NBC has announced that their upcoming new reality competition series
Clash Of The Choirs will feature five musical superstars.  Michael
Bolton, Patti LaBelle, Nick Lachey, Kelly Rowland and Blake Shelton
have signed on to help create America’s "greatest" choir.  The show
will air live from New York over four nights, premiering on December
17th and continuing through December 20th.

Michael Bolton, Patti LaBelle, Nick Lachey, Kelly Rowland and Blake Shelton will attempt to bring together twenty individually gifted singers from each of their hometown cities in a limited period of time.  Michael Bolton will be traveling to his hometown of New Haven, CT; Patti LaBelle will be going to her hometown in Philadelphia, PA; Nick Lachey will be returning to Cincinnati, OH; Kelly Rowland will be going back to Houston, TX; and Blake Shelton will be traveling to Oklahoma City, OK.

The celebrities will be dealing with choir members from very different musical backgrounds and with very different kinds of vocal training.  Once the choirs are assembled they will compete in live performances in New York.  After each choir performance, the choirs will be judged by the alternate celebrity choirmasters and a musical expert.  However, the fate of the choirs will be determined by viewers watching at home who will have the opportunity to vote via phone or at www.nbc.com.

The winning choir, along with the hometown celebrity musician, will get to pick a prize to help their community.  The prize could be anything from renovating a school gym to an auditorium to a constructing a new neighborhood playground.

"Everyone knows that music has the power to inspire and uplift, especially around the holidays," said Craig Plestis, Executive Vice President of Alternative Programming, Development and Specials at NBC Entertainment.  "We have brought together an impressive roster of musicians, and they in turn have tapped some incredible local talent to share their musical gifts with the American public.  For the musicians it’s a chance to give back to the town that supported and nurtured them when they were starting out and for the choir members they become instant hometown heroes."

"We are over the moon that some of the world’s most talented performers are taking part in a show that’s set to be a high note of the holiday season," said Executive Producer Paul Telegdy, EVP Content & Production of BBC Worldwide America.  "There’s a tremendous amount at stake for these famous choirmasters competing for prizes for their home towns – it will make for a terrific show."

Clash of The Choirs will air its two-hour premiere on Monday, December 17 (8-10 p.m. ET) and will air Tuesday, December 18 (8-9 p.m. ET), Wednesday, December 19 (also a two-hour episode from 8-10 p.m. ET) with the final competition and naming of the "greatest choir" on Thursday, December 20 (8-9 p.m. ET).
