Comedy Pros to Judge Last Comic Standing Auditions

February 07, 2008 10:29 AM by Jennifer_Brown

Leslie-David-Baker-Courtesy-NBCNBC’s Last Comic Standing is hitting the road again, this time to cast for season 6. But in an effort to cash in on the star-studded mania of reality TV these days, the judges for the various live auditions will have serious comedic notches in their belts.

Standing hopefuls can expect to be judged by Richard Belzer from SVU and Steve Schirripa today at the Gotham Comedy Club in New York. Next week’s judging at Toronto’s Yuk Yuk’s will be handed down by NewsRadio’s Dave Foley and Mad About You’s Richard Kind. Not to be outdone, Minneapolis is bringing out stars of The Office (Brian Baumgartner and Kate Flannery). Houston will boast celebrity judges Neil Flynn from Scrubs and Alfonso Ribeiro of Fresh Prince fame. Auditioners can expect to answer to more of The Office staff — this time Leslie David Baker in Tempe, Arizona, while Chuck’s Josh Gomez and the hilarious French Stewart (Third Rock) will hand down critiques in San Francisco. And not to make any of you comedy wannabes nervous, but the grand finale will have auditioners performing in front of comedy master veterans George Wendt and John Ratzenberger of Cheers fame in good old Nashville.
