Back in July, Reality TV Magazine reported on a new reality competition called Run For Money that was in development by the SCI FI Channel. Mark Stern, who is the Executive Vice President of Original Programming for SCI FI, recently announced some more information about the show.
“‘Run For Money’ is a fun, fast-paced, thriller of a show,” said Mark Stern. “and fits nicely with our reality agenda of putting ordinary people in wild, extraordinary situations. It’s high-adrenaline fun; part sport, part real-life videogame.”
Run For Money will be executive produced by Scott Messick and Mess Media for Disney’s Buena Vista Productions and Fujisankei Communications International. The show is set to begin production in January in Los Angeles.
In Run For Money, a group of contestants is pitted against each other in the quest for cash prizes, while being stalked by relentless hunters. The competition lasts for sixty minutes of real time and takes in various landmark locations. As time starts to run out, more hunters appear on the streets, the game perimeter gets smaller, and tasks are assigned that test fraying nerves.
For every second a contestant says alive in the game, they earn money. A contestant may opt out at their choosing. However, if they are overrun by a hunter, then they lose everything. The last person standing takes the prize.
