January 20, 2008 01:01 AM by Joe Reality

Bob D'AmicoOn tonight’s episode of Extreme Makeover Home Edition, Ty Pennington and his team of designers visit the Luther family of Port Deposit, Maryland. Not only will the Luther family have their family home rebuilt, but their riding facility will also be renovated.

Renee Sherrard-Luther grew up on Rolling Hills Ranch, a 156-acre farm. After her father passed away when Renee was two, her mother took over running the farm. Renee’s mother hosted families in need on the ranch.

Growing up on the farm, Renee developed a strong love for riding and also helping those in need. Renee went on to major in Equine Studies, volunteer at a therapeutic riding program, and open her own facility and non-profit organization called the Freedom Hills Riding Program. Freedom Hills Riding Program has served a roster of students including those who suffer from a wide range of physical problems that include brain injuries, broken necks, autism, cerebral palsy and other developmental issues.

In addition to running the therapeutic riding program, Renee has also been involved with Equestrian programs in the Special Olympics. Renee recently suffered from a personal tragedy when her husband passed away from liver cancer. Renee now has to supper her kids and maintain her ridding facility on her own, which has led to financial struggles.

Ty Pennington, his design team, local builder Clark Turner Signature Homes and volunteers will rebuild the Luther family home and riding facility. The family will go on a vacation to Adventure By Disney to Italy while the project is taking place. The design team consists of Paige Hemmis, Rib Hillis, Ed Sanders and Eduardo Xol. Extreme Makeover Home Edition airs on Sunday, January 20 from 8 PM to 10 PM ET on ABC.
