHING!!!!

I was just shocked of the results! I think Carrie Ann was equally disappointed by the look on her face. I loved watching Sabrina dance, every week it was a pleasure to see her. I just knew that she and Helio would be the last two standing – I don’t care about popularity – you vote for the best. I simply love Jane Seymour as an actress and she is such a lady, but I felt that she should have gone home or Marie. They both do well but they can’t touch Sabrina with her amazing moves. Well Sabrina you will always have a fan in me regardless of this vote. By the way these Reality shows are getting on my nerve. I have already declined watching American Idol for it has some big issues in fairness, that just got the best of me. Must I stop watching this show too? Just crazy.

Well, I guess I am in the minority here. I am not upset to see Sabrina go. This is not just a dance contest. If it was, the fans wouldn’t get to vote. The fans obviously want to see more of Jane and Marie and less of Sabrina. I was no fan of hers..she danced great but I just couldn’t warm up to her…too much ego I guess and I did feel that she had too much previous dance experience. That didn’t help her win over the voters. She was a show-off and that hurt her in the end. I don’t think Mel B. will be around for long either for similar reasons. I don’t think she has legions of fans among the voters.

well, i am shocked as well. i am shocked at how important this is to so many people. if we could only get this degree of passion over world events or the presidential race, just think how we could change the world? i think the fact that so many people vote for a dancing show, but do NOT vote in general elections is a sad commentary on our entire culture.

but enough of the soapbox. did anyone else see sabrina on good morning america this morning? she freely admitted that their “strategy” was to start off slow and build. she SAID that their consultants recommended that they not come out real strong at the beginning or people would be put off by her professionalism. so that pretty much proves the “ringer” theory. she was told from the get-go that she was too good, and that if it did not look like she was learning and improving the fans would boot her. come on, people, realize what this is!!! it is a show to entertain. there is no real competition here. look at this message board and multiply it by the hundreds of OTHER message boards. the goal is to get people talking and interested. do you think if everyone was voted off in an order that made perfect sense, that anyone would watch? BORING! this is the way to generate interest! and everyone please get over it and get on with your lives! it is not the apocalypse! we can survive…..

I’ve been a faithful watcher of Dancing With The Stars from the very beginning. I never realized that this show turned into a popularity contest. When did it change? Isn’t this show all about dancing? It seems the more fans you have, the better your chances are of staying on the show. Whoever came up with the idea of giving the public 50% of the votes should be ashamed of themselves. From the very first season of DWTS it was all about who has the most fans, and it hasn’t changed yet. Let’s face it; Sabrina Bryan is a much better dancer than Jane Seymour and Marie Osmond, and yet she was the one to leave last night. I’ll bet no one saw that coming. Why not give 75% from the judges, and the other 25% to the vewiers, or give it all to the judges. It’s really a shame that good dancers have to leave because they didn’t have enough fans to compete in the competition and vote for them. Unless you like popularity contests, then there really isn’t much of a reason to continue watching Dancing With The Stars. By the way, the title of the show should say it all for the benefit of the people who make up the rules of the show.

  230. annoyed Says:

Ok, first yes Sabrina has dancing background but so does Mel but it’s hip hop background not ballroom background. To completely different things. Marie doesn’t dance well enough to have had that much previous experience dancing. She just stands there and sings. But Cameron has improved so much and Mel is really good as well. It is a major loss now that Sabrina is gone but the judges didn’t do it. The votes cast by the viewers count just as much. Stop putting the blame on others. The judges held her to a higher standard so they judge her harsher and she was off her game this week so she got a little lower marks. But that is not what sent her home. And the comments about sending Sabrina home so that Spice girl can win is just stupid.

Why continue watching the show? It’s not a dance competition or it would just be Mel B and Sabrina and perhaps Cameron in the final 3. Its a popularity contest. If this were a REAL competition, only the judges would score until the final 2 were left – then let the audience vote. THEN it would be a real competition.
I have no reason to watch it anymore – it’s not really a competition now. I’m sure I can find something else to watch Monday’s at 7pm.

I am a huge fan of the show, but am continally disappointed of who gets voted off. I believe there needs to be a different voting system which gives the judges more control. If the star doesn’t have the fan base, they will be voted off soon, because people are voting for people they know and like and not on their performaces. Give the judges 60% and the public 40%, or have the judges scores acculumate from week to week and add the public score, or only allow the caller to vote for the worst dancer of the night. This isn’t a competetion, because if it was, only the judges scores would matter.

