Guess we can probably thank New York and Tila Tequila for this one. Perhaps their extreme popularity (maybe combined with a string of lackluster Bachelors to choose from, such as last season’s commitment-phobe, Brad Womack, perhaps?) gave ABC execs the idea to bring back what they had started in the first place.
For the first time since 2005, America will once again get to fall in love with The Bachelorette, the female spinoff show to ABC’s popular The Bachelor.
The show, created in 2003 to find love for jilted Bachelor contestant, Trista Rehn (found it in hunky firefighter Ryan Sutter, by the way), follows the same format as its male counterpart. A flock of gorgeous guys vie for the heart of one available girl — The Bachelorette — who picks them off, one-by-one, through a series ofto-die-for dates, whittling the dating pool down to one lucky guy.
ABC is tight-lipped about details, but be prepared for a summer debut. Will you accept this rose?
