We may have to wait until tonight’s season finale of Dance War to find out who will be dancing in the upcoming sixth season of Dancing With the Stars, but we already know one dancer whose name won’t be called: Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
Maks, who danced in the finals withceleb partners Laila Ali and Mel B in seasons four and five, has confirmed that he will be taking some time off for season six.
This, perhaps, shouldn’t come as a huge surprise, as Maks claimed last December to be getting “burnt out,” citing the hours and hours spent in rehearsals and Dancing’s rigorous schedule.
But fear not, Maks fans — this won’t likely be the last we’ll see of him. His latest adventures include choreographing Vegas show, Le Reve, filming (along with Dancing co-star, Cheryl Burke) a Dancing With the Stars fitness video, and even making an appearance on the ABC daytime drama All My Children.
Not to mention, it’s highly doubtful that this is the last Dancing’s seen of him.
“He just needs a break,” an ABC spokesperson recently said in an interview. “He is part of the Dancing family and he will be back.” For season seven, perhaps?
Check back with Reality TV Magazine for the full list of the Dancing With the Stars’ season six cast after tonight’s live announcement on Dance War.