Do any of you remember Master P. a few years ago and how long he stayed on the show, he was not even a good dancer. His sorry butt would not even try to learn. The show gives the “people” too much power for this to be a dance compitition! And Sabrina didn’t have the fan base as the other competitors. I am very upset that Sabrina was voted off. I will not watch the show anymore, and for all of the people who are oh so convinced that all of us who say that we wont are really going to, let me explain. This was my first season watching this show, and it was a fluke. I was cooking dinner, abc happened to be on, I walked into the room as Sabrina came on, and she blew me away! She was the only reason I watched the show, and voted for her!!

And now to all of the people saying that she should never have been on the show in the first place: you do realize that in almost every professional actor/entertainers profile there is dance experience! I myself took tap ballet and jazz until I was 13 years old and I know I could definitely not do what they are doing, but I can hip hop dance pretty dang good. I grew up in atlanta and its hard to live in a town with that much music influence and not learn to dance. But this does not make me a professional. Have you seen Sabrinas hip hop? Its nothing like Ballroom dancing, AT ALL. And for whoever said she was clumsy! Maybe you forgot Brunos comment about the “surgical precision” of her footwork. Do yourself a favor, get some glasses.

And now, to those people who are saying that Sabrina fans did not vote for her. Sabrina is 23. She is a Cheetah girl. She does not have the fan base of Marie and Jane. But this show is supposed to be about who the better dancer is, not who has the most fans. My mom loves Marie Osmond, but she didnt vote for her, she voted for who she thought was the best dancer. If were just gonna vote for who were the biggest fans of, why make them dance at all?! They could just all sit around and drink tea, and we could vote!! That would be about as exciting as the rest of the season will be for those who return to watch it next week!

I got all so upset. My eyes were watering and I cant beleive it. She has so much energy and puts 110% of herself into it and makes it fun to watch as well. Why cant we know the score? I think it needs to be recounted. What a SLAP in the face to them both. I wont watch anymore cause they dont know talent when it is right in front of them. If they let her go over top of others that should have gone (you know who you are) then what is going to happen to the others that put their all into it. Yea there are a couple of others that ran close to her but that would have been a great show for us to watch. Come on show us how much she scored. WHY CANT WE KNOW THE SCORES? If we voted, then why cant we know the scores?

  247. AJM Says:
    October 31st, 2007 at 11:24 am

I love Dancing with the Stars and will continue to watch! I clearly think that based on the dances that nite, Jane should have been the one to go. However, it is a fan based vote. Sabrina clearly did not have the fans to back her up. I will also add, Sabrina is the only one that had a dance background which really is not fair and she was sort of cocky. I really was not that upset she got voted off.

  250. psv Says:
    October 31st, 2007 at 12:24 pm

Boo hoo, she got kicked off. It’s because people didn’t vote for her – what a shock! You need to vote to keep people in the race!

Look at every season: people who cannot dance stayed on because they were voted to stay. Marie Osmond is no different from Master P or Jerry Springer, quite frankly.

If you didn’t vote, quit whining. The public spoke.

  251. FlatFooted Says:
    October 31st, 2007 at 12:25 pm

I am not a big fan of Sabrina but yes, it should have been Jane or Marie who went last night, not Sabrina.

That said, never underestimate the publics support for the underdog(s). I think the fact that Sabrina was and is currently dancing, never mind the style, made her a pro in a lot of people’s minds and someone who should not have been on the show.

    That is not Sabrina’s fault, it’s ABC’s.

If your dance experience is in the past, you’re not in shape for it. Better than none but not the same as someone who is currently performing. Athletes have an advantage in being in shape, but not trained in the body posture, moves, etc.,for dance. I think that is what was so entertaining about Apollo last year, he had to overcome years of training his body for a certain type of activity.

I think ABC needs to come up with a policy that anyone currently dancing, professionally, in any way, is not “qualified” to be on the show. It should be about amateurs. Ditto how long they have been “not dancing.”

Judging- either make the split 60-40 as already mentioned, or bring in three more ballroom dance judges-not choreographers. They don’t have to give critiques. Make the total score a possible 60 points. That will keep the current 3 judges on their toes.

Stop whatever tabloid show it is that is having Donny Osmond give his opinions before the show. Where you have an audience voting this should be a no-no. I do not blame ABC,unless they agreed to it, nor do I blame Marie because we just don’t know if she’s happy about it.

