With the audition rounds of American Idol 7 complete, it is on to the Hollywood round. According to American Idol host Ryan Seacrest over 100,000 people auditioned for American Idol 7, but only 164 of those contestants made it to Hollywood.
The Hollywood round will be featured on a special two hour edition of American Idol airing on Tuesday, February 12 from 8 PM to 10 PM ET/PT on FOX. For the first time ever, American Idol contestants will be allowed to play musical instruments during the Hollywood round.
After the Hollywood round, the American Idol judges will narrow the field down to around fifty contestants. From those fifty or so contestants, the judges will then select the top twenty-four American Idol semifinalists. The top twelve males and the top twelve females for American Idol 7 will be revealed in a one hour episode airing on Wednesday, February 13 from 8 PM to 9 PM ET/PT on FOX.