That said, Sabrina was also hurt, I think, by the early gushing over her dancing by the judges. Add to that the perception/fact she is a pro, and the underdog vote comes into play.

Don’t underestimate, either, the audiences ability to keep someone around. Last year it seemed like the audience liked to keep Billy Ray around just to see how long they could.

Sabrina and Jane had the same problem on different ends of the spectrum. Sabrina couldn’t slow it down and make it soft, and Jane couldn’t drive it and speed it up. If Sabrina had a hip hop influence to everything, Jane had ballet. I think Sabrina was going to run into difficulty on the slower dances and may not have won the competition.

But this is all just an opinion.

  252. debby Says:
    October 31st, 2007 at 12:37 pm

well obviously they should make good tv here by staging some kind of “the judges intervene on sabrinas behalf!”
then they could put her back in in the name of judges outrage or somesuch.
then in the future they need to have the voting/judges rulings be divided up in a way that the best dancer cant be kicked off in the middle of the season.

  253. Anonymous Says:
    October 31st, 2007 at 12:42 pm

The show may want to look at how the voting is tabulated. It certainly does not make sense so far this season. When the best dancer is given the boot there has to be a better method of selection. Maybe judges could each have one vote a season to save someone who is unfairly eliminated.

  254. Colette Says:
    October 31st, 2007 at 12:42 pm

    Dear AJM:

I dont watch ballroom dancing. So I would not watch the National Championships. But it goes back to my point, if its just going to be a popularity contest, why even bother making them dance? The quality of the dance and the ability of the dancer are obviously not being taken into consideration. They could bake cakes instead. Or maybe see who can come up with the best way to get sympathy votes. That seems to work wonderfully.

I thought this was a show based on talent not just image. I will not watch this show any more in hopes of watching another talented couple get axed because of a popularity contest. If the show is based on image let the voters vote but if it is to be based on talent then it should only be up to the judges to decide since they are to be the experts. I know this is not the end of the world. I wish both Mark and Sabrina the best in whatever adventures they encounter and to keep their beautiful chins up high. They are winners. For those who want to keep their favorites, PICK UP THE PHONE AND VOTE LIKE MAD.

Remember, on American Idol this year, everyone assumed Melinda Doolittle was going to cruise to the Idol crown and keep the South’s dominance, but she got kicked to the curb and Jordin Sparks went on to win the title over Blake by a landslide.

I look for Mel B to win this competition, she BETTER win it too, Jane and Marie have no business staying there.

  265. Senator Phil Gramm (R-Texas) Says:

Jay, the only reason why Marie is still there is because of MITT ROMNEY and his sorry excuse of a presidential campaign.

Maybe fmr. Gov. Romney and his Mormon cronies manipulated some votes that kept Marie in the competition.

Mel B better win this thing.

Listen guys, the only reason that Sabrina was getting by, dispite her fantastic dancing skills, was the judges high scores. It seems to me that Sabrina had “Chris Daughtry” syndrome, everyone thought she was safe, so no one voted for her. Unfortunately, like Chris Daughtry, it was her first and last time in the bottom two. If this is the case, then it has been the judges scoring system that has been getting her by from week to week. And for those of you who are demanding a recount, and insisting that there should be a dance off, ask your self, did you vote? Clearly many of you did not. And for those of you threatening to boycott the show, honestly, what are you going to do with your Monday nights? Get real, it’s not going to cause a lose of viewership.

First off, yes this result was a shocker. Second, yes Sabrina did not deserve to go home last night. I think thats frigid bitch JANE should have went home.

Having said that, I don’t know if it’s just me who sees it, but Sabrina seems to be a one-trick pony. In the sense that she seems to do well only with her fast dances. Notice how she didnt do too well with her rumba and obviously not with her foxtrot. Yes is sharp, bouncy, and pretty much flawless when it comes to her fast dances, but unfortunately she has been unable to translate this to her slow dances, which requires more grace, fluidity, and technique.

Personally, I think it is Mel B who should win. She seems to be the MOST CONSISTENT and all around dancer at this point. With what she has shown so far, she proved she can work whatever dance she chooses, slow or fast.

It’s absolutly disappointing to see Sabrina being eliminated. This week’s had Len stating that ‘Americans like what’s fair and just’… I’m not so sure about it anymore. Apparently people judge by 3 things only: looks, popularity and simpathy. And simpathy plays an important role when we see potential winners being eliminated when other should be going home. Season after season we’ve seen people like Billy Ray, Jerry Springer and Wayne Newton sticking around for way too long. On season 5, at this point, it was clear that Marie and Jane should be the next ones being eliminated. It’s nice to see a 56yo woman dancing like a 15yo girl. But this is still a competition of technique and it doens’t make sense taking points off for illegal lifts and the country is still voting for smiles and wrinkles (the reason why we always see some stars willingly exchanging rules for entertainment).

Sabrina wasn’t even my favorite one, but to be honest, I knew this season would only be fair if she had won it.

This just goes to show, that “Dancing with the Stars” is nothing more than a poularity contest and has NOTHING to do with talent! ABC stands for ANYTHING BUT a real CONTEST! How can you have a talent contest, when after professional judges give their point scores, you ask the public to vote for their “favorite”? Oh I know, so your station can make #%@! loads of money! What a joke! Someone needs to start a petition from the internet, and send the signatures to a tabloid show, to show ABC and their advertsers how many viewers they lost.

As we all know, the show is intended for semi or non-trained celebrities to grow and become the best. Since day one, this chick dance awesome, but believe it or not, it took from the essence of the show itself. I agree many people liked her dancing, but she was overconfident. America voted her off, so obviously, our problem is that our society is too judgemental on people consider “show off”; therefore that’s what she got. ABC I can guarantee that you will lose your primetime audience. Producers, you have lost control of your show.

Well, I agree that it sounds weird that so many people spend their times worring about DWTS and such…

Well, the problem is that the result of a show like that shows that people DO NOT know how to vote and usualy take in consideration the wrong things. Then, YOU who doesn’t care, will see this is part of a bigger picture…. society. And analizing the history we see that people, all around the world, find all kinds of explanations to justify it, but in the end, they’re really chosing their Idols, Presidents, Heros and Leaders based on everything but talent, capability and hability.

People make choices by looks, charisma and empathy, by fear of terrorists (?), by party affiliation, by what their friends think, pitty… And many other wrong reasons….

So, my friends who doesn’t care (but who’s still reading and answering to such a uselless theme), maybe if you care a little more and bark a little less about it you can use what you learn and change your approach to people when trying to preach.

Her dancing was bull strength forced and she looked cloddy. She lacked fluidity and grace. She was also too sure that she would go all the way. The look on her face last night spoke volumes. The point is voting off a person who dances with such heart week after week is un-American. It flies in the face of the myth that people who work hard get rewarded. No one gets by with talent in this show, it’s hard work and the desire to be the absolute best you can be.

Sabrina was magnificent because she worked at it. She believed she would be recognized and rewarded for her effort. The fact she was not is extremely painful for me, for her and a whole lot of other people who thought this show was about something more than popularity.

I think perhaps the reason she was voted off is because America came to realize huh…duh she has her own personal dance choreographer who is there for her at her every beckon call. How is it fair to compare Jennie Garth (who has never once danced on a big stage before) to a famous dancing/singing cheetah girl? The same thing really goes for Mel B who memorized a dance in 6 hours???!!! I do have to agree that the judging is ridiculous this year and that Sabrina should have received much higher scores than they gave her. There is no denying she was the best dancer, but lets remember, she is a professional who does this every day. It really wasn’t cool that Monday night football took the place of the show in half of the country -that just isn’t fair to the voters. Another thing Marie Osmond should go, I am convinced it is her and that cult she follows keeping her in the competition. Don’t understand America’s fetish with Jane Seymour either…

I have been watching DWTS’S since day one. I haven’t always agree with some of the results and yes everyone is entitled to their own opinion, yes, even the judges, as well, but last night results was a slap in the face. Sabrina, is a very good dancer, she gave 100% of herself. Yes, Marie and Jane are good dancers, but let’s get real, Sabrina, was far too much of a better dancer than the two of them. I don’t feel sympathy for either one of them (Marie or Jane) because of their age, they agree to be a part of the show, then they needed to able to keep up with the others. I’m truly hurt, and disappointed. Len as a judge this season was to hard and harsh with Sabrina, why I don’t understand. He, should have been more firmer on Marie and Jane performances, as for me, I was tired of seeing ballerina, Jane, and maybe she all of sudden got food poisioning because she was afraid of being booted off herself, I thougth that was so unlike showmenship and unprofessional in her, and Marie, if she knew she had these fainting spells, she should not have been in the show at all, but it’s done. Sabrina, I will always be a fan of yours no matter what you do. You go girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I voted for Mel with all my votes because I figured Sabrina had it made anyway and I wanted to see Mel continue. What a poor choice. Man.. I’m so disappointed in the votes this week. Sabrina was, by far, the best dancer on the show. I would say Mel and Max were catching up this week but still, Sabrina has definitely been strong sicne the beginning. I think it’s unfair that viewers have mroe say than the judges, because it could simply be a popularity contest. They need to change how the voting goes. Perhaps the judges scores should weigh in somehow and add a certain ratio of votes to the number of votes from the viewers. That way, it’d be harder for the good dancers to be eliminated simply because they don’t have as big a fan base as some of the other dancers.

OK, after that, the show definitely needs to revise its elimination procedures starting next season. Here’s how I would change it:

From the start of a season until the Top 6 teams are decided, the top 3 teams with the highest judges’ scores would automatically be safe. The team with the lowest such score would immediately be put in the bottom two. The other team in the bottom two would be determined just like it is beind done tonight.

In the Top 6 and Top 5 rounds, only the top two scoring team on each week would be safe. In the final four, only the highest-scoring team would be safe.

Ties for anything are broken by home viewers, as usual.

The judges/producers would have the right to eliminate more than one team on a week if a week turns out to be really bad. Also, should any team get three 1′s on any dance before the rounds where your team has to dance twice, that team would be eliminated ON THE SPOT.

    What do you guys think?

  295. Jean Says:

Sabrina was caught between the gun fire of Jane and Marie’s performance. I believe people felt they needed to vote for Jane or Marie to keep them alive, not considering that Sabrina would be in jeapordy. Most would think Sabrina was safe as she was the top female performer. I guess I didn’t realize how important it was to vote. If only I would have done this for Sabrina’s sake. I don’t care to watch any longer, and could care less who wins this now!

    WAKE UP AMERICA!
It’s already been decided. The odd-makers have Helio to win it all. What ABC wants is a real competive choreographic final. That means Julianne and Derek will end up in the finals. It will be brother against sister; now that’s made for watching. Check the dances and the music Julianne and Derek had to rework earlier. They came out with some really good stuff. Sabrina was great, but she had to go now because she would cause havic for the voting if she stayed any longer. Marie and Jane will go next; then Cameron. Max will suffer his second third place in a row. That leaves the brother – sister act. It’s made for TV. Remember, keep your sanity and ignore the judging.

Sheesh some of you guys are harsh. Not to beat a dead horse but the hosts of the show say all the time it’s up to the voters. So as others have said Sabrina was the best dancer but people weren’t voting for her it seems. Marie doesn’t have a cult she has been in the public eye for years and is popular. She’s 48, has 8 kids and was dancing with less caution before fainting. Who can blame her? Personally I’m most impressed with Jennie, no dance background at all, and really improving each week.

Am I the only one who is not convinced that viewer votes really count at all? If they count, then why don’t they SHOW the results of those votes??? I’m mean seriously — if Sabrina’s fans knew she wasn’t getting the viewer votes she needed, they WOULD have gotten online and helped her!!! I doubt if ANYONE thought she was in jeopardy! I’m of the opinion that the whole voting process is a sham!

Since the judges’ scores are shown, the totals of the fan votes should also be shown. Then anyone watching could do the math themselves if they were in doubt!!!

So why AREN’T the viewers scores revealed? I believe they don’t show the results of the viewer votes because the producers of DWTS do whatever they WANT to do!!! By having the results of the viewer votes remain a “mystery,” the producers can decide on their own who goes and who stays. No one will ever be able to dispute the outcome because 50% of the score will forever remain undisclosed — a complete mystery. That is just plain WRONG in my opinion.

So why do I think the producers would only PRETEND that viewer votes count? In a single word, RATINGS. They think their ratings will be higher if they keep the most well-known (a.k.a. “popular”) celebrities around the longest. Poor Sabrina — being only 19, she wasn’t well-known at all by most of the people who watch DWTS. Nevertheless, she was by far the BEST DANCER and my personal favorite. She deserved to the win the whole thing!!!

I honestly hope that if I’m right — if the producers of the show decide who goes and who stays and simply use voting as a smokescreen to shift the blame for unpopular eliminations onto the viewers — then they seriously misjudged viewers’ reactions to the extent that Sabrina’s elimination really backfires on them!

For all of us who are appalled and it looks like there are MANY of us, please let’s boycott the rest of the show this season! Let’s show the network how we feel about this!!! They need to change the way that these dancers are scored or the whole thing is nothing more than a farse! It is NOT a dancing contest when five contestants stick around longer than the best dancer they’ve ever had!!!

And for anyone who doesn’t subscribe to my theory that viewer votes may not actually count at all, here is another example — In the Miss USA contest, there are “mystery judges” that select the top 15 before the judges you see on TV ever get to vote at all. Who ARE these mystery judges? Not even the contestants know. Ever notice how th

Seriously — if Sabrina’s fans had any INKLING that she was in jeopardy, they would have voted like CRAZY, but I’m not convinced it would have mattered. TV is all about ratings, and I honestly hope that DWTS ratings FALL flat after this gross miscarriage of justice!!!

I posted my last comment a bit too soon and didn’t make clear my comparison to the Miss USA contest. No, viewers do NOT call in or log on to vote for Miss USA. The one thing that the Miss USA contest has in common with DWTS is that a very significant part of the contestants’ scores remains a complete mystery forever.

I believe the producers of both shows decide who is going to win well ahead of time. If everything is on the “up-and-up” then why not be open and honest about the results? Why all the secrecy?

The poster who said it will come down to a contest between Julianne and Derek may be absolutely right! That theory actually makes a lot of sense because it’s all about ratings, ratings, ratings! And yes, if that is what the producers have in mind then having someone as fabulous as Sabrina left at the end would lessen the competition between brother and sister because neither of the siblings’ partners would be the best dancer left!

I want to say that I sure hope Sabrina finds this website and reads all of these comments! What happened to her was just plain WRONG and I sincerely hope she knows how the public feels about it.

Not only was Sabrina the best dancer DWTS has ever had, she was also an extremely gracious and very likeable person. Her parting words when she was eliminated clearly illustrated that she is a CLASS ACT in every way!!! No matter how unfair it was that she was sent home before the others, she had only POSITIVE comments for the show, the experience, and everyone else who competed with her. Very few 19 year olds would have been able to react with such poise, grace, and dignity in the face of such a huge disappointment.

In a world full of so-called “stars” like Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan who are always in the spotlight for their outrageously bad behavior, it is refreshing to know there is a young woman out there named Sabrina Bryan — a young woman who can be a true role model for today’s youth. I didn’t even know who Sabrina was before this season of DWTS, but I know who she is NOW and she can certainly count me among her biggest fans!

Sabrina, you ROCK! Thank you for gracing our TV screens with your amazing talent the last few weeks. You are a beautiful person both inside and out. You have many admirers and I hope that your future holds only the best.

Again Sabrina was not the best, she was like a bulldog in a dress who could get the steps of ballroom dancing down but still looked cloddy. She is only fit for her Cheetah dancing. The people are right about her dancing experience–she always had an edge on the others. Now how fair is that boohoo. She just didn’t have the votes, and showing actual numbers of public voting wouldn’t make a difference. So don’t watch the show or ABC every again. Or never turn your TV on again, or just stomp around your house, or just stop eating. boy wouldn’t that show ABC a thing or two–LOL. Grow up, get a life and stop the complaining already.

This is the one and only reality tv show I will actually watch, only for the dancing. I am always amazed at how well some of these people can dance, as an older woman myself, it was nice to see Jane and Marie move on the dance floor. Were they good? Yes. Are they the best? NO! I have noticed in the past years of this show that it is unfortunately a personality contest. Mario should have won over Emmitt, he was a big oaf on the dance floor! However, you people keep watching this and voting for your favorites! Stop it! I am not a fan of Cameron or even Edyta, but they can dance! Same will Mel B, she comes off as this high and mighty B*, but she can dance and really isn’t that what this is all about? I am very disgusted by the fact the Cheetah girl is gone so soon, I never heard of her before this show, thought she is somewhat ugly, yet this woman can certainly dance; and that is what is is supposed to be about. ABC just may have to relook at the voting systems, or this show will not make it another season.

I have to agree with some of the other posts…I think we have another case like Chris Daughtry from Idol. I think the fans were to complacent thinking Sabrina was safe and not voting. Also can there really be any doubt that by some of the results a good number of the votes are about who is “popular” rather than who is the best dancer ?

Absolutely ridiculous. Sabrina should never have voted out. Jane Seymour looked absolutely goofy out there dancing the jive. She should have gone. Don’t know if I’ll be watching this anymore.

Scoring should be changed as follows:

    1. Combine judges scores from week to week using some sort of weighted average that gives more weight to the current week but allows prior week scores to be added in. Having one low week after weeks of success should not remove a dancer from the competition.

    2. Using that weighted average, pick the lowest 4, 3 or 2 (depending on the number of contestants remaining) for the audience to vote on for returning.

    3. Leave the final choice of who leaves out of the bottom two to the judges. Even under the current voting system, that would have left Sabrina in the competition since despite his improvement, Cameron does not have the dancing talent to win this whole thing.

This, of course, takes some of the drama away from the results show, but what people prefer is FAIRNESS.

Get over it. A cocky and self-assured girl who didn’t belong on the show because of her dancing and choregraphy background got kicked off. People should be applauding America for bringing the show back for normal people. Out of millions I bet more are happy to see her gone. People just like to cry.

    REVOTE.

I agree that the voting system should be changed to voting for who you want to vote *OFF* the show.

Too manipulative and just sensationalism in order to boost ratings with the current, inaccurate method.

This time it really is too manipulative and finally enough to make us boycott the show (huge fans — this is the only show we watch and TIVO weekly).

Okay, stop with the crying about Sabrina getting eliminated. It’s done. Why don’t people get this upset about the people dying in Iraq instead? Sabrina already had an unfair advantage being a hip-hop dancer already. I’m not sad that she’s gone. She wasn’t that pretty to look at and was quite obese and overweight. You would think that she would have lost some of the pounds from all the dancing, but I guess when your best friend is that fellow Cheetah star and fat f-u-ck Simone, I guess that makes losing weight an impossible task. See ya Sabrina, we won’t miss ya.

    BRING SABRINA BACK.

We are only 2 families of viewers, but unless something is done to rectify this, we no longer wish to be manipulated and will no longer watch the show.

I’ve been a loyal watcher of the show since season one. As someone who dances ballroom as a hobby, I was shocked at Sabrina and Mark’s elimination. They were the best couple on the show, by far. The public voting system has to change. I’m done watching for this season. Its a travesty.

From now on, the show will be hard to follow. If the ability and hard work does not work, whats the point?.
I hope Sabrina will be back, for the good sake of the show and the others stars.

Well, I must say. I didn’t know it would be THIS disappointing and shocking. You guys really seems serious. I agree with Diane I want Helio or Mel to win. And like what Tiffany said, there shouldn’t be dancers with a hip-hop or whatever background because I can see sometimes that they do those moves mixed in and the judges don’t know!

I know it’s late – but how many people really think Donny Osmond caused the fans not to vote for Sabrina?

I think it was very unfair of him to go on Entertainment Tonight and make that statement about her being a professional. Obviously, the DWTS producers didn’t consider her a professional, so it shouldn’t matter to anyone else.

He has alot of pull with people and I think he prejudiced voters.

OK, I find it unethical that ABC (Disney owned) allows the Osmond family to so obviously manipulate public opinion.
Hear me out…Disney owns the ABC network, the original Osmonds started out back in the 60′s at Disneyland, Marie is making dolls that are 2b distributed via Disney, Donny is able to now make personal comments nightly on Disneys ABC’s Entertainment Tonight, The (ahem) dramatic fainting stint from Marie on live tv that had us praying all night lol, ya right, PR stint or real???, with ET over-reporting this and even more Osmond stories every night (gag), also a timely Osmond family reunion on the Oprah show even though the DWTS competition has not finished. (wonder how many votes Oprah swung to the Osmonds, “Oh” and whats this…what a surprise… the Osmonds have a national tour coming up. Go figure.
This Osmond stint on DWTS is part of a big Public Relations blitz/gimmick that I believe is being used to catapulte the big Osmond tour…Im not saying it isnt manipulative and brilliant…the promoters have found a free PR vehicle with DWTS, codos. Im just saying that this reality TV show doesnt seem to have much reality any more.
Good ol Walt just rolled over in his grave. Hmm..Wonder if that Disney Co. is involved in that Osmond tour as well???
